    Scura handling

Thanks for posting, Sierra77! I'm not entirely convinced that is "Scura specific." The Scura Registrar can decide whether to let this topic run here in the registry. Otherwise, I would suggest we move it to 24/7 V11 and get some broader input and opinions about potential solutions. Simple enough to start with tires (what make/model are you running, sizes (especially the rear), tire pressures, age of the tires? Yet, I suspect we'll be getting into suspension set-up pretty quickly. First, where is your steering damper set? Riding a little over 300 miles today, I thought about this a lot. Now, I'm more curious than ever. I can't imagine the Scura is harder to ride around than an 1100 Sport! Gotta be some simple set-up . . . make sure your steering damper is backed fully off, and air up the tires (I like 35/40). Fresh tires may help and a 170 on the rear instead of the stock 180 fitment may be helpful. Let us know what you find!

Also, http://www.tlm.nl/en/parts/new-parts/partsmanuals/ I'm sure the ring bound Workshop Manual have gotten rather rare. Apparently, only two versions were printed.
  4. Thanks, rwake, for the info! Consider a photo hosting site to post a link? I use PhotoBucket, but I know there are others. Would love to see a photo of your set-up . . . anything with paracord has to be cool . . .
  5. Every time I think I went for a ride (big 313 miles for the Sport today), Scud goes out for a thousand and has alien encounters. Sheesh, things are just bigger out west! Thanks for the pictorial, Scud! You're an inspiration, man!
  6. Ahhh, I like mine aged at least 15 years.... uuh, the Girls & Guzzis thread is in another subforum.

  9. Seriously, I know I should not be surprised at the stunning cars that V11 guys drive, but WOW! I'm glad Jaap asked!
  10. Haha - this thread got moved to "silly banter" - let's not think the Admins aren't looking! We love you, too, Jaap!
  11. Let's face it - I owe everybody here a beer . . .
  12. I do this for you guys. So we all have some reason to think. And drink I sent Marty over with that beer I owe ya. If he didn't make it, we know where the beer went.
  13. Considering some of the typical electrical issues encountered on Moto Guzzi, especially grounding (earthing), I got to wondering how these motorcycles found their way out of northern Italy. By train to LeHavre, ship's hold across the oceans? Containerized in Mandello del Lario through to their distant destinations? Donkey cart to Venezia, then gondola to offshore pirate vessels? How much could overseas shipping figure into some corrosive irritability?
  14. No surprise that Moto Guzzi would have built numerous "specials" in the final year of the V11 series. All the more rare!
  15. All this technology makes me feel warm and fuzzy about my pushrods!
  16. More importantly, if you were to wire your shoe phone directly to your V11 loom, should you go directly from the battery, or use the kind of fuse commonly employed to detonate charges?
  17. I had understood that it is the 13.8 volt charge setting of that regulator. Odyssey is adamant that the PC545 requires 14.2-14.6 volts to charge at normal ambient temperatures. Fairly brief summary in the other, lengthy thread posted here: http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=18838&p=208786
  18. I hope I haven't overblown the Odyssey PC545 conditioning in my other thread. With my batteries lasting the better part of ten years, I can't fault them even with the "normal" chargers I was using. Letting them go flat before trying to recover them is obviously ungood, but that seems valid for any rechargeable batteries. Not sure why my Sport will charge at 14.2v even though the headlight is wired directly from the battery?
  19. Alternate tightening method: Once the (lubricated) filter gasket makes contact, turn an additional 1 and 1/8 (one full plus one-eighth) turns.
  20. trasmissione posteriore, what we English speakers would call the Rear Drive or Bevel Box. Not the "gearbox" which we English speakers might call the "transmission."
  21. Good linkage alignment: http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=18593&p=198257
  22. I swear there is a post somewhere with a photo of two different length actuating rods. Others remember this? Where is it?
  23. There are more than a couple "accepted" procedures for performing the tune-up. Sounds like yours could use a do-over. Zeroing the CO and baselining the TPS are certainly critical first steps along with "world" valve specs. It is quite easy to not get the right throttle plate entirely closed (for several reasons) causing the ECU to be reading the map in the wrong rpm range. Also, quite common to want the motor to idle too low. The AXONE will confirm the actual idle rpm relative to any tachometer error. Finally, the throttle body balance is best performed "off idle" (perhaps above 2000 rpm) while the air bypass screws may be used to fine tune the idle balance (I find mine runs best with the air bypass out about one full turn, not the Workshop Manual procedure calling for 1/2 turn.
  24. That was a great time riding the bridges with you guys and lunching at The Manatee River! Looks like baffi e Chiacchieroni may only make it as far as the Cumberland Plateau this year!
