  1. More evidence and observation of our collective, rampant confusion! Are we V11-ers even accepted Guzzisti? Red-headed step-children? Or just wild-ass fringe cowboys? Most times, there is no call for me to describe the Sport in detail. I, too, would have tried with that fellow. But given up just as quickly. I love how quickly this progresses to "pet names." - - - -> "Stephania!" "BigRed!" "The Varsseveld Tuxedo" . . . I have known riders so talented at naming their bikes (and cars). I've just never been able to pull that off eloquently.

    Fuel line

    These have been heat shielded in numerous ways besides the metal braid. I've had good results adjusting the length and moving the pump forward as much as possible to groom the line away from the head and cylinder as much as possible. Scud made some up that were very nice:

    Paint code needed

    Seems Moto Guzzi keeps a lot of secrets. Paint formulae, production numbers, engineering changes . . .
  5. I remember once having a no start/ no neutral light and I could roll the bike back in forth like it was in neutral. But it was between gears and wouldn't start since the neutral switch and its middle relay were not activated. Felt pretty stupid. At least I figured it out before taking the bike completely down to bits . . .

  8. As gstallons says . . . If you roll the bike back & fro to make sure it is really in neutral and only one click up from first (not a 'false' neutral), it should crank with the stand down. If not, it's the middle relay/ neutral switch/ connection on the left of the gearbox sideplate. That neutral switch spade connector is so vulnerable under its wee rubber boot . . .
  9. Absolutely no reason to back up the map unless you plan on loading a new one. Looks all good. Why mess with it? Otherwise, non-access to the ECU through guzzidiag can occur for several reasons. (I am not the expert on this) . . . Engine must be at operating temperature. When you say "99", is that F or C? Make sure you have selected the correct V11 model in Preferences and guzzidiag declares "connected." What makes you say you have a Titanium map?

  11. imgzeit was done by v7cafe, not coincidentally, but in response to our content loss from PhotoBlockit's first stunt blocking all images and demanding subscription payment. He also built one of the first tools to transfer image albums out of there to a reliable host. They kept finding it and shutting it off and he kept rebuilding it to keep helping people rescue their own images. Not just this forum, either; folks from all walks all over the world. Then "imgzeit" for $11US/yr. Makes me proud. (My oldest son, who rides with us and now has the V85TT )

  14. Interesting point about the retroreflectveness. A flickering reflection, in the daylight, is how I discovered my lost connection issue, twice. Even with the splattery first LED beam on Hi-, I was never flashed by oncoming traffic. Although in low light or nighttime, I am always diligent about dipping the beam even coming up behind other drivers. Pissing people off (more than they already are) is a formula for disaster, especially on the roads . . .
  15. I'll be honest, here. Oncoming traffic (especially lifted trucks) with ill-aimed white-hot LED headlamps+running lamps+auxiliary lamps are a huge annoyance to me, as well. Yet, "conspicuity" (being seen) is my primary goal with these *experiments.* Being seen in traffic full of distracted, angry, and clueless drivers is critical. These people pull out in front of brightly painted firetrucks running full flashing lights, sirens, and blaring claxons . . . When I am riding solo, or navigating our small team, I want the traffic ahead to see "something coming." That the beam pattern needs to be functional, both Hi- and Lo-, after dark is important to me. But not my primary goal. More like trying to approximate an onboard RIO, with photon torpedoes, to make it through to the destination . . .

  19. I have not heard of Grote, Tom. You have a link to what fits the V11? (Oh, and let’s realize that the Bosch steel bucket/glass lens V11 differ from the plastic bucket/lens V11 in dimensionality and options for changes.)
  20. Yeah, these stock airbox sellers always deserve a bit of "helping out" . . . The "pinches' and constrictions in the intake runners are really obvious in the bottom view of the lid you got. Ripe for "porting and polishing!
  21. Over two years and ten thousand miles, this effort remains one of the best things I have ever done for my Sport. Thanks, again, to all that made it possible! On a little routine check-over I saw the vulnerable crankcase vent hose under the frame resting on, and abrading from, the oil supply lines for the heads at the front top of the engine block in the "V". A carefully placed Zip-tie and no hole will ever work through there . . . One of several updates to the Tank Off Maintenance Checklist . . .
  22. Now, this is going to be quite something!
  23. First attempt at some static aiming of the "VintageCars" LED. I live on a hillside where my entire existence is slipping toward the Marianas Trench , and the only level thing is my head . So, this set-up is far from perfect, but at ten feet the Lo-beam shows a nice cut-off biased away from right-side driving traffic: Hi-beam looks more "focused" than the last LED unit, but won't know more until I ride at night (I'd rather not), or continually get flashed by oncoming vehicles.
  24. Some have kept AGM on BatteryTenders for years and years, even though it is not considered "best practice." Not recommended by Hawker for the Odyssey (they publish a "damage" warning for low amp "trickle"), but YMMV
