Sure, it's going to need some attention, but what a clean Sport! Observed selling prices on the V11 have been steadily on the rise. That is not out of line as an asking price for what that is, IMO.

If I could have just one other Moto Guzzi . . . I've seen very few early V11 tanks bubble their paint, and that is usually low on the "panniers" where the moisture would accumulate the most. The worst have been those V11 with extensive "decals" clearcoated onto the tank paint (Rosso and Nero Corsa). I'm not sure what those decals are (polyehtylene sheet?), but they certainly trap any outgassing that might otherwise work its way out of the tank material and its paint.

I'm guessing your 2003 Sport is a "carry-over" '02 with short chin-pad tank and white face Veglia clocks? That would still be a LongFrame, so the long tank would still fit. edit: Okay, yeah, I remember your Sport!

My understanding is that both the early/chin-pad/external pump&filter short tank and the later/internal componentry long tank are both Acerbis roto-molded polyamide ("Nylon"-like polymer). We are fortunate to have members that have experience with both tanks. @Lucky Philcomes to mind . . .

Phase Sensor plugs into the harness under the tank on the left side, beside the front of the spine frame: white and orange wires. (The location shown is after "grooming." Your connector could be anywhere in that vicinity) . . . Phase/timing sensor, itself, is seen at the very bottom, right of this image ^^

@jetboy, the O-ring is a standard #112. Viton should be available at a quality parts store.

The phase/timing sensor is located at the top/left of the timing chest forward of the left cylinder. Its spacer is a metal shim under the hold-down flange. It is not spaced by the O-ring (although Tinus89's swelled O-ring interfered with his. @jetboy, does your Sport still have the electric petcock? If so, pull back the rubber boot and inspect the electrical connections. Those wires have been known to break causing a fuel starvation.

#5 is the one of the two most stressed relays on your early Sport. It is at the back. Your #1 is the next most stressed. But, it seems you took care of this with the proper High Current G8HE OMRONS? A set of simple (but neglected) connections to check are beneath the fuse block for the front two fuses. The fuse block can be lifted (pried) up and these connectors inspected and secured:

That is sooooooo unlikely. More likely a connection or switch. 1) Does it return to normal when cooled down? 2) Does the fault change with sidestand up versus down?

Oh, a flat-tappet AirB&B + V11LM.com . . . Does it run normally now that it has cooled down? [V11Sport-OhShitHotLine - Operators are standing by . . .]

Have you ever serviced and inspected your ignition switch?

What "new" relays did you install? And, do you have spare relays onboard (what type are those?)

I spite of my encouragement to go to the trouble to condition the Odyssey to get the most out of it, and take the load off of our nefarious charging system, an 80% PC545 has still been a vastly better performer for me than any other "power sports" battery I've ever seen or owned.

Recently, I found it a reassurance that my new Bridgestones are still made in Japan and my Avons are still made in England.
