Skeeve had put forth the idea that starting the new model year after the traditional European August holiday month would be sensible. I agree, but I'm not sure they keep track of what month it is in Mandello.

Don't despair! More wear on the left side of the front is pretty normal and doesn't mean bearings necessarily. Expect it to be mighty chilly at those elevations. Along with the fantastic riding!!

When sourcing a filter alternative, I used the specifications in the Owner's Manual for "surface" and "filtering power." I see nothing on flow rate. surface: 1200 cm2 filtering power: 10 mµ

The spray type is even better for those "hard to reach" wet spots!

Another blow to the August break theory.

Sure, another hundred miles and it shows its ugly head. Every thing I fixed so far has tightened it up more and more, but something is still drizzling fresh oil out the weep hole. Now pondering whether to just ride it, put up with the nuisance, and wait for the clutch to start slipping so I can replace that and get the oil leak stopped all while the gearbox is off the engine.

Rode a Triumph Street Triple R today...

Can we hope that the MV Augusta Turismo Veloce Lusso 800 triple will have a sound we would love? (My avatar loves its thumbnail! ) -

Heavy weight Guzzi
docc replied to John in Leeds's topic in Special place for banter and conversation
What a hoot! A Guzzi with a windshield wiper. And the thing still probably doesn't weigh as much as a late model Gold Wing. -

+1 ! -
That is a very nice compliment, but that picture is from the Workshop Manual . . .

Sean, it sounds like the bolt may have broken on removal. Was your ground bolted to the back of the gearbox as in this picture, or into the boss facing right for the actual seat lock release?

Must be a perfect world when your "local Guzzi shop" is Teo Lamers!

Spoken like a true Guzzisto! I thought the Street Triple were going to be the perfect bike. I found it just whiney and peaky. -
John, the V11 have their regulator on, or in, the tank. Is the EV regulator an "inline" unit? You have a part number?

If the bike has not run very much while you have been working on it, perhaps a fluid change and some running in will turn it to 3 drops . . . There are many specialized lubricants which may be helpful in this. Not saying it will "fix" the seal, but perhaps give you some riding time before the swingarm must come back off (at least you are very familiar with this tear down!). I wonder if the seal can be exchanged with the gearbox in place. Seal Whisperers will know . . .

In a very rational sort of way, sure. No doubt, Moto Guzzi has long been known to introduce changes at any time in the production run while mixing various old and new parts perhaps to "use up" old stock. Interesting - PDoz' complete 2003 V11built in July 2002 as a 2002. It gives some credence to the "August break" theory, although apparently just for the VIN not the configuration of the bike itself! FWIW, my 1990 Honda GB500 was built June, 1989. There certainly seems to be no industry standard.

Learn something here every day! You gotta state your build date now Docc! It says 3-2000, which is interesting because the SN is #1530 into the year 2000 build range. Looks like they were cranking them out in those days!

Where are you guys seeing the build date?

Thanks for posting the pic PDoz! Another question: what was the production date on the plaque? Docc, don't think it can have the internal fuel pump and the chin pad together? They are completely different tanks...but maybe? Never heard of anyone converting their old style tank to internal fuel pump (to mitigate the vapor lock issue...). But I am curious about the Veglias and the wheelbase/tire width too! Flaky matte engine paint I suspect? Although your bike looks perfect, and my paint has become dull too. Frames and wheel widths are the same 2002 on. True that chin pad tanks (external pump) are early through 2002 along with the white face Veglia. I was curious to see if PDoz' "late '02" still had any '02 features or really has complete 2003 kit including the satin (not fuzzy) engine paint.

Veglia gauges and chin pad tank?
