  1. The archivist in me is curious if it was 1999. My Sport was built March 2000, purchased August 3 and was the second one in this state. Not sure if any "1999" made it to the US or how early in '99 they were rolled out.
  2. Yeah, the separate left and right signal indicators is for the later V11 (2003-2005) and eliminates the battery warning. Footgoose showed me this change from the early Sports at the South'n Spine Raid. I've been meaning to get one ever since. [edit: the early Sport panel is 0271100]
  3. Seems the beloved Dave Richardson (author of Guzziology) really liked the V11 Sport. Some great information I have never read before on the changes to the heads and new pistons. Referencing no less than Dr. John Wittner. As with so many web articles, no date stamp, though.
  4. Is there a separate part number for that jeweled indicator card?
  5. Write me a *note* !
  6. I'm jealous. Those are such great roads!
  7. That . . . just . . . drips . . . Isn't that the trapezoidal Euro-spec headlight from the Euro Daytona and Sport 1100?
  8. I'm no expert, but I've "hit" valves on other engines and there was, immediately, no compression. Is it possible to hit valves and not bend them enough to fail the seat?
  9. Lighter frame, wheels, bodywork... shall I go on? No foot bail on the side stand, no eagle badge on the alternator cover . . . "Take care of the ounces . . . ."
  10. 55.3 inch wheelbase, 23ยบ rake, 427 pounds!
  11. Yeah, man, bent valves will have to be a replaced.
  12. So a later V11 motor, prior generation 5speeder, and no-telling what SpineFrame! (I noticed the V11-style sidestand, but not sure if those were also used on the the last of the 1100Sport-i)
  13. Ah! yeah! Late model V11! What a great catch!
  14. What is that "late style V11 engine/trans subframe"? Can you show a pic? I did not know the early (silver) V11) engine differs at all from the late 1100Sport-i?
  15. I hope you have someone make a video so we can all "be there!" Pretty exciting stuff!
  16. Well, the injected 1100 Sport-i engine still had the 5speeder . . . So, probably not a V11 . . .
  17. Does it still have compression in both cylinders? I don't the piston can hit a valve without bending it and losing compression. Something is totally not right, though . . .
  18. WOW! Thanks for all the detailed photography! Worth a lengthy study session . . .
  19. Mounting replacement gauges is challenge, truly. There are several different solutions in this thread: Installing Speedhut Gauges
  20. Good plan. I had passed on the heater hose attempt and replaced mine with the factory part when trying to control the various oil leaks on the Sport. Frankly, once the breather hose was off, I found it wasn't leaking even after close to 100,000 miles. It does occur to me that the hose is subject all manner of nastiness from the crankcase ventilation. After all, this is the nasty vapor/ suspended liquid fraction being expelled from the hot oil. Degradation of the breather hose seems mighty dependent on what is in that expectorate. Low grade motor oil, extended change intervals, poor state of tune (especially overly rich), frequent cold start-up, engine wear, and ethanol fuel (and it's nasty binary azeotropes) would all contribute to degradation of the hose material.
  21. This rates a full size garage poster of an ensemble of this collection of "pairing" images!
  22. This one's got the looks, the motor, the pedigree. Never going to see one in the US, but anyone know anything about the Moto Morini Sport 1200?
  23. Evidently, we have two Husky dealers in this state, both a couple hours away, both with limited inventory. Several of us wandered around the new "power sports" dealer in my small town. A sea of quad-things, Suzies, Kawis, and about fifty KTM. All of the full size ADV bikes seem so unwieldy to me. Word is that there will be a 790 Adventure in the not-too-distant future.
  24. Tell, ya what, though, that RedFrame Sport sounds sweet!
