  1. Riding this weekend, up around the lakes, the question of what exhaust best compliments a Guzzi was great discussion between companions. The recurring theme? Mistral. Mistral, mistral, mistral wind!
  2. Seems the best match I found was Testor's Italian Red. I was informed that "model paint" would have no proper hardeners for an "automotive" application, but I figured it would be ok for touch up. I remember the talk about that UK tool box (Halibrand?) paint. At the time, I wondered if Craftsman toolbox red (or even this HF red) would be a good match, but IDK.
  3. yep. Somethings not right in there. It has a *history* . . .
  4. The only V11 presence more poignant than The Greene Attitude: RedFrame porn . . .
  5. I defer to Scud, The One Man Spine Raid: there must be some stuff on there from the factory. (Probably a very thin olive oil based thing . . . )
  6. Back to The Seal Whisperer . . .
  7. No sealant from the factory (O-ring only, and as czaaky suggested: O-rings leak when they get square!)), but there are those who have added a smear trying to get the leak under control. Too much sealant or poor seating of the sensor and the cam signal changes the ignition timing (ungood).
  8. = "Phædrus" . . .
  9. And this is a return to a long, drawn-out saga . . . nuts Last "inner" seal lasted almost 5 years (~21,000 miles).
  10. Had a Pirsig moment on this weekend's ride to the lakes on the KY-TN. Like Pirsig's motorcycle trip, my son was along (on his own Guzzi). Not an hour out I spot a red-wing black bird as we pull away from a stop. I honestly cannot remember the last one I've seen. "RED WING BLACKBIRD!" I holler and point. Then I say out loud, in my helmet, "I've seen MILLIONS of those, Dad!" An instantaneous moment of differential significance.
  11. Just couldn't get happy about this:
  12. Back from a 601 mile weekend touring the lakes and waterways on the TN-KY border. Love this bike, "turned over" 102,000 miles 165.000 km.
  13. Well, you can see the CO Fuel Trim existing setting when cold, but cannot change it until the motor is at operating temperature.
  14. No, not different, I just haven't looked at my own bike for a while. I don't remember how to find the error codes. Or how to clear them.
  15. Yeah, as gstallons said, the seal has likely swollen or as Scud is about to say, someone smeared some adhesive/ gasket sealer on it. once the fasteners are out, you can try carefully turning the sensor while continuing to lift it out a little at a time. Mine was also leaking through the wire lead, which I ended up using JBWeld to seal up. It's continued to work for a long time now. My oil sender has never leaked, but don't let it hear me say that . . .
  16. I'm due to upgrade lighting on my funky, old Sport. Thanks for posting this option. I still can't figure out how to mount a Mars light and the horns that go with it . . . . But I want to . . .

    Champagne wishes...

But . . . I'm distracted by how gnarly that V11 looks like it sits . . . I think you should even ride it without the seat. Grrrrrrrr::::: I mean: look at that pattern of *trellis* rear subframe tubes . . . I have never seen that aspect of this design before . . . Your bike isn't really "naked" unless you can see its *skeleton* . . .

Two different fuel pumps leaked? Makes me think the blockage is downstream . . .
  19. The original and actual V11 ECU Reprogramming and Diagnostics thread may be the better place to ask this. http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=17865&page=18&do=findComment&comment=219698 I don't remember guzzidiag offering me error codes or clearing on my 2000 15M?

    Seat Release

Adjusts the shock's compression damping. As I recall it only affects the low speed inputs. High-speed compression (pot holes, road seams, etc.) are built into the valving and not adjustable. Setting the *clicks* 1/2 way should provide 75% of the compression damping (REF: Peter Verdone). On the original Sachs-Boge, rebound damping is adjusted with the anodized blue knurled knob on the shock shaft (same: 1/2 the *clicks*: 3/4 of the damping). Preload is adjusted using the anodized blue lock rings that are best accessed with the tank and airbox off (read: *not very accessible*).
  21. Yep - Stelvio. maybe the idle is simply too low?
  22. Do these fairings have the manufacturer molded into them?
  23. So, simplest, cheapest "stop-gap" could be to increase rear pressure and preload. Then, lower the triple clamps on the forks just 5mm. Make sure your steering damper is backed all the way off. My Sport had the exact same high speed weave around the trucks. HATED IT!
  24. For reference, the "Amazon" jack is 3 1/4" collapsed.
  25. Speedhut got my gauges back yesterday and shipped them back to me today.
