  1. You could be dropping out a relay, especially Position #5 and/or Position #1 on early Sports. (What year is your Sport?) See Relay Alternatives. Also, perform a "Decent Tune-up" and let's see if that solves the scary trouble! Kiwi_Roy has a couple test points that you can verify function of your Ignition Switch and other important switches: (Sidestand Switch/ Run Switch combination).
  2. The Zooks are cartridge forks, aren't they? I reckon so?
  3. Curious to see the amount of wear at the flywheel engagement. Word is I have probably made mine worse with the habit of staying in gear with the clutch lever held in at stops . . . Otherwise, just friction discs? Not pressure plate/springs/flyweel?
  4. Good question about the procedure applying to *other* forks? (The *other* V11 forks are a couple different types of Marzocchi?)
  5. +1 on the Techron!
  6. clutches and flywheels and throw-out bearings, OH MY!
  7. Looks good there! If the breather hose doesn't take care of it, then on to the back of the motor and those leak sources. Too many have changed the rear main seal and neglected the other sources that Mr. Roper has detailed for us.
  8. So, yes, the breather hose can leak down through the "bell housing" without much spill on the outside. http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=18243&hl=bell%20housing%20oil%20weep%20hole&page=1 There are several likely sources beyond the rear engine main seal. Here is Pete Roper's (colorful) take on the matter: http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=3751&p=35372 Look, also, at the vestigial distributor blanking plate that uses an O-ring to seal.
  9. Seems the Quota had a unique frame (not a spine). I would go for one of the khaki/spruce green jobs from ~2000 . . .
  10. I've got that connector really tucked up and shielded. Probably can't get to it until the next "tank off."
  11. Yes, I removed my headlamps (and horns) from the factory relay circuits (and from the switches). Somehow, my R/R throws 14.2 v.
  12. The ideal is not to track the rear directly behind the front? Or is it? (Ideal?)
  13. Looks like a little nibble out of the right hand intake? but no damage to the wiring?
  14. Another trusted friend shared with me that he was letting his 550 pound bike down on the lift and there was a 5 gallon bucket, out of sight, on the right side. The entire lift, bike mounted, tipped his way pinching the pneumatic lift hose. A cell phone on his person brought assistance as he was right trapped. So, I ALWAYS visually inspect the right side of the lift before letting down.
  15. Looks like you and Scud are brothers!
  16. Soooo, that my headlamps are separated to dedicated circuits might be leading my Ducati Energia to charge at 14.2v (good for the PC545 AGM battery instead of that R/R's preset 13.8v (which is not perfect for the AGM)?
  17. Haha - I remember this "air gap" (*luftkammer*) business being so confusing. I use 100mm. Less "air gap"= stiffer, more air "chamber" = softer? Spring/spacer in? Can't remember.
  18. Hm - and here I really felt like taking the extra effort to center the track really made a difference on my Sport. Dunno. Maybe not.
  19. Thanks, guys. A little dose of humility is always better than a broken hand. I'll go back to using the (bent) stop rod. I could not imagine going without this lift!
  20. +1: http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=17865(ECU reprogramming/ guzzidiag) http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=19612(Diagnostic Cables) But consider, first, removing the PC and performing a "Decent Tune-up:" http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=19610
  21. A few weeks ago, a friend stopped by and commented on my Sport parked on the lift with the valves about eye level, "You don't use the stop rod? Isn't that hard on the seals?" Well . . . . I dunno? I notice the power company parks all its bucket trucks with the booms fully extended. Why do they do that? Am I damaging my hydraulic cylinder with the bike parked at working height? (It has never sagged.)
  22. Another one for the En-psycho-pedia of Parts?
  23. There must be a million hammers under all those covers! (+1 on the good looking Guzzi! )
  24. Nice! Pretty courageous to make one of these bikes into what we see of them. Coppa LeMans! Hey, maybe you should post on the currently active "lifts" thread. Looks like you have a unique method there. Not sure what is being done with the ratchet strap to the factory stand?
  25. There is a certain alluring elegance in fotoguzzi's chain falls; like the thrill and fright of watching Romanain girls on trapeze high in the tent . . .
