Rotational lock up and shift lock up are distinctly different. This wheel lock up sounds like what Guzzi warned of requiring changing the shift dogs and such in the early recall. Assuming it is the gearbox, and not the bevel drive or the shaft, I wonder if the serial number is in the recall range (I don't remember it extending into 2002)?

At this rate, it looks like I'll be needing stiffer springs every three or four years . . .

I've laid in the course in Garmin MapSource from The Lodge to Mike's (Tellico Motorcycle Outfitters) which shows 230 miles. We may end up with a little detour around Otter Creek Rd. Except for certain Gravel Demon Riders who will ford the Little Tennessee River at flood stage on their EVs. Two up. And still be back to the hotel before the rest of us . . . Anyone interested, PM me and I will email the Garmin route to you so you can know immediately when we've missed a turn.

Sounds like a great way into spring! Once you get your sags and springs set up, the side stand (wot's left) won't touch down much. Seems you've changed up your avatar to show us those dazzling new exhaust cans. Nice, but the dazzle rather does not compare to your prior photo!

Hi, Franco! I think you'll find your fuel filter is nothing "special," but has simple clamps on slip on fuel line. I use the WIX 33310 which is for the Isuzu Trooper, is fully welded and typically made in Israel. It is just slightly shorter than the original Weber and might benefit from a longer inlet line. There is this FAQ on the oil filter alternatives as well as some concerns, and solutions, for their wobbling off while running.

I replaced my TPS in November, 2008, with HD part # 27271-95 for about 45 USD.

It is true the last two relays trigger the fuel pump, but they get their power from the Run Switch. The Run Switch gets power from the middle relay (or the side stand switch). The middle relay is activated by the neutral switch (but it is called the sidestand relay). It gets even more complicated when we look at how the headlight relay and the starter relay are related. I'm glad Orangeokie is back with his simple "Know The Rules" (and the animated signature!) "Knowing The Rules" will solve 91.23 % of these problems. The other 8.77 % keeps us together!

Aw, man, now someone here (like : gstallons) is gonna tell us what all those numbers mean. I read the right off the invoice and the left off the box. So what does it all mean? And do you you really want to pound out some otherwise still good bearings?? "Ain't broke . . .":oldgit:

Does it do the same thing in neutral with the side stand down? In other words, does it do the same thing seated on the bike with the side stand UP?

Front, right - 6304EEJ30 Front, left - -6205EEC3(J30) Yes, the bearings are different side to side. My originals were French and the replacements "Made in Turkey." I'm not sure that's particularly satisfying, although I do own a very nicely made Turkish double barrel if it's any indication.

I looked much, much more closely and found the stamping on my 2000 Sport front rotors: " MIN. TH. 3.6MM " I still can find no stamping on the 1100 Sport take-offs that are on the bike now. Surely, it must be there somewhere . . .

Thanks, Greg, for the post. Sad to hear. It was back in aught-four, TXR sent me a manual petcock saying, "Hey, you might need this." Perhaps unlike his "online" persona, the guy was sensitive, caring, and intelligent. I am sorry for the loss. I'll call Walt today at The Lodge at Tellico and get a room for Josh and I. We'll probably go for the "basic" since we spend most of the time out in the parking lot threatening parked motorcycles with musty tool rolls. Walt said there was a 5% discount if we end up with several rooms, so mention the Moto Guzzi V11LeMans South'n Spine Raid and we'll pool our 2.63 Euro and send it to Jaap so he can come next year . . . My worn front rotors were 0.138" (3.5mm) after 45, 608 miles and the replacements (take-offs from an 1100 Sport) are 0.153" (3.9mm) after 24,373 miles. Jeez, I need brakes again?

Searching didn't do me much good, so I took SH's advice and found this thread in How To: greasing the front uj I'm not sure why the search couldn't find it otherwise. Apparently there is not a topic on this in FAQ.

I looked for the stamping on my old rotors, but didn't find any. The 3.9mm figure is from the shop manual. The full thickness is apparently only 4.1mm!

Try a search in Nuts and Bolts for "Front U-joint." There a couple extensive threads on solutions for the access to the front U-joint. It's a little bugger no matter what.

The wear limit on the rotors is 3.9mm. I'm thinking you've already "pushed it."
