  1. You tawkin' t'me? You mus be tawkin' t'me. I'm the only one hea' ( waitin' for a speedo). ['Taxi Driver" meets the Guzzi warantee] And then there's developing the dealer network: "This is a nice place ya got hea', but it looks, ya know, flammable . We can help. We're from Don Piagguzzi." Seriously, this could be good as in, what we have had has not been. Yet, I recall when Aprilia came in and took Laverda to NYC. It was never seen nor heard from again.
  2. I hear the Ducati Monster pegs also fit. Simpler yet, go to the athletic store and get some inexpensive insoles for your sneakers. You can get them with gel pads. "Spenko" makes some that are better than the "Dr. Shoals" stuff. What size do you wear? I have some black Alpinstar 'boots' that are styled like hi-tops. Like new and yours if they'll fit.
  3. Oh, let us hope!
  4. Bad connections are a good bet. Also cheap and worth hoping for. The terminal stacks on the battery are especially prone to loosening. Also, the leads from the alternator have two bullet connectors just behind the oil cooler that benefit from cleaning, dielectric grease and heat shrink.
  5. Is it both feet equal? If you lift your foot off the peg does the sensation change? Do you have to straighten the leg to get a change? Has it been doiing this all along or more lately?

  7. With the big stack of terminals on the battery , it's easy to let one slip when reattaching. May have lost a ground and obscured the loose terminal under the new battery. Worth checking the simple stuff first!

    Coppa Italia ???

David tells me he's working on a deal to get a garage with his Coppa. And you thought you got a nice accessory package? " I'll have the one with the pretty paint and the Coppa Garaga."

    Coppa Italia ???

Well, David? New Coppa in the garage? Or are you waiting for BelfastguzziClaus to stuff it down the chimney?
  10. The old airframe/powerplant mechanic who taught me some engine rebuild tricks had a sweet one for mating cases. (The air cooled Contis and Lycomings have a longitudinally split crankcase like the old Volkswagen.) After spreading a thin layer of sealant over a clean surface ( no paper gasket), lay a cotton thread all the way round to the outside of any mounting holes and overlap the ends a couple centimeters. Torque in steps in a star pattern.
  11. No, no, you could follow Carl and Al and move out of California.
  12. You could have registered it as a Scura. But then youm'd have to be looking over yourshoulder all the time.

    2 part question

I thought the motor alignment was descriptive of the cylinders. ( The Guzii is transverse.) But I've heard it the other way as well ( crankshaft). The experts disagree. Those helmet colors are of the Italian racer Giacomo Agostini, no?
  14. Here I thought the 2002 Scura, Tenni and the Rosso Mandello clutches were the same. Why do only the Scura flywheels seem to detonate? Darkness?
  15. Scurista are known to screttle their own Tampons. Greenies should be leerie of dropping the soap if the Dark ones are near.
  16. If the suspension can be compliant to inputs , the inputs upset the path of travel less. High damping rates allow air flow, road irregularities and handlebar inputs to limit the bikes ability to 'soak up' these inputs and contribute to the tendency to 'weave' at high speed (above 90 mph). So many V11 riders (especially the '00-'01 sports) have found 'soft' to be more compliant: more stable.
  17. Yes, the damper is for just these high amplitude (wobble) oscillations . Yet, it may worsen the low amplitude (weave) oscillations at high speed .
  18. Let's hope. Maybe if piaguzzi gets the formula right , it may justify a legitamate parts-service network. And, obviously, none will jetison their V11 for one of these. Let's hope the idea is to successfully attract some new blood. Some strange. Imagine out testing these similar looking ST's. After a ride on the sedate BMW, one good rip on the Gooz and anyone with a pulse for the brio of motoring will be hooked. ( and thanks to Orange-o for the insight into the popularity of world football. I just didn't get it til now. Pray for rain. )
  19. I've done this also. But , wouldn't the starter turn over yet the motor not run ? Even when the neutral switch is not engaged the starter should turn , and should run with the sidestand down.
  20. Seems th '02 petcock is manual ( and stiff as Edge says). The 'electric cock' went away with Aprilia. The last relay block is blank in manual applications. I had a tipover which dislodged a lot of swarf in the tank to gather up about the petcock intake screen causing the fuel to cut off before the light came on. Might want to remove the petcock and give the intake screen a good clean.
  21. The side stand switch will keep the bike from running in gear but not lock out the starter. No starter means #1) clutch switch or,#2) starter relay.
  22. Nah. Early Sports still have Red Frames . Even the black ones.
  23. Try opening the air bypass screws to 3/4 or one full turn. Idle medicine for us cheap bas*#@ds.
  24. On the early frame the increased damping contributes to the high speed weave. I keep it at zero until the front tire wear begins to give the wobbles , then increase the damper four clicks til I get a new tire.
