  1. Thanks for posting that, ColdandWet! Y’all notice the lock nut on my white balance knob, above. That and sliding the shock reservoir rearward are good method!
  2. The throttle linkage does have a tight spot on the left where the white adjuster knob can hang on the shock reservoir adjuster. Also, this "tunnel" for the lingage rod should not have anything else (wiring, hoses, mouse nest, etc) sharing the space . . .
  3. Since we seem to be on the subject of "cans" . . .
  4. This thread needs savin' . . .
  5. Yep, Odyssey says not to exceed 15.0v. But I wonder what the condition of the battery was before the ride? (As in under, or well under the 12.65v Odyssey charging threshold) . . . Also, you have added the regulator case-to-engine ground strap and have had a look at the condition of your green 30 amp fuse (for melting or signs of heat damage)?
  6. swooshdave does great video! In the meantime, have a look at the 6 step "Decent Tune-up" . . . complete with " . . . twenty-seven 8 by 10 colored glossy pictures with the circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one . . . "

    2001 V11 Sport

I think you scored that, too! How about showing it off at the Fifteenth South'n spine Raid?

    2001 V11 Sport

    Intense! Love it! So edgy!
  9. So, hey, monitor your voltage every few days and, when it drops to 12.65v, turn the lights on a few minutes then charge it until it reaches 14.7v. It would be great if your Shauer has a "manual" mode and you can just go by the voltage. You become the "high zoot chip", your-own-self!
  10. hmmmmm, pretty easy to jack the bike and pull the rear wheel/ brake and do a thorough inspection of bearings and swingarm, driveshaft, and brake and such? There are five bearings on the rear axle and two in the reardrive . . .
  11. craigsinclair addressed this in Nov 2016 in this post. See if it helps: "Shifting Woes"
  12. So, is it correct to say when installing the (5speed) RAM clutch/flywheel the input hub must be for the V11 single plate clutch (Rosso Mandello, Tenni, Scura)? Isn't this what footgoose accomplished on his Tenni?
  13. Hot stuff! "I'm waiting for it! That green light! I want it!"
  14. The image of the Alibaba TPS looks identical to the cacycleworks TPS, down to the logo and what appears to be the same writing "cacycleworks.com" . . . Perhaps, when they arrive, they will not have that logo or wording on them.
  15. That said, I've only had the CaCycleWorks TPS in a few hundred miles. Not sure what happens if one of these Chinese TPS plays up. I took my flinky old one on a recent trip, just in case. Is it possible a badly manufactured TPS could cause a strand?
  16. Kevin_T, what year/model is your project V11? Is it an early "RedFrame?" If so, here is a good thread to read and probably a better place to pose that (good) question: Red (short) Frame vs. Black (long) Frame (in "24/7 V11")
  17. Neither of mine "died." Just introduced "hiccups and burps" as well as difficulty getting an accurate state of tune. I've never heard of a TPS stranding anyone, just makes the bike difficult and annoying to ride especially in parking lots, pulling away from stops and exiting corners. You know: those times when you really need the bike to accelerate smoothly and predictably . . .
  18. Yep. My experience is that my Sport needed a new TPS every 50-60,000 miles/ 80-100.000 km, so lots of you might be coming into that range. Be checking the sweep of resistance when you do your routine tune-up. When it starts jumping around, time for a new one.
  19. The caps look identical to that I got from CaCycleWorks. Do you think they test every one? I find that so unlikely, but I am rather cynical along those lines. It is looking like, even with shipping halfway 'round the world twice, the cost would be about 1/3 what I paid. Yet, for whomever might take this on, a significant beercharge should be added to each unit . . .
  20. Perhaps a proper slogan for our existence (and not just the motors or bikes, themselves)! We nutters must stick together . . .
  21. Working, now, to bring my Shaky Currach back to the road . . . these people bring me chills . . . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHv3chUOygc Elephant Revival: Shaky Currach
  22. Could not get my leaky, clapped-out throttle bodies to balance well at rpm and give a stable idle. Seems the shafts and seals could use a rebuild at 111,000 miles/ 179.000 km. I feel good about scoring these low-use replacements, complete with PF3C TPS, linkage, and injectors. They cleaned up mighty-fine!
  23. The triples were not tweaked by the collision? I "kinda" remember this V11, but not sure whose it was . . .
  24. Anyone recognize this 2001 Greenie being parted out in Florida?
  25. I did just get my cheap fluid tester. Obviously, we did not get the planned testing done before last year's South'n Spine Raid. Josh even found some new, unopened brake fluid with marginally high water content. Probably smart to test before pouring . . .
