  1. I dunno - that Ten-Fidy (10 1/2 %) made for a pretty interesting session over at Motowfo's Rancho Loco. at least until the single malt came out . . . Apparently, the brakes of an MGA cannot be properly bled without the correct fluids: brake fluid, stout, and single malt.
  2. Interesting. In the States, we're really coming onto our own on local breweries. Finally! Andy, what do you mean by a "session ale?"
  3. Anything emry shows you will be top shelf!
  4. Never tuned a V11 over the phone before - that was fun! Sounded like a P51 Mustang in the background! (Ferracci pipes will do that for a v11 don't ya know!) Looking forward to the Thrill Ride tomorrow (weather permitting). It's all "fine tuning" from here, Leon!
  5. Now, I said i have no window, but there is the forward window to access the pinch bolts. My zerk faces rearward, so I can't see a way to get to it through this window unless it were huge. (Huge might be ok . . .)
  6. You sure that post was on just one beer? (I'll give you a call, buddy . . .) AHA! See! I knew there was more than one beer at play here: yours and mine . . .
  7. Ain't that sweet? Makes look ever more to the upcoming South'n Spine Raid. Sure, that's not Spa, but the beauty of a few Guzzis on a curvy road is not to be denied! :race:
  8. Not so much a surprise. My Guzzi dealer basically said if it starts, runs, and shuts off they weren't messing with it. A patient owner with simple tools, a basic procedure, and a little time can work wonders with a V11.
  9. What Hubert said ^ (complete tune-up). Re-check valve adjustment first (use at least "world spec" if not the looser "Raceco specs" for your edgier set-up).
  10. No window of any sort on my 2000 Sport. All access is from the rear with the wheel off. I know I got the grease gun n it once for sure since the coupling wouldn't come off. :angry2: Since that, I learned the grease gun can be rotated counter clock-wise (unscrewed) to release the fitting, but still moved on to the needle. Andy's window is the way to go, fr sure. Pictures of that, Andy?

    Ya,,I'll take it!

Anybody know where I can get her to start up my V11 Sport? While filming? On a French backstreet . . . (I'd skip the filming and go on the photographic memory . . .) OK, I'll even skip the French backstreet . . .
  12. I had to cut the point off the needle and de-burr it, but finally got some confidence that a little lube made it in.
  13. Hubert always has a good reason for what he says. He just doesn't always say the reason . . .
  14. So, what did you decide?
  15. We knew we could rope you back in with the beer thread!
  16. That sounds like excellent grease for the application. The real trick is make sure some makes its way into that front U-joint! And it comes with a little "Red & Tacky?" Huh - I used to date this girl in college that . . . oh . . . - better not go there . . .
  17. Heh - a guy can't get away with much around this crowd!
  18. When my Sport threw this fit, it was a broken yellow wire leaving the bottom of the stator under the alternator cover. It's hard to see, even with the cover off. Tail end the thread here: no charge
  19. The relays, and their connections are certainly the most likely culprit while the ignition switch and run switch also deserve mention. While we always want a problem to be one thing, it may be a combination of ills compounding. The clutch bullet connectors are always worth fettling, but won't stall a motor or cause hard starting starting. The starter simply will not engage (crank) if those connectors or the clutch switch fail. This is the fault that turning the steering from lock to lock while pressing the start button may suddenly cause the starter to engage. Looking forward to hearing how it sorts out!
  20. Ah! look what the (nose) wind blew in! Good to see you about, David! The Stelvio is a bit too ponderous for my tastes. More and more, I think Guzzi have nailed the market with the V7 series - light, affordable, and a fine fit & finish. Makes me want one!
  21. What GuzziMoto said ^ The previous owner must have screwed the pooch on this one. Time to start over with correct springs for your weight (with gear). When Traxxion Dynamics delivered mine, the preload spacers were perfect.
  22. Text on Tailpiece in fileshare?
  23. The black forks and drive line would certainly peg it as a Rosso Mandello for 2001. So would a single pate clutch. Someone once had the rationale down for clutch rattle: seems like the twin plate rattles with the clutch engaged (lever out) and the single rattles with it disengaged (lever pulled in). Otherwise, I'm not sure you can actually see that to tell the difference.
