  1. That's brilliant. Even with the standard "fast idle" setting, I could have laid my cold, wet throttle hand on the cam cover for a bit back in that last frozen hand ride. Strange things affect you when your left hand is happy but your right hand is not . . .
  2. The bikes are pretty much the same, but the guys who ride the Sports are all handsome and well spoken. No, really, the '02 stuff had issues and the '03 should be the better bike whether Sport or LM. You can tell by the engine paint if the '03 was just a hold-over '02 if the paint is fuzzy, bubbly, or flaky. It should be smooth and tight. Also, does the '03 Sport have handlebars (not clip-ons)? Nice riding position. Some of the '02 bikes had the engine/drive-line paint "repaired" which means it's been taken all apart. I'd vote '03. Of course, then you'll have a Sport and join the Handsome/Well-spoken Set.
  3. You just gotta love a guy that can say "@#!#$# OFF!!!" and "Cheers" in the same post. Kind of sums it up!
  4. Aside from a little blip in the availability of finance, I don't see any candy lovers giving up their desires. The trouble with the true poseurs is that they will always have to be moving on to something new. Perhaps it is good that Moto Guzzi has never become a real Boutique Brand. Although, I probably should get a flashy new jacket and a fresh hair-look. In the long run, the ethos of what is motorcycling springs ever eternal for those with it deep in the veins. Fashionable, or no, we will ride, rub, wrench, and refit. (them four Rs)

    Rosso Corsa rescue

That's fabulous! I love the high, tucked pipes.
  6. You can keep your flywheel with all of these options? I guess I had the impression it was one of the most suspect parts in the equation.
  7. Valve adjustment , spark plugs, and a throttle body balance will make her feel like your best girl with a new diamond bracelet and a night on the town. But for under fifteen bucks!
  8. I wonder how important it may be to "dry" the tank out allowing it to recover its original shape before application . . . Let's hope this is a good solution. These tanks ain't gettin' any younger.

Neat, Dave! I like it. A "Blue Frame" Sport!
  10. One of my favorite remarks about the Sport was from a fellow who got back out of his family's car at a coffee shop (sorry, but no tea houses on this side ) saying, "Is that Italian? That's a work of art!" Another, outside a Harley dealer (I think I was there to get a TPS), a lady going in asked, "What's that?" In my best Italian, I answered, "Eetsa Mot'-a Guzz'-a " The Asian-looking sales lady kinda repeated it mockingly, but I know it gave a little tingle.

    Rosso Corsa rescue

A Rosso Corsa pulled behind a Rosso MINI! What a sight! I suppose a brake lever and a brake line might be had from some of the usual suspects like MI, MPH, Harper's. Otherwise, Joe Kenny makes some nice stuff and that lever as well. CycleBrakes(aka Galfer) will make up lines for your application (as do others). Keep us posted on the progress!
  12. No "new" Stelvio at Barber's. The Guzzi reps there said maybe 2013 But, hey, EICMA is next month! Looking forward to the news. And hoping the Italians can afford to hire models to pose with the bikes again this year!
  13. Looks interesting, but my browser doesn't seem to be able to make that link . . .
  14. I just rode a pretty aggressive sport-tour with an 8V Stelvio that got like 41-43 USmpg (into N. AR not far from Springdale!). Even if the "claimed" 8.4 is like my Sport's "claimed" 5.8 (5.1 actual), the new Stelvio should go 288 miles at 39 mpg. Works for me - 288 is a magical number . . .
  15. Shouldn't that photo be posted over on the Hooters thread?
  16. In October 2008 I got my replacement TPS from Harley-Davidson PN 27271-95 US$44.63 Plug (set) and play!
  17. Moved to Newer Models Forum for better traffic and (hopefully) a quicker response!
  18. Moved here from Tech Topics for your viewing pleasure . . .
  19. Hi, mirage_al! My notes from 2008 from the invoice from MotoInternational in Seattle, WA USA, show: M/C KIT, 12mm RECT/REMOTE - Item Number: TA 110436292 , US$32 Not sure if that is a Guzzi #, an MI #, or even a Brembo # (BTW, go to your profile and show a location, even if it is just a country. It'll help members better guide you to resources! And, again, welcome!)
  20. And, so . . . now what? Does anyone have one of these jewels? I'm hoping Moto Guzzi NA brings them to Barber's Oct 2011. I fear I may be smitten!
  21. Perhaps Teo Lamers in the Netherlands or HMB-Guzzi in Germany. I hate to think these are no longer in production as fragile as they are. Yet, maybe then some resourceful Guzzisto will make the better mouse trap!
  22. Even if as a museum, cafe, boutique, and, for us pilgrims, a brothel, er-uhm, I mean hostel.

    Mistral rebuild

I remember hearing from one the manufacturers (Two Brothers, not Mistral) that a big V-twin will need repacking once a year since closed throttle engine braking was destructive to the packing. That was their explanation. That said, I haven't heard anyone here repacking their canisters. Not that they don't need it, but somebody's gotta take those loud pipes out and save lives . . . Seriously, though, did you check directly with Mistral to see if they have a kit or their own recommendations?
  24. So, we're about ten days out and several have put in a bid on leaving from Middle Tennessee. Hope to see you all at breakfast, or at the event at Barber's Vintage Festival. With 2500 miles on the newly sealed rear drive, I'd say I'm good to go. Can't wait to see all the Guzzis at the Motorcycle Classics tent! Ride well! docc in Tennessee, USA
  25. Sure, that could work, but adjusting the angle of support is still better with the floor jack. And the support under the sump is broader. I'd like to find the highest and best use for the nice little red spindle. It's even too unstable to prop an ale.
