This is fascinating to me, living in the Tenni-Sea with not a Tenni in sight. How does a normal human being dredge up a thread like this from over two years ago? That's erskateen nanomillenia in cyberterms. I'm thinking long nights, no riding ( of any kind ), and maybe a fear of darkness.

This is so true ,yet, before I got my sag ( preloads) set up the increased steering damper settings definately affected the weave adversely. Now, with better tires, pressures, damping and preload the steering damper has much less adverse effect on weave.

Of course there just weren't very many Scura owners on here back in '03 when I posted that. "The darkness in the east is growing . . . "

belfast/G: You dredged this thread up from 2003? Ah, winter in the Isles. It's a rare 65 degrees F today. I'm taking the Sport for a fuel top-up as the busted leg is good enough to set on the footpeg and take along. Thanks agian to all the prolific posters who give the forum its personality. Interestingly, having been offline for all of 2004, many of the members have changed but the personality remains. We are a mature and gentlemanly lot, eh?

I complained of this with my 2000 Sport under warranty. The dealer said," Don't turn the the pump on and off briefly without running the bike. Don't run the motor briefly like just to listen to the pipes, The remaining pressure in the lines will give the leak." Guzzi then, under warranty, replaced the entire injection rack ( throttle bodies , injectors, TPS and linkage ). The motor had to be loosed from the frame to do this. What a project! The RH TB still dripped after( maybe not quite as bad). I give Guzzi credit for trying all they could do to make it right. Now I am careful not to * briefly * run the motor as this appears to increase the drip.

N't: Your adjustments may be softer than average. This should give you a nice compliant ride at your weight. I am 175# in gear and run settings at about 70-75% hard. Lighter oil does ease the harsh high speed compression damping which is, otherwise, not adjustable. More importantly will be your 'sag ' measures to set preload. There are many good threads in the 'search' on this. Setting preload is tedious ( rear shock is hard to get to and forks would require new spacers) but well worth it.

Who was it fitted the Napoleons to the original mirror mount? Left the bar weights untouched and tucked the mirrors in nicely ( barends stick out like steer horns). Very clean look. Also several of us have fitted the CRG barends. Your 'barend' search will turn up those threads as well. Including the post, "Objects in mirror are waaaay closer than you think!)

Felt froggy enough yesterday to back the Guzzi out( trying not to run over my broken leg) and give her a warm up. A couple slow turns and then just solenoid clicking. 45 minutes on the 1 amp charger and she boomed to life. Defused the headlamp and ran it at 3-4000 til the oil cooler hose showed a little warmth. It felt glorious to swing a (broken) leg over her and blast the 20 feet back into the garage!

Watching "Road Racers" this evening with my 11 year old. ( a documentary sponsered by the Irish Arts Council from the 70's showing Joey Dunlop's early days in Ulster.) Rather awkward to explain why uniformed men with L1A1s had to patrol the road course prior to the race . . . bombs and such. Something to the effect , "Well, the Irish and the Scottish didn't win their wars like the Americans, Honey. Now, run along and skin me down another brewsky before ya bonk yer cousin."

That recall is important for that model: in general, replacement of the sliding dogs and portions of the internal cush drive. I would think it pricey to takethat repair on without the warranty. But $4895? Wow! TX, you're overdue for another Sport. Work a trade for the Solex!

Sure can relate. 3 weeks of no riding and maybe two to go. Hoping to get one more 50 miler in on Dec 31 just to make 10000 miles for the year. Consider reading Peter Egan's compendiums of his column "Leanings" from Cycle World and "Side Glances" from Road and Track. Speed Channel is also good for rehab. Best of luck!

That sounds like '03-'04 Sport or Ballabio. More comfy than the early Sports. The '99-'01 Red Frame Sports are quicker handling ( also sexy, exotic and desirable ) but probably take more effort to get the suspension setup right. Do the Lemans if you're looking for a fairing. Expect 33-38 mpg. It's also probably fair to say the Guzzi requires some owner involvement. More involvement = a better Guzzi.

OK, I missed that one. Grease the mount bolt? Oil the heims? At the swing arm or the frame?

I would not still be riding my Sport without a good tool box and the kind assistance of these forum members. Yet, in the midst of my selling dealer giving up the responsibilty, he saw my gearbox warranty through as only a loyal fellow enthusiast could. I wish he were still in the game although he is 120 miles away. My thanks again to Ben Curlin of the former "Wilson's Outdoor" of Jackson, TN. After all, the strength of Guzzi is in its enthusiasts.
