  1. Ryland originally did some extensive looking into this. Aside from relying on high quality filters, he found it took 1 and 1/8 full turns once the gasket made contact to get the proper torque on the filter. When I started using this method, I found it was significantly tighter than I was otherwise inclined to go. Part of the issue may harken back to the old recommendation to install canister oil filters (on automobiles) "hand tight." That would certainly NOT be a formula for your V11. Another contributory factor was was early reports of factory filters being so hard to get off that they had to be destroyed to remove making it uneasy for the owner/tech to crank the replacement filter down as tight as it really requires. The access cover can be fiddly to install. Making sure all the threads are clean, and using a little copper anti-seize, makes the process more positive; a procedure to be performed in good light with steady hands. Guzzis stored and ridden in damp environs would benefit from periodic sump removal to clear the mayonnaise off the pick up mesh. I dropped my sump after 12 years/75,000 miles/121.000 km and found very little sludge, but my Sport is stored year round with temperature and humidity control. On a Persian rug. With soft music playing in the background . . .
  2. I think it'll probably run fine and you should ride it and enjoy it! Given your local climate and the way you've kept it, even the fluids are all probably ok.
  3. When was the last time the engine and driveline rolled down the road?
  4. Seriously, though: TomM's pictorial on opening the Veglia speedo (compare to see if the ITI tach is the same) Guzzi2Go's separate-and-tape method.
  5. DO not remove the bezel the same way motowfo did. I'm just sayin' . . .
  6. sculler2x posted a solution here about lubricating the O-rings in the connectors. Also, there have been recommendations to replace the o-rings with Viton.
  7. Just to clarify the post above linking to Bjorn's exhaust build thread: link goes directly to the post that details plugging of the headers and elimination of the cross over pipe.
  8. Best result I've seen, by Bjorn in The Netherlands, Fabricating a 2-1 Exhaust
  9. Another Guzzi saved from the heap. This time by the likes of dd and kiwijen!
  10. Interesting. Yet, we Guzzisti will stop at nothing to do our own work! I see it is in Apeldoorn, but they are not planning on bringing it to you until Monday.
  11. I'll bring the bungies! We already figured out how to get a full case of ale in the Tekno panniers . . .
  12. I've never heard of a pawl spring breaking without leaving the gearbox stuck in some gear. I wish we had a simple solution, but I think Hubert (luhbo) has good advice for you. Does the clutch actuation feel normal? Can you see that the drive shaft is intact and spins when the rear wheel is rolled?
  13. If my back/neck etc were "dis-comfortable," it would be difficult to decide whether to take a long trip on a Sport 1100, a Daytona, or a Ducati SS. The Raiders at Large would yet be most charitable if you showed up in an F150 or Town & Country minivan. Of course they're always looking for someone to go get the pizza since that is one thing that doesn't bungie well!
  14. I think it is amazing that I ordered the solenoid from Colorado, (western) USA, on Tuesday and tonight (Thursday) it has already left France in transit to The Netherlands! Still waiting to hear from Jaap where the unit is stamped made. It certainly would be ironic for it to have been made in France or Belgium and has made a round trip.
  15. Docc, "very likely?" "realistically?" or "for sure." (?) If "for sure", I need to discuss some towing & parking logistics help with someome. We're on! "For sure!" There are a couple Spine Raiders in the vicinity that have offered various assistance. Seems the hospitality stopped short of bail money.
  16. Seven weeks out! Just emailed Walt to start the reservation process. Rather than fix the oil leak on the Sport, I think I'll just bring a rag. Anyone know if minimike's Tellico Motorcycle Outfitters is still open?
  17. Agreed that this and lots of the threads here on 24/7 V11 subforum probably "fit" better in Tech Topics, but it's so common to cross-post tech topics here that it's become de rigeur to simply peruse both subforums for technical postings.
  18. Did the bulbs surrender themselves without a fuss?
  19. Last fuse in the block (position 8). On the original V11 it was used for the electric fuel petcock. Kiwi_Roy likes to use the point to pick up 12vDc power indication.
  20. I can begin this today for you, Jaap! I spoke with EuroMoto and they will ship directly to you. Let me know if you want me to pull the trigger!
  21. 2003 was the last LeMans same as the Cafe sport, however in NZ they weren regestered till 04-05, clasing them as a 05, but they aint only ONE V11 relised in 05, the mysterios Scura R Even the known VIN on Scura R have all been 2004. So far, no true 2005 V11 have been shown. Still looking, though!
  22. I'm liking the Pirelli GT. Much better for the V11 than all of the other Pirellis I've used up. I suppose she qualifies in the "heavier and powerful bikes" with all the weight and torque through that rear tire. Haven't seen the new Pilot Road GT by Michelin. I didn't care for the hard compound of the first generation Pilot Roadrash.
  23. Cool! Looking forward to picture! Depending on what part of Ga, you might be in striking distance of the Tenth South'n Spine Raid in east Tennessee. Never have seen a "2005" LeMans . . . what's the tenth digit on the VIN?
  24. Good news! Well done! Here is the link into that shopping website for the sensor itself. Mercedes Benz - woo'hoo: classy!
