  1. I have that book. It is a very nice "coffee table" book, but I would not rely on it as a reference. There are just too many models to cover, so briefly, and get all the details right. For example, the V11 Sport section contains a few misleading or erroneous statements. Overall, it is a beautiful book, and Ian Falloon does a nice job. (Unlike Mick Walker who appears to have started the "tractor motor" bullcrap ). So, the statement about the "imitation leather seat" is all that is said of the matter in Falloon's book.
  2. Likely anyone who is logged in there will go straight to the ad. I can see the usual classifieds, but don't see the Swap Meet in the menu. Must be in the "Members Only" section (?)
  3. Can't remember how. I figure if a guy wants to share a link to sell his V11, it shouldn't be shielded by a login.
  4. Maybe you should... log in? nope
  5. That link takes me to a login page. How about just cutting and pasting your ad here?
  6. got a link? If it is only on Wildguzzi, I don't think you can link straight to the ad. I posted the link to their classifieds, but I don't see anything posted newer than Dec5 . . .
  7. Damon, wildguzzi sorts their classifieds by the posting date. What date was your ad posted? http://www.mgnoc.com/classifieds.html
  8. LowRyter recently posted a fun thread about the V11 appearing in Cycle World magazine. I just had the opportunity to read Cycle World's "Best Used Bikes", December 2017, featuring the V11 and an image of the Tenni. Working through the rest of the issue, I found something else relevant to the Guzzi: Kevin Cameron's regular contribution, "Ignition" titled The Long and Short of Fasteners. In his eloquent way of helping mere mortals appreciate applied engineering practice and outcomes common to motorcycles, he describes the reasons why short bolts or thin [sprocket] nuts come loose, especially when subjected to power pulses. I was reminded of my recent input hub failure when the tabbed retention washer failed and the hub "walked off" enough to begin disengaging the clutch. http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=20037&p=223175 This is exactly the situation Kevin Cameron is discussing in his article (absolutely worth the read!). So, it occurs to me that anytime the V11 gearbox input hub is exposed, it should be inspected, and (if necessary) retorqued, with a new "safety washer" correctly staked. { The special nut does, unfortunately, require a special engagement tool.} No matter why your gearbox might be separated from the motor, absolutely see to this very simple potential failure point!
  9. I recall luhbo reminding us that Ducati Energia is not Ducati Motorcycles. Seems someone recently fitted a stator upgrade to the V11, but yours will differ. Check out these folks for assistance: https://www.electrosport.com/
  10. Only one way to know for sure : scratch & sniff . . .
  11. Wait . . . where is that Dead&Co download?
  12. This is such great method. And learn how to keep your AGM *conditioned* . Batteries like 'exercise' = discharge/*charge* (for the AGM: use adequate amperage/voltage) When the AGM reaches 12.65v, ->discharge **trickle-ye-not** http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=18838&p=208786
  13. Good for your Brain Salad Surgery . . .
  14. A good buddy sent me this short video. Man, did I need it! https://player.vimeo.com/video/246152048?quality=1080p
  15. I didn't say *that* . . . . . . . I never said that . . . . . . oh, dear, me . . . . . . not me, nope. (Wow, "1968!")
  16. At the time my brother was a twenty year old Royal Engineer attached to 42 Commando in Malta, he did the whole Green Beret thing in Plymouth. (As an aside, he tells me he was instructed to tell any American who asked what the RM shoulder badges meant that he was to reply "Real Marine" and to stand his ground). It seems getting drunk and riding too fast at the local airstrip did not go together too well, the side cases suffered when the footrests dug into them. He had them welded up over there but now corrosion is opening up the old welds. We think we will build what we can and then rethink, we are both retired now so funds not huge. Oh, yeah, those things we grow out of if we live long enough. Crashing Ducatis on air strips , poking Marines with a stick . . .
  17. So, we are more, or less, likely to fart torquing the rear axle from the "housing side?" After fighting reardrive leaks for eight years, I may start following the factory procedure if for nothing more than the gris-gris.
  18. Yah, the rear axle torque is 120 NM (?) . . . "From the housing side." Why-oh-why is that? Something about the seals? Coriolis effect?
  19. Hopefully, someone with a 2004 with Marzocchi forks can put a spanner on them for you.
  20. It is on the '99-2001. front: 92630718 rear: 92630718 I can't even find a way to search parts for the 2004.
  21. I am not sure they changed from the early Sport (27mm)?
  22. Tenni guys . . . they know how to roll.
  23. Bustin' on Chuck . . . This is what you get posting pics of your *space* . . . Always best to throw in a visible hammer for possible diversion.
  24. That bulk-pack of green condoms on the shelf is either really encouraging or really disconcerting . . . . . .
