I cannot seem to find the applicable thread referring to my driveshaft fasteners, but here is the image of the "low head" socket head fasteners that came out of my 2000 Sport driveshaft (right) and the replacement Moto Guzzi part (left, from August 2018) with a "normal" socket head height and apparent "blue" thread locking compound (also seen in @audiomick's Stein-Dinse link, above) . . . Considering triple the cost of the Guzzi part, I believe I could apply my own thread locker . . .

  8. Because the split yoke spreads when not under load, consider clamping it lightly so that the bolts thread in cleanly without crossthreading. Inspect VERY CAREFULLY the threads in the driveshaft yoke(s), front and rear. I have had to "chase" those threads to clean them up, but CANNOT recommend this as my driveshaft yokes, later, failed. I can look further at my notes later today for alternate sources. Ace probably isn't the place. (More likely McMaster-Carr.) My recollection is to use the standard torque for an M8, but to tighten in steps, going back-and-forth between the two pinch bolts as tightening one will loosen the other.
  9. I hunted down this @Lucky Phil post regarding the Guzzi metal gasket stating it comes with a "pressure sensitive sealant." From this, I would conclude that no additional sealant is necessary or desirable . . .
  10. So, as pretty as the Moto Guzzi bolts are, cadmium plated, these nuts&washers (two days from McMaster-Carr) have a stunning black finish. That they look like powder coat is confirmed seeing they are Black Luster®, a Columbia Coatings powder coat product.
  11. Yep, I figure using my existing "spacer" and adding the expensive washer and nut to the Moto Guzzi cadmium bolt will set me back a whopping $10US including the shipping costs.

  13. On to the nut search. McMaster-Carr does not show a Grade 10.9 Nylon insert, cadmium plated, but shows these: "Black corrosion-resistant-coated steel nuts are more corrosion resistant in wet environments than zinc-plated steel nuts.   14. New bolt(s) arrived from Harpermoto today (4 weeks). Screw, 10mmx59mm 01357731 They are 10.9 hardness and all very nicely cadmium plated. I continue to suspect this is largely about corrosion protection at that vulnerable location. Very much like the potential shock eye breakage reported at the nearby shock pivot bolt that suffers from similar neglect and corrosion. @Curtis Harper has a few of these on hand. And I'll be sporting a few in the Tekno pannier as SpineRaid party favors . . .

  16. That 1/2" fuel line ought to slip right on and a good hose clamp take up that extra 0.028" . . . Back on the road and time for a "Decent Tune-up!"
  17. For textile restoration, like the V11 Tekno bags, I have found nothing better than professional grade SEM Color Coat flexible color coating. I use their aerosol Landau Black for the Tekno. I learned about this, and the 210 plastics restorer, from a member here that has used these products professionally. Before the 210 I have used Pledge, Plexus, and the Honda polish (also sold as "Original" cleaner/polish). The 210 has more of a restoration capability.   18. I bet the Shin Etsu will be perfect for that!
  19. Shin Etsu grease (has a Honda part #) for rubber. "Plastic" can mean a lot of different things, but generally I use "210" spray cleaner/polish for "shiny" plastics.
  20. The only difference with the V11 tach is the the matte black bezel. I know a guy with the black one on his LeMans and likes the non-glare better.

  22. Funny you should say that. (Telling, really.) Other than land speed and engine rpm, I would want to see just a couple other parameters I find pertinent while riding. The location and course to the nearest shopping or drive-thru fastfood? Er, NO! The ambient temperature and the motorcycle's electrical voltage, yes. The "time" in an analog display, please.
  23. My TIMEX on the Sport is from their INDIGLO® series and has the backlight function when the stem is pressed . Thirty bucks and enough variety to find a face and bezel to match most instruments. Don't laugh at the thirty bucks. That is more than four times what I paid for the last couple "clocks" on mySport. I actually looked at cheap watch racks for a long time before stumbling across somethng to match my GB instruments (grey face, Arabic numerals, chrome bezel) . . .
