The thread is a 'non-gasket' technique, but I don't see why it wouldn't work with a gasket. Most wrenches i know would only smear one side of the gasket allowing deformation to seal the other side and provide for easy access if you ever have to go in there again. carl has this memorized better than anyone. And I don't know how similar the electrical and mounting are from Veglia to the later instruments, but . . . There is a ground wire that attaches to the (dubious) instrument mounting posts. The posts are notorious for loosening up. Have a look at this thread .

Amen to that! How about a group buy to motivate them? Taking the voltage measure should work. I do remember the manual has some resistance measure for the regulator. Mine was out of spec by only a little yet the reg was definately bad. (Can't get to my manual downstairs right now for the bum leg ) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ EDIT: No, it was the alternator that has impedence specs that make me suspect my output is not all it could be. I diagnosed the regulator because the battery would throw 12.7 but the voltage never got above 13v with the engine revved to 4k.

Be sure the terminal stacks on the battery are good and tight. Easy to get to!

The current flow to the run switch is though the sidestand switch. As you know, these are located out in the stream of road crud. Easiest check is to bypass it and see if all goes well. (There is hope in the little things.)

I haven't been up there in months. I believe they can still order parts. ( That may not mean much right now with Piagguzzi taking the show to NYC). We can only hope that circumstances will allow another , more stable, dealer to take on the line. With evrything that's happened, I don't see Duc-N'ville ever making the commitment.
