Nineteenth South'n Spine Raid 2023 Tennessee USA

Oh! Gotta pack! > Longsleeves (turning off on the chilly side over yonder) > Socks and underwear (in case "anyone" asks) > Relays > O-rings (hoping "no one" asks) > Relays > Zip-ties > Spare reaction rod bolt (these hardly ever break!) > Relays . . . did I mention the relays . . . -

It seems @ScuRoo has given us our theme music for this year's XIX SSR . . . -
I've never ridden Maui, but leaving the South'n Spine Raid to cross the Appalachian Divide often takes us into the "cloud ceiling." Some call it "fog", and I suppose "dew." The cloud ceiling often lies at 1500 feet above sea level. The pass over the divide is some 5800 feet. That is a long ride through the cold, damp "dew" with limited visibility. Read: "sucky riding conditions."

Best emoojis on the whole interwebs!

What position did the damaged OMRON come out of? That could be an indication of a connection issue on that circuit causing voltage spikes. Most especially, damage to the yellow output wires at the stator can destroy the regulator and relays.

I swear-to-Waddington I never meant to go this course a week out. But, they revealed themselves. What can I do? "Get there. Bring Tools." -
As for relays, here is the current (pun intended!) selection. The Pickers Components are very slightly preferred over the CIT (same company, we think): And the bases are not so much about "changing the holder", but making certain they are tight and conductive (i.e. Caig DeOxit®) . . .

Welcome, @DucatiGuzziIndian! You are certainly in the right place to sort, ride, and enjoy a Moto Guzzi V11 Sport! Out of everything you posted, this statement struck a chord, "I'm a hands on, workshop capable person ." I recall an early journalist commenting on the V11 Sport (might have been Gordon Jennings, I'll have to look for the reference. Thus, I paraphrase. Emphasis added): "It is an interesting motorcycle that may require some owner involvement." It also occurs to me to say, "Let's ask the other inmates on the ward if we're really crazy."

I'm unclear if @cowtownchemist is asking about the Superspring (available from @Scud), or the LuckyPhil shift extender that @Chuck has produced in the past. Or both.

Our plans to ride into north Georgia, Suches (TWOS) and maybe lunch there, or in Ducktown at Rod's Rockin' Rolls looks like good thinking. Remember, there is no "group ride", no Road Captain, no route plan, no:seriously. Take a look at the area, have a ride plan, make friends. "Get There. Bring Tools ." With my best navigator talents, I have to declare the Cherohala a No-Go. Not even to Bald River Falls . . . -
Should be able to loosen the clamp, rotate the head where it is accessible, clean the joining surfaces, and push the hose back on. Do not overtighten. I like using P80 temporary rubber assembly lube, but common isopropyl alcohol works, too.

EUREKA! Definitely worth checking throttle body balance . . .
-
On to the other parameters that affect idle, then. TPS, of course, and throttle body synch. Even some seemingly minor tweaking of these critical settings can make for profound outcomes . . .
-
Just to clarify, @Scud, wasn't your RAM the very last of the 6speed RAM units before only the current 5speed RAM unit became all that is available?
-
Okay, here is a post by @Scud listing the requirements to fit the RAM unit to a V11 where the Scura hub is specified: Another post, in that same thread, by @Tinus89 stating the RAM input hub for the 6speed (no longer available) is the same as a V11 Scura/Tenni/Rosso Mandello input hub:
-
Isn't the V11 single plate clutch input hub (Scura/Tenni/Rsoso Mandello) already just that? Pretty sure this is the hub that mates the RAM unit to the V11 6speed . . . (I'll look, again, for a reference to that . . .)
-
There are folks here that have been through this. For some reason, I was thinking you simply use the input hub already on the Scura?
-
Well, they fit for sizes that are hard to find otherwise. I have not found them to be particularly durable or long-lasting. They "stick" and handle decently for what I use them on (Honda GB500). I would rather they lasted better, but never want to give up traction for that (again). "I had a bad experience ."

What did you choose for cold valve lash settings?
-
What's wrong with it?
