  1. R.I.P. Jimmy Buffett. Here, I lift "The Parting Glass " . . .
  2. As for relays, here is the current (pun intended!) selection. The Pickers Components are very slightly preferred over the CIT (same company, we think): And the bases are not so much about "changing the holder", but making certain they are tight and conductive (i.e. Caig DeOxit®) . . .
  3. Welcome, @DucatiGuzziIndian! You are certainly in the right place to sort, ride, and enjoy a Moto Guzzi V11 Sport! Out of everything you posted, this statement struck a chord, "I'm a hands on, workshop capable person ." I recall an early journalist commenting on the V11 Sport (might have been Gordon Jennings, I'll have to look for the reference. Thus, I paraphrase. Emphasis added): "It is an interesting motorcycle that may require some owner involvement." It also occurs to me to say, "Let's ask the other inmates on the ward if we're really crazy."
  4. No cap? So, also the internal pump/filter assembly is not included? (Just to clarify . . .)
  5. I'm unclear if @cowtownchemist is asking about the Superspring (available from @Scud), or the LuckyPhil shift extender that @Chuck has produced in the past. Or both.
  6. Our plans to ride into north Georgia, Suches (TWOS) and maybe lunch there, or in Ducktown at Rod's Rockin' Rolls looks like good thinking. Remember, there is no "group ride", no Road Captain, no route plan, no:seriously. Take a look at the area, have a ride plan, make friends. "Get There. Bring Tools ." With my best navigator talents, I have to declare the Cherohala a No-Go. Not even to Bald River Falls . . .

    idle issue

Should be able to loosen the clamp, rotate the head where it is accessible, clean the joining surfaces, and push the hose back on. Do not overtighten. I like using P80 temporary rubber assembly lube, but common isopropyl alcohol works, too.

EUREKA! Definitely worth checking throttle body balance . . .

On to the other parameters that affect idle, then. TPS, of course, and throttle body synch. Even some seemingly minor tweaking of these critical settings can make for profound outcomes . . .
  10. Just to clarify, @Scud, wasn't your RAM the very last of the 6speed RAM units before only the current 5speed RAM unit became all that is available?
  11. Okay, here is a post by @Scud listing the requirements to fit the RAM unit to a V11 where the Scura hub is specified: Another post, in that same thread, by @Tinus89 stating the RAM input hub for the 6speed (no longer available) is the same as a V11 Scura/Tenni/Rosso Mandello input hub:
  12. Isn't the V11 single plate clutch input hub (Scura/Tenni/Rsoso Mandello) already just that? Pretty sure this is the hub that mates the RAM unit to the V11 6speed . . . (I'll look, again, for a reference to that . . .)
  13. There are folks here that have been through this. For some reason, I was thinking you simply use the input hub already on the Scura?
  14. Well, they fit for sizes that are hard to find otherwise. I have not found them to be particularly durable or long-lasting. They "stick" and handle decently for what I use them on (Honda GB500). I would rather they lasted better, but never want to give up traction for that (again). "I had a bad experience ."

What did you choose for cold valve lash settings?
  16. What's wrong with it?
  17. Agreed. Looks like Roadrider is one of the lines with continued support. I hope they also retain production of some the odd, obsolete sizes.
  18. Easy to agree. Sourcing from DigiKey, Mouser, or onlinecomponents has checked out for me. Anyone familiar with the Starter Relay @Sempervee1 is looking for? I was thinking this issue involves a separate relay and a bigger wire to the solenoid (?)
  19. From all of that, I really like this one the best. Mostly because I can't fathom WTF is going on. At all . . .
  20. As has so often been revealed in the history of Moto Guzzi, some corporate ownership has been the passion one man. "Piaggio" = Roberto Colaninno (for Moto Guzzi) ? Thank you for your dedicated passion, Roberto. R.I.P.
  21. I have had quite the opposite outcomes, here, in our ridiculously high ambient temperatures of the US south. I found the ETS/holder material to "heat sink" in these environs. Once it got hot, it would not give up on the idea. Rather like an unnamed lady I once had a relationship with . . .
  22. I have never had any success with rolling the rear tire to locate TDC. Nor with the "straw" method. I do verify loose rockers, by hand, at TDC by cylinder. Sure, maybe Sig. Luigi striking the "D" on your flywheel was on holiday when your flywheel passed the striking station. Maybe it is just very hard to detect, by eye, through the inspection hole . . .
  23. I'll wait for Chuck to present this D-S translation in 'merican English . Indeed the "S" is Italian for left. And +1 on fussing with the alternator cover. Mine is made more complicated by aftermarket FIAMM horns (they are worth the trouble!). Also, be aware of the compromised strain relief of the alternator wiring that must be removed, and refitted, to the top of the cover. Stator failure, and problematic voltage spikes, can result from carelessness or neglect. Inspect your stator wiring and restore the strain relief any time the cover is off. Use a black "zip-tie" instead of the white. The carbon content makes them more durable. I know to turn the motor in its normal rotation, clockwise looking from the front, and even scribed some arrows on the stator face as a reminder. The marking for the right cylinder ("D") is either 90º or 270º from the "S" and I can never remember which cylinder fires "first" and how far to the next. As in: If you find the "S", how far to rotate (clockwise) to the "D?" 90º or 270º? The angle of view through the inspection hole to see these markings is not intuitive. A good light and a lift are quite helpful. Also, the crankshaft counterweights tend to spin the crankshaft suddenly during rotation and fly past the next mark. All of this rotation is best accomplished with the spark plugs removed to eliminate the effects of the compression. While some might say the "D" is Italian for "Destro", I feel certain mySport's marking is "Destra" . . .
