  1. Yes, truly . . . that rear stand? And would ya look at that alternator cover? A think of beauty!
  2. As for validity, I have heard that NASA tested numerous methods for obtaining correct torque on a fastener and found no more accurate than the hand of an experienced technician. While that may (or may not) be *urban legend,* it is well known on the racing circuits that some drivers have a dyno-tuned ass. Say, Niki Lauda for instance:
  3. Are there any dyno charts that compare this quantitatively on a single bike? It's just that there are so many parameters between two separate bikes' *feel.* Oh yes, on the controlled environment of Coaltrack Road Raceway, Dangerous used a time honored & proven power assessment tool. That was mostly roaring down the road and comparing the result against a calibration chart that read: Yawn, meh, ok, alright, great, awesome, f?#k. Not very accurate, but improves with the retelling. Ah, technically speaking, then: palliative resolution of cognitive dissonance.
  4. Agreed with LowRyter, yet your 2001 has only a 4.5 inch rim and was delivered with a 170. Many have found a 160 has more desirable handling a wear characteristics. Your 2004 is a 2nd Gen V11 (2002-2004) and has a 5.5 inch rear and uses the 180 (or 170) you reference.
  5. AFAIK, this was never an issue with the Sport/LeMans V11 motor . . .
  6. Pl Plus the "additional" 300 un-numbered Rosso Mandello = 1470?
  7. 20w-50 anything. Also, very common in the US, diesel rated Rotella T 15w-40.
  8. Nice! You're in the right place! Mistral canisters, Stucchi rack, Tekno mounts (did you get the bags?), and look at that *yellow* spring (rare Öhlins shock)! Looks like maybe a late 2002 with the fairing and tail section painted black?

  10. (messy) self-adhesive, heat hardening exhaust tape Josh knew about and came from an "AutoZone" down the street. We were actually stranded in the parking lot of a Guzzi dealer if that says anything about Josh's resourcefulness. Like this stuff: http://www.globalindustrial.com/p/vehicle-fleet-maintenance/automotive-detailing-interior-/vehicle-cleaners-waxes-polish/muffler-tailpipe-wrap-00270-2-x-36-tape The guy with the Rosso Corsa went on the have the bungs welded up and eliminate the crossover.
  11. I recently gave up on Lucas when they would not confirm their base oil in the 20w-50 product. I suspect it is nothing special. Can you get RedLine 20w-50? If so, I would think there would be no need for an additive . . .
  12. Hey! i resemble that remark! In that we were a couple hundred miles from home, "field expedient" seems more flattering . . .
  13. Yer new to Guzzi ain't ya? There is that . . . Yet, in all fairness, I am much, much less enamored with my BMW ownership than what Moto Guzzi has done during my ownership experience. Part of that was the effort of my (fabulous) dealer; part also a willingness toward "owner involvement." While Guzzi production numbers in the V11 series have yet to be published (to my knowledge ), how many units could possibly be involved with aluminum flywheels (2001 Rosso Mandello, 2002 Scura and Tenni), perhaps as many as 2500? Or fewer?
  14. Hey, we only went those lengths because the ones we made the prior year from DosXX bottle caps didn't hold. Well, that and the crossover pipe went bounding down the road at speed . . .

  16. Scud . . . buddy . . . . that photo of your garage? Somewhere between inspiring and disturbing. Some mix of Blade Runner and Tron. Be careful out there, man . . . jus' sayin' . . . . Reminds me of this scene from the first Star Wars . . .
  17. Haha - can't live down a busker's ruse! Made it as far as the (NC) state line escorting another SpineRaider on the way to his fresh tire . . .

    3D Gambalungha badges

Thanks to sp838 for producing these emblems and making them available! http://www.shapeways.com/product/ABDSPQG9A/gambalunga-badges-both-no-steel
  20. I figure it this way: no one seems to have any photographic evidence of The Inaugural South'n Spine Raid (four of us in 2004). Then, nobody-but-nobody met for the "second", so next year (2017) is SSR#1 + fart'een. Goozee-math! Otherwise, be sure to keep your Ravelli aqilla facing forward, and change your oil religiously (like with incense or incantations). Not that we are superstitious sorts. Nope-nope, not we Italian motorbike sorts. Not us, nope. Knock on wood. nudge-nudge, wink-wink ; / Know what I mean- know what I mean?

    Zinc chromate

There. I fixed it for ya. As for emblematic... and your emblems... Where are they going? Or did you get all 4? Silver with red bird would probably look good on the ZC cover. That would probably look good on the triple clamp and the porkchops too. "Enigmatic," indeed! Too funny! I just got two, but only plan to replace the one on the alternator cover. Not sure what to do with the other. I think it looks good just below the instruments on the mounting bracket. The existing eagle badge on the the triple clamp is obscured on my Sport by the Moto Guzzi key fob a friend gave me from a trip to Agostini's in Mandello.

    Zinc chromate

Well, now, since no one has sent me links to absurdly expensive beryllium fasteners from some Space Program supplier, I'll just have to move on . . . The Agulia badges came today, and they may be the tightest 3D prints I have seen. Now, to decide whether to paint their background silver or make them zinc chromate. The lovely Gambalunga logo (in honor of Luciano Marabese) will be left red. To match my true-and-proper early RedFrame . . .
