I wonder if "someone" can get Piaggio to declare what percentage/ number of the V11 in that Gearbox Recall they have recorded as performed . . .
-
Seriously, mySport has made me much more discomfortable than she looks . . .
-
I mean, "comfort" on a V11 Sport is all relative, right?
-
That (racy) silver Sport (by itself) looks really nice . . . https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/k8UAAOSwoLBjv4UQ/s-l1600.jpg

What are we looking at on the this LeMans?
-
Would that fit a V11? Or too many changes to expect simplicity?

Well, I still think we should loop out of The Lodge Saturday morning and take the bikes across the Cumberland River on the free ferry. Bring yer poles, but fish fast. The river is pretty narrow up there . . .
-
I really wasn't sure this whole fishing thing wasn't off topic from the start. But I forgot we are talking Kentucky. . .
-
Classic "fish story" . . .

I am curious . . . "Connected" riding it? Or even "connected" just being around it, talking about it? "Connected" working on it?

Correct, the steel flywheel of the twin plate clutch is a non-issue on all V11 models 1999-2005. It is the aluminum flywheel of the single plate clutches on the 2001 Rosso Mandello, and 2002 Scura and Tenni. The question remains unanswered if every one and all of these flywheels are suspect, or only a batch/production run of them. For instance, has a 2001 Rosso Mandello has ever suffered this failure? Or even a Tenni that we know of?

uhmm, well, yeah . . . right? [for the record: I have two bikes. One wife.]

Yep, and have a look at how that crankcase oil drain hose can push out on (crack/break) the starter cover. All of this has has to be finely groomed, much like a cello is tuned and intoned . . .

Besides the obvious premise of "let's ask the other inmates on the ward if we are really and actually crazy and just which, and how many, Moto Guzzi to buy" . . . . . . I resemble all of those remarks in that eloquent P.Roper post.

There! There on the distant horizon! Looks like the Nineteenth South'n SpineRaid coming into view . . . . . . Weekend after (US) Labor Day September 8-10, 2023 Tellico Plains, Tennessee > "Get there. Bring tools." < [ [ There is word, again this year, of other elements reserving rooms already for that weekend. So, heads-up, time to consider our plans and reach out, if you are so inclined] : https://www.lodgeattellico.com/page 8.htm

Great news! Give your battery terminals a DeOxit treatment and a snug-up. Make a habit of spritzing any and all connections as you go . . .

Np! In the meantime, I'll edit your topic title . . .

Let's let some folks reply (remember, we have members all around the world, so it often takes 24 hours for everyone to come around), then watch for this topic to move to the subforum "Older Models" . . .

Haha, well, we do obsess over little nuances and variations of the V11 series. Yet, Ballabio are all the same "spec," AFAIK. Whatever model V11 you end up with, use the tenth character of the VIN to determine what year Parts Catalog to order from. And what wiring configuration you have. And . . .

Welcome, @standingtree ! Lets' see what we can come up with. What year is the Le Mans?

A bit tricky to post existing Gallery images to a new post: "Right click" the thumbnail in the album and select "Copy Image Link" and the image will paste and display. Attempting this from the image, itself, is not an option.

Thanks, @VeeEleven! The KS designation remains a mystery . . .

Well, sir, you are in the right place to get to the bottom of all things V11 ! And you are correct that the potentially fragile [aluminium] flywheel, used only with the single plate clutch, is found only in the 2001 Rosso Mandello, and 2002 Scura and Tenni. All other V11 1999-2005 (let us know if you find a verified 2006!) have twin plate clutches over a steel (bombproof) flywheel. There is still no final consensus if the aluminum flywheel failures are only from a batch/production run, or whether the problem may not have affected 2001 models (Rosso Mandello). a work in progress! Looking forward to your introduction and hearing your V11 experiences. Welcome, @Icenian!

My impression has always been that the original V11 steel flywheel (twin plate clutch) was an OEM "lightened" version. Is the standard V11 flywheel actually lighter than previous 5 speeder flywheels?
