  1. Fascinating!! How about some pictures of this bike, Francis? This is the first I have heard of replacing the needle bearing at the bevel box. Is it a simple fitted cylinder, or did you groove it for lubrication or anything?
  2. I thought it was basically the same thing - just a different sized glass
  3. HA -"Angry Scotch Ale" - that's redundant somehow. A closer look at the Dangerous Standalone Pub reveals an entire top shelf of single malts. I suppose they'll be safe since they're on the other side and on the bottom of the world. motowfo's top shelf is not so lucky as it is within striking distance and brakes must be bled, scotch must be snarfed.
  4. Soon to be known as the South'n Menagerie Raid.
  5. While the contact patches on the flywheel teeth are evident on luhbo's pictures, they don't show the marked wear evident on Ganzo's flywheel. With my Sport making the most racket idling in neutral with no clutch, it makes me think that is when the teeth are banging together the most. Of course, there is also 86,000 miles of aggressive shifting up and down. I was planning on a tear down at 100,000 to "do" the heads and such, but may come sooner if the clutch starts to affect shifting quality.
  6. Looking again at the wear on the flywheel teeth, it appears most on the "left." Does the motor spin counter clockwise from the perspective of sitting on the bike? With the bike in neutral, clutch released, would not the inertia of the clutch parts (all as one) and some portion of the gearbox combine to oscillate between the teeth of the driven flywheel?
  7. It used to read "Maintenance Checklist / While the Rear Wheel is Off." Somehow, the secondary title disappeared. Per your good suggestion it now reads: Wheels Off Maintenance Checklist
  8. Maintenance Checklist in the Frequently Asked Questions sub-forum.
  9. Be sure to select "Swedish" to get the proper effect. I think it should come with a video, but then we'll have to move the whole thread to the "Silly Banter" subforum with the proper disclaimers. I'm really having a great time learning some proper lilt for terms like: LaFranconi, Marzocchi, Stucchi, Bitubo, Marchesini, Sachs-Boge, Veglia, Centauro, and in the process learned that both FIAMM and Stebel horns are Italian. I found that ZF (Zahnradfabrik/Friedrichshafen) bought Sachs, but a year or so too late to have any influence on my (not-so-good) Sachs-Boge rear shock on the 2000 Sport.
  10. A photo of the answer appears to be in Ganzo's thread: V11 Clutch Splines Worn Appears a flywheel may be in my future . . .
  11. Why does the Swedish woman sound half dressed and out of breath when she pronounces "öhlins?"
  12. I'd love to see the Coppa along. It is a Spine Frame, after all! Yet, andy figured if you rode the Eldo, he'd bring his drop-dead-georgeous red V7 Sport. I do like having the all Spine Frames there so folks can compare, contrast and learn as much as possible while we have them all together. It is really amazing how many variations span those years! And (unless you have one in your garage) just how many Coppa Italia are we likely to ever see? Or a Lemans with over 100,000 miles? That said, I'm good with whatever/whomever shows. It promises to be a bit of a circus act no matter what!
  13. I wonder this as well?
  14. I remember that now. As in, "Duh, it is the thread title."
  15. Oi - how about one more than a couple hundred pixels? Aging eyes and all that . . .
  16. Just close enough to start watching weather . . . one can hope that Tropical Storm Fernand will work in our favor by sucking in a big high pressure dome and washing off all the roads. Otherwise, we know that when it rains, it dries . . .
  17. I remember learning to speak German in Bavaria. Then finding out some did not consider it, actually, "German." The Italian dialect my wife's family speaks turns out not to be "proper "Florentine." see ya'll, dang-it.
  18. What, no photo to post?
  19. So (thanks, again, Hubert!), I've had a jolly time listening to the translations. Not just Italian (OMG - THAT is how you pronounce "Abarth??!), but also some Portugese ("Estoril" - the blau color of my ///M roadster). I got pretty excited to listen to some of the places on the Isle of Man TT circuit since I'm pretty sure I haven't a clue how to pronounce "Creg-ny-Baa" or "Ballaugh Bridge." But there is no "Manx" in the language selection. Google Translate appears entirely stumped by Gælic.
  20. Link with the link linked: http://www.airtech-streamlining.com/index.html Although, I don't think the little wife would let me take delivery of the full Yamaha YZF conversion. What with the heels and all.
  21. True that the Japanese manuals are much more detailed often with detailed diagrams in each section with torque references. Also that the Japanese likely don't drink as much wine as the Italians. Especially between, say, lunch and the end of the work day. I'm not sure if there is a correlation there . . .
  22. Why can't the lights stay in the center and the new SpeedHut clocks go in the buckets?
  23. Kiwi Roy gives us the best of the best electrical!
  24. An alternative would be to have your seat reshaped to fit you better overall. Certainly a more involved option than the custom "bail' but might give you a better sense of control with the bike at a stop. Mom used to say, "It's no disgrace to be short, but it's mighty unhandy."
  25. I've seen people replace the bail ("side stand lever") with one of their own making bent from flat aluminum plate. You could extend it and shape it anyway you pleased, even angling it back a bit. Every time I ride with Josh on his Sport 1100, I marvel that he operates his side stand by hand!
