  1. "Hooters" - "Hangings" . . . my wife hits my browser history: same thing.
  2. If you store your V11 inside then roll it out to start it, give the sensors a couple minutes to adapt to ambient temperatures. The fast idle is a bit finicky to adjust but will boost the idle , say, 600-800 rpm. I find that gradually rolling the throttle while engaging the starter will fire the beast after 4-5 revolutions.
  3. It does help to spin a jam nut against the white adjuster knob to keep it from 'walking.' I use mercury sticks so the cylinders can be read simultaneously. Last time I synched at an even higher rpm (4000) . The side stand scored about a foot long stripe in the floor and the vibration tossed the volt meter on the floor. $50 tuneup The mercury always has a lttle water on top. I've even tried storing them next to a dehumidifier but still have the water. How would you guys read the water? I've chosen to ignore it as negligible since a water manometr requires such a large column and this is never more than 1/4".
  4. Maybe they would take my V11 Sport in trade. I'd probably still have to pay the shipping . . .
  5. I recall some needle bearings on the outboard side of the bevel box which would benefit from adding some grease while you have the access. Also, many have found their wheel bearings a bit dry. Some have carefully lifted the seals and added abit of grease to these as well.

    I must say...

That white/red/green V11 is the Coppa Italia. I'd love to see one of those in person. The bad news is there's no Guzzi dealer near . But the good news is the morning is to be 48 degrees F warming up to the 60s and into the 70s by Tuesday. Anything less than 60 degrees and the Guzzi sounds like a P51 Mustang. Something about the dense air makes the ECU think it's OK to dump fuel like we stole it from Rommel.
  7. Mayhaps a good degeasing of the starter bendix is worth a try? Others have posted on the internal magnets of the starter coming unglued. Worth a look I suppose as the starter is easy to pull.
  8. "foller me guys . . . this muss be th' way . . ." "Yeah, yeah. Ignore that guy who sez the arrows point the other direction . . ." ( Hey, it was scenic. Cardiac, but scenic.) The Peronni was great. And the Tecate and Negra Modelo weren't half bad either. I'm still trying to explain to my wife the young son's new-found talent at cracking the tops off beer bottles.
  9. I've revised this post and the sketch. My aim is to mount the Teknos lower and further forward to help handling in the Sport-Tour mode. The backing plate is designed to mount behind the frame brackets for the passengerpeg/muffler hanger and the lower mount to pin instead of the passenger peg which would be removed. As this is no CAD enabled approach, I am looking for a willing fabricator who can adapt the design to a Sport by fitting and finalizing. Jason, ya out there?
  10. Ye'r . . . i ran on sleep deprivation and neurotransmitter modifiers all through dr school an idt dint 'ffect me 'ffect me a bit. bit.
  11. After about 150 miles in 50 degree F riding I pulled us into a Mickey-D's against my usual restraint. The boy on the back of the Sport was a bit blue with the cold after all . . . I was pleasantly surprised with the fresh coffee and hot food. Clean potty and spacious tables for all our cold gear. The 'Golden Arches' has always represented a good place to pee, if nothing more.
  12. Members east of the mountains are apparently all quiet and reserved while those of us west are rather intense in our road manners. Avatars speak for themselves and , I wonder, if you should have moved further to the dark side. ( No Scura intended.) Look for the 'South'n Spine Raid' next early summer. So far , North Carolinians have avoided the event. Something about outstanding warrants, perhaps?
  13. Just back fromt he weekend in Birmingham (Alabama, USA) at the Barber Motorsports Park and museum. This Vintage event promises to be one of the greatest in world. The sounds of the old singles and twins attacking that beautiful track . . . unbelievable! Moto Guzzi seemed to be the featured marque. Everthing from Ambos in the off-road camping to V11 Lemans circling the perimeter road. One green Sport looks to have ridden in from Minnesota ( I thought I was cold riding from Tennessee) and hi again to Dan who rode his gorgeous Sport down from Cookeville. Aside from the racing and the spectators, the museum is stunning. Certainly lots of nice old Guzzis, a racing Daytona and a Ghezzi-Brian. On one of the walls stacked with new bikes is a Rosso Corsa. These guys have good taste. Thanks again to David and Josh meeting to ride in from Tennessee via a great meal at David's on Guntersville Lake. Watch for this event next year. It is well worth planning for.
  14. I'll try to get a scan up of the drawings. This is about as far from CAD as the Guzzi is from electronic warfare. I tried to mimick the style of the passenger peg hanger. Can't do it today as I'm packing the Sport for a ride down to Barber's for the Vintage Festival.
  15. Hmmm . . . they wouldn't be prone to bending chasing a well ridden LeMans with Gianellis across the Cherohala Parkway with a Daytona breathing fire alongside? Josh, I still hope to see you in Huntland tomorrow about 3:30 on the way to the Barber Vintage Festival. We all have noisy clutches and won't make any disparaging comments. You know , things like, "Is it supposed to sound like that?" or "I'd have that looked at if I were you." or "Let me ride ahead in case it grenades." No, really, I promise. We won't even make pensive faces . . .
  16. I cut mine off about half and use a washer next to the bracket. I used to take them off in the summer but have gotten too used to the handy space. I've drawn up a better looking mount to bring the bags forward and low as I rarely ride two-up. Now I'm stuck on materials and finding a fabricator with skill, time and no Porsche payment.
  17. josh, I know time is tight ,but try to slim by Corse Motorsports and let Andy or Alain listen to it before we go to the vintage event at Barber's Friday. Noise is one thing, but 'new' noise is always something to be concerned about . . .
  18. Looks like a good deal no matter what , but . . . What is Diablo "Supersport?" I've used Corsa, Strada and the undesignated Diablo (Normale?). I like the Corsa front and Strada rear combo. This deal . . . I wonder . . .?
  19. No, really, I thought photographic evidence should be forthcoming. Make it a 'link' to save the server and all . . .
  20. I'm just back from cracking the gunsafe to whup-up another dram ( highly mixed metaphors) of LAPHROAIG . Something about the vision after a dram or two may have affected my perception of the spelling. Some of the smoother Scotches like Highland Park from Orkney or 15 year old The MacAllan are just too easy for me to drink. I'd like to think the smokey-chokey Laphroaig slows me down a bit.
  21. Whether $8 or $20 a quart, the box takes 850ml and costs $3800US to replace. I say more, gooder, better oil, more often is good medicine! The bevel box is a separate and distinct mystery and the voodoo of moly/"synthetic" moly or *no* moly remains in the realm of altars and chants . . .
  22. Lagavulin is my all time favorite but has become largely unavailable here. Something about the Scots drinking it all up. (Could it be? ) Aberlour makes a variant called "A'banagh" which has fabulous body and color. Not to mention a higher proof. The peaty, smokey malts some how remind me of the smell of gear oil and that eye-watering intensity of a Guzzi twin running just too rich.
  23. And you're not sharing this with us? You know, part of the grieving process and all . . .
