  1. Well, my-my. Just lately, I've noticed my Battery (Charge) Warning Light flickering dimly at idle. The charge voltage at the added Accessory Jack is about 13.2 at idle and 14.2 above 2000 rpm. The charge voltage tops out at 14.35v and the light goes out. Below that is a very dim flicker. Just enough to give me the heebie-jeebies. Later V11 do not have this Battery Warning Light, having both left and right turn signal indicators instead. So, some kind of voltage drop to across the headstock into the dash? Flinky bulb holder? Smokin' ground fault?

    Rear Axle

    1) Agreed, but since the wheels are different widths, it's worth being aware before having something machined. SP can pull his and inspect/compare if he ends up with a later axle. 2) Yeah, I think the nuts are the same, but I think the RH sides in 2000 vs 2002 take a different size hex wrench - and I think the 2002 takes a larger wrench. Ah, gotcha. Wow, my (2000) right side hex drive is 10mm. Bigger than that?

    Rear Axle

The swingarms are the same, yes? So, the axle should be the same. The nut on the early axles is 27mm hex tool size.
  4. The clutch is contained pretty well within the flywheel and not likely to get ruined from that venting failure. By removing the starter, and the right side inspection plug, you can clean all that out with a spray solvent like Electronics Cleaner. There are only six or eight other places it can leak inside there . . .
  5. With, basically no hose attached to the crankcase vent, I would expect a lot of oil to come splashing out, especially as rpm rises. That said, check also the braided oil lines between the cylinders and the distributor blanking plate. For sure this is not gearoil from the left rear top of the gearbox where the frame mount can get broken?
  6. The trouble is not in the supply, it is that your regulator is installed on the right side of the tank. You'll have to plumb the return back to that for correct fuel pressure.
  7. Visible at the top right of this view of the back of the engine case is the actual crankcase vent that the hose fastens to :
  8. Those hoses are exposed to some nasty chemistry and just go bad after a while. You do have the factory airbox and the hose that connects the top front of the spine to the airbox?
  9. The practice of cleaning and "evening out" the pistons at every tire change has really improved my brakes.
  10. Thanks again for describing this test. After cleaning the pistons and performing the above test, the brakes are still dragging - not spinning freely. So I guess that means it's time for a rebuild kit... It's not easy to find seals for these Brembo P4 30/34mm 4-piston calipers. I found a kit on eBay in the UK that fits a 1995 Ducati 900SS (same brakes as V11). http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ducati-Supersport-900-900SS-Superlight-1995-Brembo-front-brake-caliper-seal-kit-/161086784313?hash=item2581854339:g:1gwAAMXQAEFSC8nk&vxp=mtr That's gonna cost $70 and take 3 weeks. Anybody know a US-source? I linked this in the "Wheels Off maintenance Checklist"
  11. I used to be a fan of overfilling the sump slightly (3.5 liters = 3.7 US quarts), but fought oil leaks so long, I renege.
  12. So, for one thing, it sounds like the answer to the original post "What (newer) Guzzi would follow the V11?" has been nominated: 1200 SPORT! And the 4v/ cylinder was never imported to the US in a 1200 Sport? ("There are 2 1200 motors. One with 2 valves per cylinder and one with 4 valves per cylinder.") ("There was an 8V 1200 Sport. But it was never imported.")
  13. I see the makings of a BCSpine Raid!
  14. Three makes a proper *collection* . . . . . . two is just a coincidence.
  15. Here is an excerpt from guzzler about his V11: "I was gone the moment I hit the starter and she exploded into life." http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=20137&p=225499
  16. Wow, the 1200Sport : " . . . the cream of the Carcs."
  17. What about pulling Relay2 or replacing it with a spare? Did you inspect the headlamp bulb or pull it and see if the fuse still blows?
  18. What kind of "warning light" is wired to the coils? Isn't that an unused connector?
  19. PM sent
  20. Right? Surely-to-goodness there will be a modern LeMans? . . . . a next-gen big block Sport? I ponder the new small block with some 6 or 7 inch suspension travel (a true "scrambler") or go full-in with a 3 cylinder diesel military bike. (Not my idea! Ing. Gulio Carcano said it first!)
  21. Last year, Moto Guzzi revealed nothing new at EICMA in November. Surely, this year (so close to the 100th anniversary) , they'll be teasing us with something . . . At this point, the Griso is as close as it gets.
  22. For *whatever* reason, those throttle body mount screws are seriously LocTited, or maybe staked, and never meant to be removed. When my throttle bodies were replaced under warranty for the pesky shaft drip, we crabbed the frame to get the assembly in and out.
  23. Todd made a refund. Of course the toe piece is cast into the factory levers and would have to be removed and the lever drilled to fit these folding pieces.
  24. Thanks, gentlemen. Entirely true about the tail light (doh- I knew that!)... Consider visually inspecting the wiring harness along the frame where you can see it along the frame for any signs of melting or rodent damage.
