  1. Discussion about flywheel failure concerns archived in this pinned topic: https://www.v11lemans.com/forums/topic/31018-aluminum-flywheel-failure/
  2. For full disclosure, this is what I was after with the increased air gap: my (limited) understanding is that less air compresses less and tends to increase compression at the end of the stroke effectively shortening the travel (a sort of "harshness" toward the depth of the fork travel). Increasing the air gap can contribute to a more linear damping through the travel range. This is likely way oversimplified, but gives the idea. I would add that it is the last parameter to address after correct springs and preload ("sags"/ride heights), oil selection, and damping settings.
  3. Easy to check by carefully prying the fuse block up from the isolator blocks (no need to fiddle with the fasteners) and be certain those four hidden spade connectors are clean and tight (Caig DeOxit® is our friend!). They supply power from the Ignition Switch to the fuses for the fuel/ignition and ECU relays.
  4. Remind me what relays you have installed? True, High Current varieties (especially in Position#5)? You have inspected and secured the nefarious, hidden spade connectors beneath the fuse block to fuse #1 and #2?
  5. Perhaps more relevant from that source, "Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain !"
  6. I derived this air gap for my riding preferences, combined with all of the other details of my suspension set-up. The fluid volume is derived from the air gap, not vice-versa. But only if you want to use the air gap as an additional tuning parameter. Many would say it is "splitting hairs" for the street. Yet, "the street" is all I gots.
  7. Isn't there a replacement available, new, from Mg Cylce? edit: https://www.mgcycle.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=135&products_id=141
  8. Factory cartridges. (I'm using Taxxion springs, but that does not affect the air gap.)
  9. No pressure on The Wizard !
  10. Yes, my EnerSys OptiMate will change to the lower amperage as well. Probably fine for a "healthy" PC545, but I prefer the manual method, with voltage monitoring, for rescues.
  11. Rather than relying on the chargers' (unknown) algorithms, try using a manual setting and monitor with a volt meter. Terminate the charge at 15.0 volts, discharge and repeat until stable (battery stays above 12.65v for days to weeks and cranks reliably when engaged).
  12. Good question. It would be great to see @Kiwi_Roy back on! Sadly, he hasn't visited in a while . . .
  13. I feel like I resemble that remark.
  14. Those are all the details I have. What an interesting cat.
  15. I am so sorry to share that our member Mikko passed away unexpectedly January 10, 2024. He was an extraordinary fellow and I will surely miss him. R.I.P. Mikko
  16. Alright, sorry about the stab at humor. Richard Widman's air-cooled engine (Corvair) discussion is still, IMCO, worth sharing. Sure, this input still requires some "extrapolation" to apply to our V11, but ever relevant for air cooled motors. I remain a devotée to Group 5 base oil in the 20W-50 range in my original Moto Guzzi specifications. https://www.widman.biz/uploads/Corvair_oil.pdf
  17. Yak fat proponents, step ye forth!
  18. If you can park the bike upright and open the level plug to drain overnight, any overfill will self correct. Otherwise, seal failure will manifest by dripping off the bottom of the bell flange if it is the large, inboard seal. Or at the right swingarm junction if it is the deep, inboard seal.
  19. I have had two motorcycle crashes. One with a heavy leather jacket/ no armor and the other in leathers with armor. Armor for me, now, in all riding gear. I've seen the difference in impact dispersion.
  20. Returning, in some convoluted way, to the matter of things German(ic), I found it most interesting that Mexican beer, and many from Texas, owe their origins to the Germans (and "Austrians") that emigrated here under Emperor Maximillian. Max did not stay, but the beer did! One of my current favorites: Shiner Bock (Shiner, Texas) from the Spoetzl Brewery. ("Spötzl?")
  21. Weekend after (US) Labor Day: September 6-8, 2024
  22. Less than six months out, now @gstallons . . . Time to put yer-anus in gear!
  23. How are the beam patterns and fit in the later V11 plastic headlamp buckets, @Tomchri ?
