Certainly a good move to upgrade to the highest quality High Current micro relays available. Not sure what is available in AUS, but here are the two best available most recently (I hope I get these links right the first time): CIT A11CSQ12VDC1.5R Picker Components PC782-1C-12S-R-X That anything would come on with the ignition switch off casts aspersions on the wiring soldered to the switch. It is not that hard to take out and inspect and is also a known fail point on the V11.

Just excellent, learning about "Cutting Crew ". You guys take me back . . . Leon Redbone opened for Tom Waits in the very intimate Tampa Theater, November 1978. Redbone was like part of the audience, but onstage performing. He kept stopping and taking "Polaroids" of the audience, then stopping again later to look at the photos saying something like, "Onnnh, yeeeah, huuuughh . . ." Waits came on like a ghost from a street corner we have all been on. Brilliant. Haunting. Waits.

Thanks to @audiomick for posting the Tank Off Maintenance Checklist. There is also this compendium of potential tasks to consider:

Not video, but here is the approach to the front U-joint Zerk from the front using an adjustable angle tip turned 90º (or less): Your only other alternative:

I used a laser for that purpose and found the swingarm within thousandths of being centered in the Frame Side Plates. I would, now, put hat offset down to method accuracy limitations. One South'n Spine Raid, we measured the offset of all the SpineFrames present (six or eight, I suppose) and found the settings all over the place. I settled on "centered" with the pins backed of just a touch from bottoming so as to not deflect the bearings laterally. YMMV

Notably absent from the array:

Rare (very rare) coincidence of time and weather today for a ride (mid-winter). Every time I ride to "Belfast" I think of @belfastguzzi.

There could be a distinction between "memory loss" and "too much to remember" . . .

@sp838 3D printed those, but I can't find them now and he hasn't visited in a while . . .

Pretty sure* the 120º twin racer was called Bicylindrica and the Gambalunga/Gambalunghino were horizontal single racers 1949-1951. Luciano Marabese was quoted saying, "I started to draw . . . the V11 from Gambalunghino . . ." Before knowing these design references, neither the V11 Sport nor the Centauro made sense to me.
-
Rather appropriate to OP's query, I must say . . .
-
Anyone with a V11 Sport has to able to say "Gambalunghino" . . .

The regulator is factory original. "Ducati Energia " is a different company than Ducati Mechanica that makes the motorcycles. The loose ring terminal is the factory ground for the regulator and goes under the missing mounting fastener for the regulator. Certainly run another, more robust, ground from the regulator case to the timing chest of the engine. The markings on the alternator show the direction to turn the crank to position at TDC for valve adjustment and the size of the socket to use on the crank nut (24 mm). Thanks for the running thread, @Steve Swan! Looking forward to watching and sharing in the progress!

Ha: docc, busted again! I was so determined to have the two images facing the same direction, and the bikes the same color, that I looked no closer at the details. You sharp-eyed guys are impressive.
-
Remember, Marabese Design (Rodolfo Frascoli) "drew" the Centauro from the Dondolino. The whole thing makes sense knowing this. Just as Luciano Marabese "drew" the V11 Sport from the Gambalunghino.

Let's ask the other inmates on the ward if we are really crazy to do these Guzzi things we do . . .

Your Durakool relays are the 5-pin, "R" version, with the resistor, integral, @V11_RM_RG?
