Thanks, Remo! I have so appreciated your sharing "Riding Italy" with us! And your determination to get your V11 out in all conditions. Best to you, Sir!

So much to dig on, there! A whole stage of OrangeĀ® Half-stacks that match the miniskirt of the chick stage right with the Go-Go boots. The STPĀ® sticker between the pick-ups of the cat playing slide (I'm betting Andy Granatelli didn't pay him for that in those days). And a bassman that never got the memo that all bassmen are to play from a dark corner and remain largely motionless.

What a fine brace of V11! I spy a silver Z3. My, my . . . and I thought you were a Mopar guy . . .

That's what this made me think of, Scud's resealing chronicle. Let me see if I can locate it . . . [edit: Yep, here you go.}

Thank you, biesel, for letting us know. Best wishes to Paul!

The clutch would not worry me at all as long as there is no sign of oil, as gstallons mentioned, and no signs of friction disc material having sloughed off. So unlikely for you. I would, though, address the (eight!) common leak points on the back of the engine and front of the gearbox while it is so accessible . . .

I believe the reply, "I think there are things in the throttle bodies that don't need that kind of treatment." was posted by @gstallons

We have enough nuts here that no bolts should ever come loose . . .

[edit: My apologies. This new forum format messes with my skill level. "Merging" is not the thing to do as it puts selected posts inside a single post. Sorry for the inconvenience. ] [edit#2/ 26 April, 2020: Apparently the awful merge cannot be undone, so I have attempted to add back each poster and separate the replies more clearly. Terribly sorry for the mess, chaps. My bad.]

Hey! I resemble that remark!

Set the valve lash with the valve covers off and the engine running? Yeah, lots o' hubris and lots o' kitty litter and shop rags!?
-
dooc flawed?!? Say it ain't so . . . So, how in the wide world would one check valve clearances with the engine running? Which is why we all assumed the clearances close up during operation. Yet, the fact that the clearances come back to "stone cold" values after just 45 minutes or so was the point of the exercise. No reason to let the sun set and rise again to set your clearances, if I can be considered correct in this aspect of the matter . . .

Oh, I have to agree. Every time I see "designer photo shoots" of sexy bikes they don't have ANY mirrors. Certainly no registration tags and usually no turn signals/"winkers." Minimal lights and instruments, even. Don't get me started how I think my Tekno panniers look like Cindy Crawford in muck boots and a slicker . . .
-
And, here, I thought my wee CRG quite sweet. More like *tassles* on Cindy Crawford. Sure, "objects are (waaay) closer than they appear", but you can still tell it's a cop car when the blue lights come on!

That's a happy looking place! Someone is in love . . .

@biesel , @Meinolf , is there word on Paul?

+1 on enjoying the photo album! I just have to link hammershaug's thread "Greenie going down" that chronicles his "pulling" his Greenie into it's winter shop space . . .

I seem to recall the OEM aluminum emblem can be gently shaped to the curve. Clean that surface really well and the adhesive holds up surprisingly well. Yet, it is not unheard of that they go missing . . . No criticism, just an observation. These "catch-all" threads see alot of traffic and some great posts. OP Scud also kind of originated the idea of the Dedicated Build Thread. That the current owner of his Greenie, KINDOY2, has that thread for reference is just terrific. Looking forward to your thread, hammershaug!

May I say that the downfall of this "thread" is that there is no "topic." So, NicoNZ ( and others), please feel free(er) to start your own thread/topic about your individual build and learning experiences. Specific topic titles are easier to search for others later. For example, "Clutch Chatter" is a better topic title than something like, "WTF?" FWIW, I don't hear anything "bad" in that brief video. Maybe some wee exhaust leaks? (Those will totally mess up a V11 . . .)
-
Correct. This input hub drives the gearbox from the clutch.
-
Isn't that like asking what a Scotsman wears under his kilt, or an Irish roadracer wears under his leathers? (Okay, okay, my brackets are inboard like NicoNZ's)
-
My worsening rattle turned out to be the cgarbox input hub walking off from a flawed safety washer . . .

Best I can gather from all the respectable contributors is that if you really want that much more out of a V11, take off the license plate and back it up to a Roller 8 Valve. Just be willing to give up your quickie RedFrame, if ya gots one. Otherwise, the V11 can really be tuned very finely, of you are wiling to take the time and trouble.
