Regarding the main seal, I'm sorry to say that the other leak sources are the more likely culprits, it may rear its head again, but not be the main seal.

I don't suppose the rear main seal is tricky, per se. It's that there are other, more likely, leak points in there that should be seen to while it's apart. Otherwise, you might think it's leaking again when it is actually the other faults.

Well, yes, the longer front section and the shorter rear slide together. Each shaft section also includes a U-joint (cross) and a yoke that pinches onto the shafts. Three Zerks ( each cross and the slide coupling.)

The special tools to torque those special "nuts" seem critical to me. No way I could have installed my gearbox drive hub nut reliably without Andy York. Who else delivers V11 Special Tools to your desperate installation on a pristine V7Sport?

This is the same style "retention" > safety < washer that failed on my gearbox input hub. Better have a look at that one as well . . .

Some have modified the intakes at the front of the stock airbox giving them a "bell" shape. I enjoyed doing this very much on my Sport and am happy with the way the intake sound changed from the rider's position. I also "felt" it made the bike "livelier," but there was a mixture of beer and desire involved . . .

Some say that a window can be cut in the collar around the front U-joint, but it is the inside of the swingarm itself that blocks my access. I won't be cutting holes in that!

I thought you authored the quintessential thread on "Greasing that #$%& farking front U" . . . . At 113,000 miles, I'm "pretty sure" I got grease in it two or three times. I've just resigned myself to pulling the swingarm every third rear tire change . . .

Just trying to wrap my head around the practical math . . . So, as the V11 11/32 is 2.9:1, the others are both much "taller" ratios? 8/33 = ~4.1, and 7/33 + ~ 4.7 (even "taller", yet)? And "taller" would lower the RPM at a given speed? And a lower (?) gearing, like the V11, makes for more aggressive take-off?

If she fails to ignite the starter at any point, hold the the clutch ever in, keep the starter button down, and rotate the bars lock-to-lock. (Clutch lock-out bullet connectors) . . . Any hiccups get troublesome, replace Relay#5 with a known good relay. Them-thar High Current OMRON are the way to go! Otherwise, any fresh micro relay is likely to get you down the road a piece. Carry extras. Do you have voltmeter to monitor the battery?

I've seen this 8x33 and 7x33 thing before. I realize it the tooth count on the pinion and ring, but do not recall what this is for the V11 (?)

What do a pair of stock rubber intakes cost these days? (Mikko just picked up a set . . .) Ditto on my not likely going to pods, but these are kewl! (Do they come in black?)

4) Keep the oil topped up (above halfway between the marks). It’s one simple thing you can do to keep the pick-up in the soup. The oil can be checked in the sidestand. The stick hits the sump in the center either way. 5) Pretty sure it’s never 95F/35C in northern Italy. The V11 do not like high ambient temps. There are lots of approaches to that, one of which is to ride north. You’ve got that in the works! A “Decent Tune-up” is in order to baseline TPS and zero the CO, but that can wait. Happy travels! I seem to recall Scud's investigations revealed an explanation why the up and down tension differ (?) I am anxious to hear what you find as my lever has hesitated in the down position a couple times in the last three thousand miles . . .
