Definitely the most plaguing annoyance of my V11 ownership. I'm pretty sure there is a good tutorial thread here, somewhere, about getting the deep bearing out to replace the inner seal. I suppose a bearing puller is required?
-
This is the replacement reardrive with about 50,000 miles (half of my take-off reardrive). I presume it has the original seals. I do have a pair of OEM seals to attempt. What a gumption trap that this reardrive is leaking just like my last one.
-
Geez. This is wearing me down. Eight-frikkin'-years of leaking rear drives. How the hell does gearoil get in here? It's not the large outer seal. So, it's the inner seal and oil is running along the axle to the left? Only a matter of time before it starts the nasty drip out of the right side?

I've heard of that . . .

All my cutter said was, "Don't get 300 miles away and realize you won't be able to ride home.." Being a fringe-doc, I frequently prescribe Vibration and Wind Therapy. If physical circumstances prove otherwise, then it is Muse Time and Spanner Fluid!

For whatever reason , Moto Guzzi designed the throttle bodies to remain as a an assembly and be removed/replaced together. At least on my RedFrame, this cannot be accomplished with out crabbing the frame slightly.
-
Yeah, I went the GPS route but others have built or adapted a sender. Kiwi_Roy is one of them and there is some discussion of that and the various ways to mount Speedhuts on a V11 in this thread: Installing Speedhut Gauges

Sweet looking V11 Sport! How many km? (I can't see the content on the link) . . .

So, (over)thinking about this further , the inboard side of the lens has a "clip" or "hook" extension as part of the plastic lens. My theory is that this fails first and all the stress and vibration is placed on the self tapping single screw. When that plastic threading gives up: bye-bye lens(es). When the inboard clip breaks off, a little gap will appear between the lens and signal body. This not only lets moisture in (fogging lenses), but introduces the AWOL lens risk. Watch for the gap. When it appears, fasten the lens tight on the inboard side with a strip of "packing tape" (Unobtrusive and durable) before the lens flees.

I've replaced a few lenses (as has been stated, "[they] go oft a'gley"), but don't remember getting screws with them. Pretty sure that comes with the assembly. When those complete assemblies were available for Buell, they were under $5US each. Not sure about that availability now.

This one on ebay? https://www.ebay.com/itm/Moto-Guzzi-V11-Bike-Koolart-Motorcycle-Car-Cartoon-Art-White-T-Shirt-M-3X/192415067897?var=492405998944&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D44040%26meid%3De6955ff4f9404b19a28f182cb254e65e%26pid%3D100623%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D5%26sd%3D192415067897%26itm%3D492405998944&_trksid=p2047675.c100623.m-1

I know a guy who makes *house calls* . . .

Those screws tend to go missing, followed in short order by the lens(es). So, for sure the smoked lens can be had as a Buell part. There is an inner amber lens that accompanies the outer smoked lens. You can match up a screw from the local hardware store.

I love seeing modded V11! Adds value to my hi-mile Silver Sport . The ol' girl must be worth at least as much as a basic major kitchen appliance. You know, like a dishwasher or something really interesting like that.

Replicating the white face Veglia, and adding every option available from Speedhut, added to the cost. Having them build faces similar to the black face ITI is likely more straight forward (read: cheaper). There is still the matter of fitting and mounting the Speedhut (not exactly "plug&play") and whether they can stand the weather.

Simple answer: yes, Relay#1(front) is the Start Relay. Consider sourcing High Current 5-pin relays for all positions: "Best Relays for the V11" Otherwise, there are other possible issues: >When you thumb the starter button and there is *nothing* at all, try holding the button down and rotating the handle bars lock-to-lock. If she suddenly cranks, it is the "Bullet Connectors" for the clutch lock-out switch located along the left side of the frame under the tank. See the "Tank Off maintenance Checklist" for details (>"bullet" #1). >If your jump-wire the starter and it doesn't function right, it could be detached magnets inside the Valeo starter itself. >Battery condition could be an issue. Do you have a good voltmeter? Welcome to the best place in the universe to sort a V11 Guzzi!

WINNER. 2011 Ducati Multistrada S uh-huh . . . yep . . .

@footgoose ("Like why he chose a Guzzi."): See video #1 (first seven seconds): "The reason for using Moto Guzzi is: I've always, always, loved Moto Guzzi." (Paul Milbourn) @guzzler: Thanks for the solidarity on the *stilettos* ! The V11 (and 1100 Sport-i / Centauro) cast "frame side plates" are a work of art! Worthy of a proper descriptor . . . > "stilettos" are decidedly Italian . . . "porkchops?" . . . eh, not so much . . . .
