    I want a squarehead!

Check out this Quota on ebay. This guy sounds like he may have ridden a mile or two . . .
  2. Different cams. no? Lighter flywheel, yes?
  3. Maybe an appropriately placed mallet strike would pop its little ball out and the world would once again be spinning on greased grooves. That is, have you tried hitting the switch with the proper hammer?
  4. And the cockpit view:
  5. Clamped below the triple tree, the early clip-ons are already on about a 75mm riser. It must have been perceived as part of the vibration complaints as they were later shortened and mounted above the triple tree.
  6. I just mounted a Zumo to my 2000 Sport with the RAM mounts provided with the unit. I was rather surprised to get the thing set up without buying more hardware. I did mount it to the leaft clip-on ( If you live in the UK you might want to mount the left-handed GPS on the right ) The hardest part was pulling tha tank and airbox to route the power cable. I'll try to get a picture up . . .
  7. Jean-Marc's risers look very nice, but unfortunately won't work for the early Sports with the clip on mounts below the top tree. The Twisted Throttle pieces should be a bolt up, but I wonder how extended those already long risers may feed the vibration. Of course they might magically damp the vibes. They say the pieces have two rotation points, but I can't see that. Anyone?
  8. My understanding is that the barometric (atmospheric) air pressure sensor is in the ECU. The sensor mounted to the airbox is for temperature. I just had my airbox off to install a power cable for the Garmin Zumo and service all the connectors under the tank. Those side covers are such a pain the %$^ to get back on, I couldn't stop thinking about using pods instead.
  9. Yes, or the drain hose could be kinked somewhere along its path under the tank. Sometimes they get zip-tied too tight.
  10. Guzzi's ad for the Vintage claims dual-spark, but the picture looks just like the old V11 motor. What's up with that?

    mpg ?

The sensor is also voltage dependent. When I changed to the new battery the light comes on much sooner (0.4 USG sooner, or about 2 liters sooner).
  12. Ryland, thanks!
  13. Those coil mounts are visible from the front above the oil cooler and behind the subframe. There are three mounts. You can push on the coil bracket and see if it moves.

    misting

    1) Tachs in the UK seem to do this more. I dunno why 2) Clean and tighten the shift linkage; consider Redline Shockproof gearbox oil. 3)Agood tune up works miracles on these bikes. See the pinned thread on TPS above. That said, the vibes under 4500 have really started to bother my hands. More and more I'm riding at 5000 rpm; the bike seems happier and my hands are , too.
  15. Injection units "reset?" How so?
  16. It went out today and should be in NY before the week is out.

    Fork oil ?

Seems like the later 1100 Sport i had upside down forks, but yours have the male sliders on top, yes?

    Fork oil ?

Sounds like the springs would be comparable for a fellow of your weight with a V11. Comparable numbers for the Marzocchi on the V11 are 5 wt oil with 100mm air gap. I know your shock s White Power; what are the forks? You must give us a ride report!
  19. 53,909 miles. Nose2wind is always nosin' me out though . . .
  20. LA is not quite in the neighborhood unless you're talking "Lower Alabama." Wish I could pop by . . . I'm sure I got lost on this somewhere, but wasn't there some Yankee Scura in this deal?
  21. docc

    Fork oil ?

Josh, I thought your Sport already had different springs, no?
  22. Not that this would actually create a noise like that, but it is worth checking the shock's eye bolt to the swing arm to be sure it is complete (not a half eye) and not cracked.
  23. Here's the best we've got : TPS and throttle balance

    Guzzi parts

Soon to be vintage? Like most of the riders . . .
  25. Adjust the valves when "stone cold." Freshen your plugs up at the same time (the motor is lots easier to turn with them out). Use copper anti-seize on everything. Consider setting the TPS and balancing the throttle bodies for that complete freshly tuned effect.
