  1. In California they call those "custom upswept pipes." In Tennessee, we would call that a rain gauge . . .
  2. Intense! I don't think I've ever seen header wrap on forks before . . .
  3. You guys keep shaming me into replacing perfectly good (but ugly) parts on my Sport.
  4. After a hundred miles, no weep hole leak. The top of the motor is dry. I had never noticed that the distributor block off plate is right next to the opening for the crankcase breather allowing oil to flow out of the plate and through the bell housing. It appears that sealing this plate has stopped the bell housing leak! (That said, I also replaced the breather hose, the dipstick O-ring, and the O-ring on the timing sensor.)
  5. Typical gearbox leaks put gearoil on the exhaust collector, not clear back on the wheel. I can't tell from the picture it's not grease slinging off the shaft or the hub splines. Do you pull the rear wheel for look?
  6. On the rim like this?
  7. We're already all so trim and fit!
  8. So, I freshened the O-ring with a #112 from the kit at the auto parts store labeled "oil seals." The fit looks excellent (better than my last attempt). Looking forward to some miles. So much more now that spring begins next week!
  9. It's just that the South'n Bier and Grappa Raid could give the wrong impression. - and it's awkward to type. Seriously, it is best to bring "an appreciation" of the Guzzi spine frame; and a deep and abiding tolerance for those souls engaged in those bikes' nuances and needs. Do not be dismayed by late night sessions fashioning exhaust crossover shims out of Dos Equis bottle caps. Jus let 'em boys run wit it! They can't hep themselves. There is plenty of room for trailer parking. What with SRL's experience last year, count on others of us to help you off-load your fine Guzzi. Gravity is not necessarily our friend!
  10. Not sure which part you're looking for. The saddle itself, or the small bum stop pad that attaches to the pillion cover?
  11. As in, you thumb the starter button and there is no sound whatsoever? When you turn on the ignition and the run switch do you hear the fuel pump prime?
  12. Looks like it. Not that anyone has made reservations as far I know. Hope to see you then!
  13. There is an excellent discussion of exhaust dynamics in Keven Cameron's book, Sportbike Performance Handbook. The idea that exhaust pulses from the "crossover" and then from the canister will affect cylinder filing and, therefor, "flat spots" is heady stuff, but worth considering with any exhaust changes. The placement (length) of the junctions and volume of the silencer(s) will do more to influence performance than whether there are simply one or two canisters.
  14. Still watching for dribbles and drips all about the Sport. After a really thorough degreasing and addressing several other (wet) concerns, it appears the sensor is drizzling a bit. Ugh. I must admit that I sourced the O-ring (16,000 miles ago) from the plumbing department at Ace Hardware. Would an automotive O-ring be a different composition, or am I just in for a replacement every 25.000 km?
  15. If anyone is going to shelve their heavy Brembo, I'd be interested in it. I have a collection of old, heavy, well worn Guzzi parts. Most people would immediately recognize them as my Sport . . .
  16. +1. Rossi, is your cooler fitted with the protective screen? (Seems they did away with it after a while).
  17. Looks like both the EBC and the Brembo weigh 3 pounds. Maybe there is a big difference in cost?
  18. Very easy to see the difference in the alternator cover: 2012, 2013, "early" 2014 V7 2014 wet alternator Apparently, an early translation from Latin yielded the word "flywheel" prompting the confusion that there would be a wet clutch. A more careful translation from Italian clarified the change: (lifted this post from Mike H on MGCGB) Bing translate: "a new flywheel in oil bath replaces the previous alternator to dry, slightly modifying the front of the V-twin di 90°" Google translate: "a new motor in oil bath replaces the previous alternator dry, slightly modifying the front of the V-twin 90°" Success! Google translate from ITALIAN not LATIN ..... "a new rotor in oil bath replaces the previous alternator dry, slightly modifying the front of the V-twin 90 °"

    Rear drive seals

Hi, Dennis! Good to see you around! There is this recent thread by Bjorn who started on the outboard needle bearing and went on to document an entire restoration of the swingarm and reardrive (excellent): Rear drive needle bearing and swing arm restoration I remember the P.Roper thread with his faithful assistant, Colin the Happy Chicken. I watched Andy York, The Seal Whisperer, work his magic on my rear drive, but don't recall a specific thread with the details.

    Foot pegs

I really like the V11 footpegs. From a design point of view they are very sleek and sexy like something from Prada. Their position has only bothered me rarely on very long days (400-500 miles/ 650-800 km), and I don't do that anymore. The knurled pieces are very technical and modern. The price is surprisingly reasonable. Unless the shipping is $80.

Be aware the fronts and rears are different - you certainly can't use rears on the front. I don't know if you can use fronts on the passenger brackets.
  22. Especially a very good hammer! With what looks like, in your pictures, tools of Gedore-Vanadium!

    Foot pegs

Darn good post here by Mike Stewart in 2005 with pics even!

    Foot pegs

It was my recollection that others have fitted Monster pegs to the V11 as the stock Ducati units have a comfy rubber surface. I don't recall any modifications. But, of course, that's all recollection and recall and worth precisely what you just paid for it!
