  1. You have to be a bigot to believe in legal immigration?
  2. A Honda car dealer selling Guzzi? That must tick Honda corporate off. The guy must be a real enthusiast I can't imagine slogging a V11 up US19 from St. Pete to Crystal River in June or July.
  3. Again, I must say, we are in for a new venue next year. The Cracker Barrel is 'moving' and I believe it is good to have a restaurant ( breakfast, lunch and dinner) walking distance from the drinking, er, I mean, the, uh, place we park the bikes. I would also not miss the blue-light-and-siren infested 25 mile stretch of TN68. I still can't get my Aerostich clean from that last, er, circumstance.
  4. One of the other forum members just had a recall verification done (by MPH). This is worth the trouble to square away. No word lately on how Piaggio is taking care of dealers for this work. From St. Pete isn't there a dealer north of Clearwater somewhere?
  5. BMG, Do you have a link and part number for the damper? ( My 1.0 springs from Traxxion are here , with their excellent instruction pac and spacers; the Ohlins should be at Corse Motorsports tomorrow. )
  6. Carl's on to something. Sounds like the ground path is impaired and the system is routing groung through the headlamp. Also check and clean the ground strap to the gearcase.
  7. Naw, I went down in a tight uphill right hander from a combination of road conditions, hard tires and over reaction. I've had too many side stands on older bikes try to kill me, so I'm a believer in the idiot switch. I've also seen two Ducatis go down from side stand related tinkering ( defeating the sui-side stand). Nose2wind noticed my Sport only has one of the two springs on the stand. I've ordered the secondary from MI as I don't want to take any chances on an unwanted deployment.
  8. And the NOR-juh; lovely! Best of times!
  9. Most gracious and always smiling . . . she can bring Bill back anytime!
  10. Told you guys it was gonna rain . . .
  11. Reading this makes me think it's a bad idea to change to different kinds of pads through the life of the rotor.
  12. My 'cooking' Brembos on the 2000 Sport lasted 48,000 miles of relentless use. Should I expect to replace 'race spec' rotors more often?
  13. Three of the Raiders had not done the Gap and went while we wandered around the carnival at the Crossroads. I was surprised how soon they were back. Funny though, they didn't talk much about it.
  14. What a fun collection of pictures. I absolutely cannot believe you got a portrait of the guy we passed in his 6- series bimmer; then ended up seated next to him at lunch! I also have never known anyone to routinely photograph their food.
  15. Other down sides to the iron?
  16. Thanks, Greg. I'll be calling you this week as I've also discovered some other parts I need. Apparently, Luigi put my side stand on without the inner backup spring. I think I'd like to have the security in case the bigger main spring lets go. Talk to you soon, thanks again, docc
  17. Time for front rotors. They are 3.5 mm ( service limit 3.9mm) after 48,000, apparently hard, miles. The manual shows a change after serial number 313 xxx. Is that just the carrier design or did the rotor material itself change?
  18. Yes the lamp feed is dinky. Plus the current runs through the switch. And the main fuses do melt without blowing. Look at this thread.
  19. This is surely an (un)event to remember. Thanks to every one for bringing this together. Year one there were four Guzzis. Three of those lunatics have returned every year. Last year there were seven of us ( five Guzzis). This year thirteen with eleven Guzzis. Some of these folks had never ridden with other Guzzis or been able to compare notes on experiences. Invaluable! I learned several good lessons: * Motorcyclists are still some of the most interesting human beings on earth. * Guzzi people are particularly intelligent and witty. *V11lemans.com forum members are a peculiar lot. If they ask you a question: be advised: they've already done the search, read all the posts and know everything you do. You can't get away with anything with these folks. They are completely unbullsh**able. *I don't look in my mirrors enough. * By the time the cop passes eight bikes, and passes the lead bike on the right, they're pissed. Thanks particularly to Josh for casually and continually looking the bikes over. My Sport ran a lot better with the left plug screwed all the way in.
  20. My manual says , "screwed up."
  21. I guess the Centauro makes no dual-sport pretenses.
  22. True what jaap has said. The lower bevel drive tends to separate. easy to press back together in a vice. Top bevel drive is the same but less likely to separate.
  23. While the experts disagree , the current wisdom is to fill the fork until the is the proper air gap at the top. 100mm is a good starting point.
  24. 0700 breakfast. Sidestands up at 0830. Nose2wind is already in TN from Dallas and headed this way. We're going to go over his Sport to see if we can stabilize the idle. David (99d12) call my cell when you get here and lets hook up. 931-446-1237
