  1. I'll try to get a scan up of the drawings. This is about as far from CAD as the Guzzi is from electronic warfare. I tried to mimick the style of the passenger peg hanger. Can't do it today as I'm packing the Sport for a ride down to Barber's for the Vintage Festival.
  2. Hmmm . . . they wouldn't be prone to bending chasing a well ridden LeMans with Gianellis across the Cherohala Parkway with a Daytona breathing fire alongside? Josh, I still hope to see you in Huntland tomorrow about 3:30 on the way to the Barber Vintage Festival. We all have noisy clutches and won't make any disparaging comments. You know , things like, "Is it supposed to sound like that?" or "I'd have that looked at if I were you." or "Let me ride ahead in case it grenades." No, really, I promise. We won't even make pensive faces . . .
  3. I cut mine off about half and use a washer next to the bracket. I used to take them off in the summer but have gotten too used to the handy space. I've drawn up a better looking mount to bring the bags forward and low as I rarely ride two-up. Now I'm stuck on materials and finding a fabricator with skill, time and no Porsche payment.
  4. josh, I know time is tight ,but try to slim by Corse Motorsports and let Andy or Alain listen to it before we go to the vintage event at Barber's Friday. Noise is one thing, but 'new' noise is always something to be concerned about . . .
  5. Looks like a good deal no matter what , but . . . What is Diablo "Supersport?" I've used Corsa, Strada and the undesignated Diablo (Normale?). I like the Corsa front and Strada rear combo. This deal . . . I wonder . . .?
  6. No, really, I thought photographic evidence should be forthcoming. Make it a 'link' to save the server and all . . .
  7. I'm just back from cracking the gunsafe to whup-up another dram ( highly mixed metaphors) of LAPHROAIG . Something about the vision after a dram or two may have affected my perception of the spelling. Some of the smoother Scotches like Highland Park from Orkney or 15 year old The MacAllan are just too easy for me to drink. I'd like to think the smokey-chokey Laphroaig slows me down a bit.
  8. Whether $8 or $20 a quart, the box takes 850ml and costs $3800US to replace. I say more, gooder, better oil, more often is good medicine! The bevel box is a separate and distinct mystery and the voodoo of moly/"synthetic" moly or *no* moly remains in the realm of altars and chants . . .
  9. Lagavulin is my all time favorite but has become largely unavailable here. Something about the Scots drinking it all up. (Could it be? ) Aberlour makes a variant called "A'banagh" which has fabulous body and color. Not to mention a higher proof. The peaty, smokey malts some how remind me of the smell of gear oil and that eye-watering intensity of a Guzzi twin running just too rich.
  10. And you're not sharing this with us? You know, part of the grieving process and all . . .
  11. If "All people in America are like those in Miami or NYC," then everyone in Europe is like you will find in Paris or Copenhagen. It just ain't so. Diversity yet persists. And kindness and gentleness are yet everywhere. Here is hoping that the sun shines upon the road before you and the door opens ahead before the air percusses behind. Per Jimmy Buffet, "I got de big suspicion 'bout ammunition - I never forget to duck!"
  12. I'll bet that's some darned good juice! Motul certainly has a good rep. What does a quart of that stuff cost? More importantly may be: 1) How often to change it, and, 2) How to determine the volume to add to the gearbox . . .
  13. Also time to pull the seat and loosen the fuse block and relay blocks to lift them up and search for chafed wiring. So hard to get the smoke back in the wires.
  14. Upon the advice of another rider I consulted a local audiolist who otherwise makes hearing aids. For $100 they fitted me for a set of plugs. I must say that this is the best $100 motorcycle accessory I've ever bought.
  15. The peaty malt for 'The Ride' didn't last and had to be supplemented by The MacAllen. The Sport was so trashed from riding in the mountains that a fifth of La Phroig and some Aberlour had to be applied to bring her back into her spectacularness.
  16. 1000 more very brisk sustained miles in the rain and the fuse looks perfect in its new nest. If your 30 amp regulator fuse is melting it is the connectors in the fuse block. Thanks again to all for their insights.

    It's WET

    " . . . jungle love . . . everything's better when wet . . . " Dense fog on the Blue Ridge Parkway at about 5000 feet elevation: intense riding!

    Rain Ride

My Aerostich is really quite good , but as a two piece it has a big ( 8") opening right over the belly. It takes about 45 minutes of steady downpour at high speeds to feel totally incontinent. I'm riding to the NCmountains this weekend and it looks like we'll be coming back into a cold front. I'mtaking the bib attachment for the pants hoping that this will make a difference. For gloves I have some excellent Gore-tex/Cordura gauntlets made by North Face for ski patrol. Then I learned not to wear them over the sleeeves as water is poured into the glove. Ridng with your little fingers in a pool of water does strange things to your hypothalamus.
  19. The slosh maneuver requires a lean angle of about 75 degrees (waaay over). The regulator does then begin returning fuel to the right side. My theory is that less fuel is returned under full throttle; so, it's Tip-Slosh-WFO for 'reserve.'
  20. Right, I've had my dry a couple of times and measured the refill at 5.1 US gallons or 19.3 liters. This without sloshing the tank to get the fuel out of the right recess.
  21. Could the 'dirt gathering comparison' be more a function of the pods facing rearward and the airbox openings facing forward? It just seems that you'd get fewer bugs in your mouth with it open facing back.
  22. Rats. I was trying to narrow down how many different motoroils I shelve for five different vehicles. I thought I had it down to two. Maybe the Volvo T5 would be happy enough on dino 10-30. And, yeah , the Gb doesn't have the grunt to pull a greased string out of a cat's . . . but it's fun to ride in a prom date sort of way. More on topic, I tried to contact Motul ( very nice videos on the website) but my French is not so good. I've asked about the moly product's availabilty and how their sythese meets the Guzzi spec. We'll see . . .
  23. Just now packing up a little malt whisky for the upcoming ride to the mountains. I'd better get it packed up soon though as the stuff doesn't seem to last 'round here.
