  1. Check on that linked part number for the Sport 1100 ("PIASTRA COLLEG" 12 02 83 00) with MGCycle, Harper's MotoInt'l , wherever . . . The case itself was replaced on mine. Is that still available? Otherwise, if had my crack *welded*, I would definitely want the tertiary support at the front of the gearbox.
  2. Sacrilege! Heretic! Scuristo!
  3. True, that. And (as I recall), the later spine frames eliminated the mounting tabs for the middle mounting plate. We've seen a few of these fractures at the left frame mount to the gearbox. Seems they have all been early short frames. Have there been any on later (2002-2005) long frames?
  4. I keep a Honda nearby for this very idea that something should be easy, ready, and low demand. My Sport has been really reliable over its 100,000+ miles only needing a trailer once (broken stator wire), and a jump start once (loose battery positive). Yet, taking on a 16-17 year old Guzzi? I would expect an *acclimation period* to build a happy and predictable "relationship." Looks like a late model Bonnie could be your most reliable standby?
  5. This is where my gearbox cracked and the case was replaced under warranty. I *theorized* the spine frame mount is vulnerable there because of the extreme distance between only frame mounting points at the back of the gearbox and the timing chest. I added (back) the frame to bell housing mounting plate (used on pre-V11 spine frames) to give the spine a third (middle) mounting point and *help* relieve the stress on that rear-most mounting boss. http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1797&p=17967 http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1797&p=28651
  6. Have you checked with Moto International in Seattle? They sold quite a few V11 *back in the day* . . .
  7. moved here for better discussion to help Salva in Chile . . .

Hi, Salva! Since no one can reply to the "Classified" threads, I will move your question to "Technical Topics" and get some discussion there. http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=19825 Good luck!
  9. I know . . . let's ask some of the other *inmates* here on the psych floor . . .
  10. Uhh, this isn't "cornering grind" it's not being careful and sliding the extended sidestand on the pavement while pushing the bike backwards. No, it's not me. I know how vulnerable to damage those suckers are. I'll reroute the hoses tomorrow. Thanks.. Ok - I can see that now. It's the "backside" of the sidestand, not the "tip" that would drag in a corner. Dragging the bike backward on the stand looks to be a *bad idea*
  11. Looks we've mixed a couple topics here. The issue of V11 (especially early) tanks trapping almost a gallon of fuel in the right "pannier" remains a frustration. But this thread got resurrected by guzzidude1100i (Welcome back, man! sorry your first registration got lost in a rare *server migration* ) Now, maybe we need a separate thread to consider your injector cleaning question (they're difficult to remove). But, why the concern about cleaning the injectors?
  12. The tubular spacers are in the rear wheel, no?
  13. Yeah, there is a "channel" in the starter cover for the crankcase vent return hose. The other line (tank vent?) is most often groomed behind the starter itself (next to the gearbox). Sidestands that suffer from the *cornering grind* are an indicator that the springs and suspension are not well spec'd to the rider's, er *mass* . . . and the suspension sags. (Tried to say that in a nice way . . . )
  14. Or is it... grey? But did you expect this: Is it grey as in aluminum - or as in aluminium? Um . . . early Sport (Brembo pattern) wheels are all *silver* as in "grigio." Which is decidedly 'brighter' than gray, or grey, or even aluminum, or aluminium . . . but, really, just *silver* . . . any red wheels on V11 were done "at the owner's discretion." Or indiscretion, as one sees fit . . .
  15. I've used blank circuit board epoxied and clamped, but got better (thinner) results with common fiberglass repair kits available at auto parts stores. Plus, no worry about epoxying a clamp to your side cover . . .
  16. That is so great, your BIN work, Meinolf! Version 48?
  17. He's certainly the man when "the line between the lines doesn't line up with the lines!"
  18. Best of luck with this. If you find a reception with Piaggio, plese ask for the production of the entire V11 series. After this much time, perhaps they wil be willing . . .
  19. All of these specific numbers are applicable to 25ºC/77ºF: If it's a newly shipped battery, hook a light bulb (load) and a voltmeter to it for a few minutes (two-three) and look back at the voltage (Open Current Voltage/OCV) after at least six hours later ("overnight"). 12.84v = 100% 12.65v = 85% and the battery should be *charged*.
  20. As a way to, perhaps vicariously, gather the gumption to refit the Sport's *front end*, I seized upon this glorious phrase: "impossibly luscious"
  21. Flow bench!?! It's a wonder my fettling made any good difference at all!
  22. heh! "Out (there) standing in my own field"
  23. Here's to March in Indiana ! "In like a lion," indeed! But "grey" alternator covers? "Black" alternator covers? WOT? No zinc chromate?!?

at least you are a domestic(ated?) hero having evacuated your daughter's room of Guzzi parts. I have boys, so they would be perfectly content to co-habitate with motorcycle parts!

Haha, I had to laugh reading that as, "I wheelied this one out into the sun." Or would that be spelled "wheelie-ed?" . . . wheely'd?
