  1. I knew there was at least one other thing . . . Actually this is how we ended up with a pinned thread with as complete a procedure as possible. Many have gotten by with less (my dealer included), but the more complete the procedure, the more reliable the result.
  2. OK, I looked and still no ricambi (parts) for the 2000 Sport. Any where else?
  3. Another? Now we know what you've been doing while we've been adjusting valves and that kind of good stuff . . .
  4. Darn! I've seen this before: no 'recambi' for the 2000-2001 V11 Sport. What gives?
  5. Twisted Throttle has confirmed that the parts are fully machined (in Minnesota,USA). No pressed stud. The finish is anodized gun metal gray. I suppose I would try to paint them to get a better silver match for my Sport. I am concerned that the hydraulic cylinders will not clear well as the bar is raised. My Stucchi mount complicates things.

    My Le Mans is dead

I'd like to think we're a 'self-moderating' forum. Plus, I thought the segue into stockings was a relief. I do hope the forum is helpful to Foxy and I look forward to some continued feedback on the findings and results. More than one big motor has come back from stumble and swarf . . .
  7. Right. 150mV (+/-) bike off, key on, linkage off, fast idle mechanism defeated. 485 (to 525) mV running at a stable idle.* * How you atone for the stable idle is a question of semantics, technical procedure and theology. Oh, and imbibition.

Nylon stockings and Italian bikes has always seemed like a lovely duet . . .
  9. I keep studying these options: Jean-Marc's product Twisted Throttle risers MPH Verlicchi ConvertiBARs For one thing, how is the rise measured? I would like to compare my stock risers (shown above)to Jean-Marc's. Measured from the top-most margin of the fork mount to the top of the clip-on bar this is 65mm. Jean-Marc says his add 45 mm, but that is relative to the later (above the triple clamp) clip-ons. Can someone give a comparable measurement (top of the mount to top of the bar)?

    Hmmm,
  11. You're on the slippery slope now. Soon you'll be 'tweaking your map' and using synthetic oil. Now if we can get you to stop casting pistons in the sand . . .

    Heel Guards?

Seems like the stock LaFranconi had them. Could they be adapted?
  13. On the 2000 Sport: ( I don't know if the wires changed on the later harness; a quick check of Carl's wiring diagram will tell) (+) - black/violet (-) - violet The earlier Sports had the ECU connector exposed and was easier to get to. I've never "back probed" a later computer. Some have been able to get to the connections at the TPS. I found that to be difficult. It is very sensitive and will tend to migrate as you tighten it, so it takes a lot of fiddling to get right. Normally, a dedicated owner will mess with the thing much longer than a paid wrench to get it close to perfect. Oh, and it helps to replace the fasteners with conventional hex drives.
  14. Good question. I remember he moved to, was it . . .North Carolina? Good guy. Maybe we can get him to the South'n Spine Raid.
  15. John, a couple questions: 1)What is the current status of price/availability for the Comfort Controls? 2)Is the 'reach' to lever from the peg the same dimension as the stock set-up?
  16. The leaks make a clicking sound. They pop when they get worse. Many will spray a contact cleaner or solvent, even WD40, onto the boots and listen for a change. A few wraps of electrical (gaffer) tape will also seal the cracks for thousands of miles. I suppose if the aluminum manifold was loose at the head you could get the same thing. Also check to vacuum ports where the fuel evaporation cannisters are attached. Many of these may have been modified by plugging with a threaded fastener or a rubber nipples. The nipples can fail and cause a vacuum leak.
  17. Rubber throttle body manifold popped loose?

I certainly don't find these exchanges 'pointless.' Simply put, it will be good to see what comes of the tear-down, regardless of who does it, to see what pitched the slivers into the sump. No matter how you slice it, that ain't right.
  19. This has come up before. So, Parts-Fiche-Guys, did the cams really change, and when?
  20. Demo rides of?... Hot. . . Wings?
  21. Although I rode up the plateau and back this weekend (275 miles), the temperatures have now turned off much colder and it looks like we'll get winter in spite of it all. The time is then nigh to consider a ride in the late spring. The South'n Spine Raiders have begun to stir and the ride is just four months or so away. Again, this is not a rallye. Some folks with Guzzis (and a few other bikes) end up in the same place at the same time and some travel the same roads. No trophies, no vendors, no fee, no leader. Rolling anarchy. The motel that served as flypaper the last couple years has apparently folded after the neighboring Cracker Barrel moved. We'll check closer into the place in Vonore. The date is likely the last weekend of May or the first weekend on June. This should firm up in the next few weeks. I'll have to say this has been one of the most enjoyable groups of people I have ever shared a parking lot with.
  22. Centauro has a cable clutch (five speed).
  23. O'BND: What "OEM" components did you use? Cables? Hydraulic lines? How high can one go without swapping lines and such? (And do you have a photo of your set-up?) Thanks, docc-with-the-achy-hands
  24. With just 1-2" (25-50 mm), do any of the stock cables or lines have to be changed?
  25. The Verlicchi have the look of the originals. Certainly elegant. Has anyone actually fitted these to a V11 Sport? The Convertibars have the downward angle that (I think) I'm trying to get rid of.
