My newly acquired MotoItaliane reference, Moto Guzzi 1921-2021, states that the VA-10 was designed by "Angelo Ferrari, chief engineer of the Mandello-based company" in 1996. Between this, and the later ~2013 Federico Martini effort, it fascinates to see what Piaggio has in store . . .

Bruno dePrato would be an extraordinary advocate to further the truth of the Moto Guzzi V-twin's true history and stop the misguided tractor myth mistake. That this incoming liquid cooled V-twin is "a new project" also suggests it is not from the VA-10 designed by the team led by Danilo Majoli in 1997, under Finprogetti-TRG/ Cecchinato, that was shelved when Ivano Beggio acquired Moto Guzzi . . .

Would you email him to provide unequivocal references that the military mulo engine had nothing to do with Carcano's V7? I firmly believe we, as a community, have the obligation to help well placed, and well meaning, journalists get this story right and stop repeating the erroneous myth.

Offset is how far forward the forks are from the steering stem. So, yeah, like an inch and a half, but not four inches . . .

Moderator magic! Images fixed. All you really need to do when posting an image that is hosted (like yours, Pete, on flikr) is right click on the open image and select "copy image location" then paste into your post. Image addresses that begin and end with [img] (BBCode) won't display. -
I didn't think any EV has "upside down forks"/ male sliders at the bottom. So, I can't see how EV triples could work with the Marzocchi Sport/LeMans forks.

Seems what Weegie calls a "jubilee clamp", we Yanks call worm-gear clamps, or just "hose clamps." Pretty fun history on the whole "Jubilee Clip" thing on Wiki. So, the 1100 Sport-i is set up like the first generation V11 Sport (External fuel pump/ filter/ regulator). Once the system sits for a bit, the pressure just bleeds off. As Weegie says, you can then release one of the [hose clamps] and catch a bit of fuel. I typically take off the return line to the regulator and drain the filter atop the spine frame. Looks to be 100 ml or so, but not pressurized.

I was shocked and amazed that Tom Petty's bassman has the same J-bass that just now showed up and plugged in to my amp. I'm honored! Earlier, I tried to explain the riding thing to a non-riding friend and ended up back at "Treetop Flyer" . . . I would say I have seen the very fewest black RedFrame Sports. Who knows if they are actually the rarest? But they are stunning, IMHO. This one was on the stage at EICMA 1997 . . . photo from a motorcycle magazine that sunk its teeth into me . . .

If a pristine, well-cared-for Nero/Rosso Corsa or Coppa Italia is worth $7500-8000US (and I believe they are), an original, unmolested (but cared for) early RedFrame Sport should be pushing 4000-4500. Maybe even 5000 if it is >perfect< and I loved it at first sight. Trouble is, just how much Beta testing and neglect these poor old RedFrames have suffered. I don't feel so much guilt because my one-owner Sport will never be For Sale. And I so much enjoyed molesting her my-own-self . . .
