Trip odo reset should offer you a tiny knurled knob on the left side of the speedo. Reverse threaded, it is rotated CCW to roll the trip odometer. If it's missing, shine a light in the hole there and see if there are some bare male threads to latch onto. Does the trip odometer turn with the miles?

Good point! i have recently seen an '02 LeMans hang its throttle rod on the speedometer drive below the right throttle body.

The idle should be higher than 1000 rpm (the manual says 1050, but I prefer a bit higher). The idle is set by performing the tuning sequence. A basic procedure is posted here: Decent Tune-up
