  1. More recently, Guzzi reintroduced this motif on the V7 Special. I found it disconcerting the stripes did not cross the tank!
  2. Pretty sure our Greenie Strutters will declare this chief among the piffle: " . . . the V7 Sport which metallic green-gold color never seduced the fans . . ." I almost bought a 1000S in that green theme. It also had a green frame, which put me off at the time. Later, I learned to rather admire the green frame.
  3. I like that they say the V11 Sport makes 91 horsepower. Not that it does. It's just cool to say . . .
  4. Well, the last time you embarked on an epic (10,000 mile circumnavigation of the Continental US) ride, you managed to work the South'n SpineRaid in! Swing by again, then ship your Guzzi out of Atlanta . . . Or better, swing by on the way back home!
  5. Not sure where p6x's V11 is coming from in Florida, but if I get this gig I promise to ride his LeMans back to Texas properly and in style . . .
  6. Otherwise, p6x, maybe you need a "double" to do the actual riding. Celebrities rely on this. Who is that rider in the background?!? And should p6x send docc in to do the dirty work?
  7. Okay, okay - that is all fun, but riding an unknown V11 from Florida to Texas in January is serious stuff. Wear what you want (I would not go without my Roadcrafter and Alpinestar boots), but take a pocketful of High Current OMRON relays and make certain the battery has been properly conditioned (or ship one ahead with a correct charger). There are times the V11 clip-ons have challenged my wrists and elbows. Other times, the rear-sets have cramped my pelvis and knees. Hydrate and take an electrolyte supplement. Stop every hour or so. Watch the limited fuel range of the V11.
  8. I want that those are leathers. I want that that is a real Ducati Sport. I want that she was riding it and wearing them. Of course, that is what Coco Chanel was after . . . that we would want . . . Getting real riding gear that actually works for us is a process. How many of us have a bin full of what didn't work. As much as "we wanted" it to . . .
  9. Gotta remember, proper leather riding gear is tailored for the riding position! Walking around in your leather riding pants is going to look, well, not like that!
  10. Agreed. But leathers are so sexxxxeeeeee! I look for opportunities to wear mine, but they are not very utilitarian. In my AeroStich Roadcrafter I look like a tarped-down flatbed load on an overweight longhaul rig . . .
  11. +1 on the modular helmet with glasses (and also being able to expose our face for a conversation, whether it is to accept a compliment on our V11 or explain where your vehicle documents and permits are. I haven't settled on the perfect modular as my Shoei NeoTech II is so horribly noisy, I rebuilt some of it myself. Shoei only said, "Sorry you don't like your helmet." $700US worth of sucky. I am hoping the AGV Sport modular fits me for helmet-next. One feature that really surprised me (as I considered it a gimmick) is the flip down "fighter pilot" sun visor. As it turns out, I no longer switch between clear and sun glasses. This is an awesome improvement as it precludes me fumbling with two pair of (prescription) glasses to change out and stow. There was that time that I got the changeover all down except zipping the stow pocket. $800 worth of litter on the roadside out there, somewhere. Also, the advantage of instant change riding in and out of sun/shade.
  12. Recurring theme, the good drummers that have reached out to wayward bass players . . .
  13. Could be worse (as in: Mick Walker ) Must agree about the recycled content in these sorts of books. A few new models with a few new pictures in each subsequent edition. This is how the damn "tractor motor" crap got perpetuated.
  14. Z Custom Leathers made me an amazing racing jacket and pants for me almost twenty years ago to custom match my Sport. For a while there, they had seemed to have shrunk . Still, I only use them for "ceremonial" rides, and not usually the racing pants as they are not made to carry much (nothing) in the pockets. And my pocketses serve more like a day-pack . . . http://www.zcustom.com/
  15. Santa John! I'm still *grateful* for the Grateful Dead you sent me a while back.
  16. "Gambalunga!"
  17. One the subject of books with Guzzi content, I recalled Lucky Phil speaking of Dave Richardson's writing of how it was dealing with running a motorcycle shop and working with the Italians. I always liked dealing with Moto International and figured there would be further insights to be gained of my long-term Guzzi ownership experience. Well, to my dismay, I mistakenly ordered his book of stories that did not make the "A" cut book, My Life in Bikes. It seems the "B" cut stories appear in a book with the same cover, same title, but with the subtitle "The Rest of the Stories." If you go looking for Richardson's book, be forewarned. I did work my way through the "memoirs" and some gave me a smile. I mostly made myself finish it out of respect for Dave, then gave the book away. Yet, I couldn't bring myself to order the book I thought I was getting.
  18. Ah, yeah. That's the bass line . . .
  19. This one hits me harder than Steppenwolf "Born to be Wild". The kinda tune that gets me ticketed riding with it in my head. Has all the food groups: Orange half-stack in a pole barn, slender fingers holding a Shure55, and a bass line that sounds like a V11 Sport hugging a bluff along the river . . .
  20. I do not see an author (?) Ian Falloon's new book is on its way to me. Very excited to learn even a single new tidbit about our passion . . .
