There are several similar bonded pieces on the V11 primarily as shock mounts for the coils (3 each side) and the ECU (4). The coil mounts are especially failure prone. I found that cleaning the surfaces with a suitable high flash point solvent and joining the rubber and steel with a toluene based contact adhesive like Goof-Off or Shoe-Goo (same product, I believe) has been effective. I have not tried this with the sidestand bumper, but it appears to be the same construction.

Two different products; Aluminum Black for the aluminium and the 44/40 for steel. Noticing the raised lettering on the aluminum caliper, I thought it would be straight forward to darken it with the Burchwood-Casey product. For steel, the 44/40 is great for touch-up so would likely do a decent job of dealing with chips and scratches, perhaps bolt heads. It works best on low alloy steels, but beads up and runs off of high chromium (stainless) alloys.

Birchwood-Casey makes a liquid Aluminum Black Metal Touch-up that might come in handy for places like the Brembo logo on the calipers. Also, Formula 44 Instant Gun Blue is a quick and easy way to do up small parts in black like bolt heads or other steel parts. Just trying to get you further down the dark road, man!

The rear of the V11 tank fastenes with a single vertical bolt into the rear subframe ahead of the battery. How does the earlier steel tank bolt up?

In the interest of full disclosure, and just to be sure I'm not vying for poseur-Scura-status . . .gosh . . . I hate to admit this, but - ok: I polished my gear shift lever. There. I said it. Polished. I feel better.

Outside of the Original RedFrame Sport, in silver *of course* , I think the Coppa Italia is the pinnacle of the V11 series. (Oh, please: don't link me to all the other v11 I also love . . . like tennis, and champagne LeMans, and . . . Yet, the prospect of a FalcoDaytona? I pledge the entire support of the forum! (Something, by the way, I have no authority to do whatsoever ) So, is it the look of the original bodywork you're after? Or must it also have the Daytona V10 motor?

+1 on cutting the spacers shorter. I really don't recall getting any instructions with my Teknos new from Moto Guzzi. I kept monkeying around with the mounting points (and spacers) to get them tucked in nicely. I wish they were further forward (I don't carry passengers). I designed these brackets, but never tried to build them:

The spine frames from the Daytona and Sport 1100 are very similar to the two different (but also similar) V11 frames. There were also several variations in the triple clamp geometry. While the forward tank mount is also very similar, the rear of the tank actually bolts to the seat subframe which is something you may plan to change anyway. Seems to me the tank could be "fitted." All fuel pumps prior to the 2003 V11 tank (without chin pad) were external pumps/filters AFAIK. The Centauro spine frame was also similar and carried the Daytona-type V10 4V high-cam motor. Others have put V10 motors in later spine frames, but I've never heard of anyone converting a V11 2V motor to a V10 4V. Agreed with others, better to get a complete motor. I have not heard of anyone trying to fit a later (2005-on) motor into the Spine Frame. So, the design spec would be to create a Nuovo Daytona on a later spine frame with the 6speed gearbox? There may be some value to studying Ghezzi-Brian's similar approaches. I like this idea. I think we should all really coax and encourage you!

I love the way the left red pork chop visually brackets the gold Öhlins reservoir! I the end all of your effort will be a disappearing act , and the fine pieces you want to be seen - the prestige!

Looking great! Like czakky, I'm looking forward to perusing a gallery of The Most Darkened Scura on the planet. Regarding above: what adhesive are you using for the rubber stand stop (and the aguila badge on the alternator cover)? Seems that your regulator ground would serve better to the engine rather than the frame, especially under something as buzzy as the horn mount. The RH oil leak can be narrowed down by cleaning it up, spray on foot powder and inspect/photograph after a short ride. It comes to mind that the oil cooler hoses near there often chaff at the frame and may be weeping.

I, too, love my (early) Tekno panniers. I used to take the racks off every summer (hey, who doesn't want to see his lady dressed skimpy when the weather's right? ), but have left them inplace year 'round for a long, long time. (See "Fixin' It On The Road" for a complete explanation). Just be aware that not only can the sire rack's welds crack, so can the sub-frame tabs for the passenger/exhaust brackets (just sayin'):

The Tekno mounts (and bags) were redesigned at some point, adding some additional bracing especially around the rear.

Seems that riding makes them darker. An apparent overall progression of change . . . "patina" - as the say.

Yeah, I see this: Zadi Group, Modena, Italy They appear related to CEV. That seems familiar, like I've seen it on the V11 somewhere . . . (sorry about the thread drift - I thought if we tracked down this specific part all the applications could be specified.)

I can't imagine that Turn-of-the-Century Moto Guzzi didn't source this as a common part. We should be able to cross reference this, no? (you're a heap of quite smart lads! The V11 fuel filler is not also for Ducati Monster of the same era? And, did the V11 fuel fillers change with the later (2003-2004) internal pump/ no-chin-pad tank?
