  1. A dear friend trusted technician suggested Brembo rotors like Brembo pads. I had excessive wear from EBC HH pads and have been using Brembo, again, ever since.
  2. That checks out with the numbers I posted above. Are the caliper bolts M8x1.25?
  3. Happy Leap Day, y'all! (Photo courtesy of Hagerty Drivers Club)
  4. Can you verify they are 8mm? Those will be 25-30NM (18-22 ft-lb). If they are 10mm/ 45-50 NM (33-37 ft-lb)
  5. That is an interesting perspective. When the frames changed, not only longer but with the cross-braced front and rear subframes and lower braces across the gearbox (along with the wider rear wheel/tire), the thinking was that this was all in response to persistent complaints in the press about the odd handling characteristics of the early Sports. While some of that was down to "expectations of what a Guzzi handles like,' there were a collection of very real issues that affected the early Sport's stability and tendency to "weave" at high speed in a cross wind (like passing a truck on the freeway). It occurs to me the LongFrame was introduced for the 2002 LeMans, still with the early tank style (external pump/fiter), while the Gen2 tank came out in 2003, if I am not mistaken (?)
  6. Hey, after you open your image on your hosting site, "right click" on the image to drop down a menu, select "Copy Image Location", and paste into your post: Voila!
  7. I think the discussion about Carillo rods is valuable to all of us, no foul. So, ChrisC, I can edit your original post with tools on my computer when I get home later. Somehow, those tools do not appear on this mobile device. [edit: Okay, gotcha, buddy. Let me know if you want that done differently.] Good luck with the sale and thanks for showing us the stable!
  8. V11 pipes get any higher, we'll hafta start burnin' diesel!
  9. That kinda reminds me of all the car makers foisting turbo-4cylinders on us and claiming big horsepower. When what we really want is . . .
  10. I remember reading some journalist's opinion about the early V11 Sport, "Will require some owner involvement." That was not wrong . . .
  11. One can hope, yes?
  12. There were a couple other images I considered, but there were too many uniforms and turn-out gear involved . . . I mean, there are those that may recall the SSR "lead bike" being passed on the right by >lights&sirens< I admit, I did not see (or hear) that coming . . . These things can get edgy, even with our best intentions . . .
  13. I looked for a representative image of MGTD-III and settled on this one. Thanks, Bill, for hosting this event and sharing it with those of us who pine to be there . . .
  14. Ok , I take back the whole Sandra Dee thing. Pretty sure I'm a legit fan . . . this even looks like Italy!
  15. Happy for you Gio . . . not so much for our little community. Your being here with us will always be welcome and invited! (Gio joined May, 2003!) Don't wander too far off, buddy!

    Decent Tune-up

Progress! For best outcome, perform the entire "Decent Tune-up" . . .
  17. It is pretty amazing to see that is what she looks like with the front framework and structure all in place. Soooo very nicely done! Is the swingarm, shock, and reardrive in place, yet?
  18. Makes South’n SpineRaiders look like the Sandra Dee Fanclub....
  19. A high idle on a V11 is vastly better than a low one. V11 idle adjustment is "Step 6" . . .
  20. Hey, ya know P.Roper is fond of saying, "V11 don't crash well." One more thing he is right about . . .
  21. One of the interesting revelations about the V11 is that the "timing cover" is a key stressed member. Perhaps unique to the SpineFrames?
  22. Looks like a job for JBWeld . . .
  23. This is very exciting, but still not actually MotoGuzzi . . . what will they show us of the "road-going" V85 at this year's EICMA in advance of the company's centenary? I mean, this is built from the CARC and we are told the CARC is dead.
  24. ok, got this. Thanks, Chuck! Moving, indeed!
  25. Hey, jmardy, can you say what the LeMans sold for?
