Same number on my original Valeo.

My, my. All this time and we are still learning about these V11 . . . So, it is not just the 2001 black/short frame Rosso Mandello that is without the mounting tab on the frame, but perhaps some/all of the 2001 Red Frames.

An open source compilation of Spine Frame terminology . . . > Spine Frame : the series of big-block Moto Guzzi with the rectangular box-section frame member connecting the forks to the swingarm support plates. (Daytona, SPOrT 1100, 1100Sport-i, Centauro, V11 Sport/LeMans models 1999-2005/ all). Compare to "Loop Frame " and "Tonti Frame ." (Forget about all the other frames since) . . . > SpineRaid : A gathering of Spine Frame bikes/ riders/ aficionado for the purposes of comparison, note taking, sharing, and mutual enlightenment. > Spinus Interuptus : Interrupting some-other-kind of gathering with your Spine Frame . Don't fall for their relays. Or the free candy. > Spinendipity : Out for a ride on your Spine Frame and you happen upon another. Pure four-leaf-clover unicornism! > Spinurbating : Having a delightful ride out on your Spine Frame alone, finding the experience ecstatic, yet embarrassingly difficult to mention in pubic. > Spinelighting : "I wasn't out on the Spine Frame , dear. You must have left the refrigerator door open." > Spinadeniability : "No, no, I wasn't out riding my Spine Frame . . . eh, the hillside avalanched; road flooded; there were elephants. No really, it wasn't that I wandered off on my Spine Frame and lost track of time, reveling in the joy of riding, and got to work/home late." * nope *

Before this, we thought all the Red Frame (1999-2001) had the bracket/mounting tab and only the black Rosso Mandello short frame (and all of the Long Frames) did not. It seems the bracket/mounting tab was eliminated sometime for the 2001 RedFrames, as well. What do other 2001 Red Frame Sport owners have under there? Some tabs and some none?
-
So, everything (except the serial number) is the same on those tags. I don't see a build date, at all. Apparently, the bottom line declares 89 decibels at 3900 rpm. Assuming the frame bracing plate came from the factory on the 1999 Sport, they were left off fairly early. My March 2000 was delivered with no plate. Just to clarify, @Tomchri, even though your 2001 does not have the bracing plate in place, does it have the frame mounting tab on the bottom of the spine? The mounting point at which a plate could be added? (The mounting tab to the right on the red frame that is shown upside down):
-
Interesting. The US bikes have a different tag showing the build date as month-year (mine shows 3-2000). Does this tag mean built the 39th week of year 2000? So, October 2000 as a 2001 model?

@Skip - Really awesome, your coming all that way. Added a whole dimension to the KSR. I wish I had taken some pictures of your California. That custom fairing you made for it is impressive. Top tier styling and workmanship!
-
May we all get to take our own shortcuts from Nayook to Noojee! I tried that from Dowelltown to DaleRidge on the way to this KSR and rode the worst "road" in my riding career. It was some combination of a Trials Course and a bombed-out battlefield. I ran off the "road" (just) once and only noticed as the surface improved up the local's driveway!

You guys are too kind. My efforts would be nothing without this worldwide community. Look at the continuity we have here. A web-based forum over twenty years old? With contributors dating that far back. Seriously, that is pretty much unheard of on the web, or even with specialty "clubs." @Admin Jaap has given us such a great, and consistent, arena here all this time. All y'all just rock!
-
Wow. What is the month/year build date on the headstock tag?
-
What "2001" model V11 is this @Tomchri? Does it have the black Long Frame with the lower tube bracing? (We know that what we call a 2002 in the USA, or even AUS/NZ, could be a 2001 in Europe.)
-
Regarding the air bypass screws, it occurred to me to say that if you have to set one side quite different than the other (like 3/4 and 1 1/4 turns out) to synchronize the throttle bodies at idle, take time to look for a vacuum leak.
-
True, that. Seems all of the cracked cases I have seen are silver and were discovered without apparent incident. My dealer told me that landing wheelies on a V11 ShortFrame could do that . . . I said, "It wasn't me!"
-
I know this post is redundant, but the later LongFrame lower/rear subframe "tube" brace is clearly visible on this Rosso Corsa and the image is just so compelling and begs to be shared!
-
Correct. There is only the underside mount tab on the RedFrames. Apparently, the 2001 Rosso Mandello ShortFrame (painted black) does not have the tab. IIRC, @Tinus89 added a tab to his Rosso Mandello frame the brace it. The later V11 tube-braced LongFrame, 2002-2005, does not have the underside tab for the plate, but probably* braces the engine-> swingarm across the gearbox adequately with the lower tube braces from the rear subframe (seen below, just above the exhaust). *Does anyone recall a cracked gearbox mounting boss on a LongFrame V11?

For sure, the Stucchi Luigi Moto Guzzi color-matched accessory flyscreen for the 1999-2001 Sport is fiberglass. None of the later, or Rosso Mandello, flyscreens were the same. The 2002-2005 full-size LeMans fairing is some kind of polymer ("plastic"), pretty sure ABS.
-
Pretty sure the fairing is ABS (I don't have one). Perhaps, it is polyamide ("Nylon") like the tank, but it is not fiberglass, IIRC. Each of these materials is repaired differently, but, yes, then the paint . . .

MySport yet exists, and thrives, solely because of this community and the magic that comes with SpineRaids .
-
My understanding is that a spare gearbox input hub can be used as a clutch alignment tool, in this case for a 5-speed transmission.

@Lucky Phil's outstanding (as usual) tutorial and outcome regarding the case crack issue:
-
What a great resource, especially for older Guzzis! There is one set of AMP SuperSeal cables shown. No assortment of seals, though . . .
