  1. Don't get me started! The progressive innovators of NZ lost the vote for the flag change to the stuck in the past, no change bog dwellers. So the NZ flag still looks like the 'straylian flag. A crying shame. Just think how the Austrians feel trying to explain that they absolutely do not, ever, have kangaroos . . .
  2. The degree of levity needed to keep this thread open is going to be a challenge. Jus' sayin' . . .
  3. Do these auto reset? Only once did this fuse "blow" on my Sport (because of a loose positive connection at the battery). Without charging, the bike eventually starting running rough, then the battery warning light came on (later V11 do not have these), then : roadside. Excellent. It's on the way. Thanks, gentlemen! Too cool: fixing my Sport with airplane parts!

  5. I'm liking this solution. I suppose it is important to stay with the 30 amp rating?
  6. Nice, Chuck! The picture stays small when clicked. You have some model details on it? ("air pig" - anyone that's carried one of these around appreciates that phrase! )
  7. I'm already using a circuit breaker for my headlamp circuit. Would this work for the charging/regulator circuit? (Realizing the 'screw termination' will have to be managed for the self-same heat issues that apply to fuse blocks.)
  8. You know you've asked the right question when the answers are unexpected and uplifting!
  9. Sixteen seconds into the ride video, a truck passes on the *unexpected* side of the road startling the per-jeebers out of all the Yanks! if I can get the rallye, I should ride around in a cab . . .
  10. By "free world," I assume you mean New Zealand. Did they ever choose new flag?
  11. Leaves are falling, temperatures are dropping, and it won't be long before we begin longing for the Fourteenth South'n Spine Raid. If you're looking for an invitation to a non-event that doesn't technically exist, here it is: Weekend after Labor Day, Tellico Plains Get there. Bring tools. Early TechSession suggestion is that Scud is going to come take apart four V11 and make three good ones out of the parts. They'll be fabulous machines, lots of dark parts, but somebody is walking home . . .
  12. One aspect of air compressors I learned too late is that the oil-less units (which are cheaper and require less maintenance?), are REALLY noisy. I mostly use mine to air up the ridiculous number of pneumatic tires I've come to own, keep my portable air tank topped up, and occasionally use the compressed air to blow off or dry parts. Seems air tools are for working fast and are not for "polished things . . ."

    Custom seats

I've long looked at the shape of the "bum stop" on the Sport and thought I would like it better shaped differently. I realize Guzzi had to provide for a pillion, but I'd likely lose that for the sake of vanity and style. So, post your custom seats here and let's have a look-see . . .
  14. I was talking with a guy in Texas who said they cannot get zero ethanol fuels, which surprised me since there are oil wells and refineries there. What about Europe, Australia, New Zealand? Canada?
  15. See? That is totally bad-ass. Red, and everything. "Wires up to 4AWG" . . . that's like welding cables, yeah?
  16. Available fuels vary significantly across the globe. No question, the V11 runs better on higher octane (measures vary geographically). And the V11 Acerbis hydroscopic Nylon (*plastic*) tank will be ever sensitive to the *binary azeotropes* associated with ethanol combined with gasoline. While gasoline fuels in the USA are typically combined with "up to 10%" ethanol, what is the status of fuels in the rest of the world? I ask because we share various tuning parameters and procedures, yet I have found that running "pure" (zero ethanol) fuels perform exceptionally well in my V11. I would number zero-ethanol fuel as one of the three major factors that contribute to my V11's best performance. Recently, I was asked if Europe has the same ethanol fuel composition we do in The States. So, please, would you mind posting the status of fuel composition where you live?
  17. If it is suddenly blowing black smoke, I would be concerned that something has gone awry beyond the basic settings, but they are worth resetting. Then, it's on to troubleshooting and fine tuning!
  18. I have that "brass" hammer, second form the right, above, but have never considered a pure copper hammer . . . I have long wanted one of these "Non-sparking Aluminum-Bronze" jobs:
  19. Simplest baseline, the "Decent Tune Up" (not the last word, by any means): http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=19610&p=213277
  20. Well, I certainly fitted a new fuse and tried to "clean" the fuse holder (scrubbed the female spade connectors with a jewelers file and tightened them with some slip-joint pliers; sprayed the connectors with Caig DeOxit/Gold, Vaseline on the spades). On my third fuse holder, so not feeling very confident at this point. Sure, I could run a screw into it, but the screw head will be +/ hot and have to be insulated from its surroundings. I thought of using a couple wraps of electrical tape, but don't find that to be a very elegant solution . . . Perhaps I've let my ground path get funky. One of the troubles with having one bike for so long, you may be led to think, "I fixed that already."
  21. That is so fabulous on so many levels!
  22. All of the connections, including the main gearcase ground, battery terminals, and the starter mounting bolts, have been cleaned and the best contact is being made at all points?
  23. Makes perfect sense, yet this is the biggest, bestest fuse holder I could find. Maybe someone has a link to some marine or aircraft grade MAXI fuse holder?
  24. Heh - just back from a short ride on a fresh(er) seat that I got from footgoose. Whew - apparently 100,000+ miles are a bit hard on seat foam . . . this is much better. Now to take my original seat to make the custom that I'm being brewing up. We'll have to have a Custom Seat thread!

    Champagne wishes...

Isn't that what V7s (and V9s) are for?
