  1. Great news! Give your battery terminals a DeOxit treatment and a snug-up. Make a habit of spritzing any and all connections as you go . . .
  2. Np! In the meantime, I'll edit your topic title . . .
  3. Let's let some folks reply (remember, we have members all around the world, so it often takes 24 hours for everyone to come around), then watch for this topic to move to the subforum "Older Models" . . .
  4. Haha, well, we do obsess over little nuances and variations of the V11 series. Yet, Ballabio are all the same "spec," AFAIK. Whatever model V11 you end up with, use the tenth character of the VIN to determine what year Parts Catalog to order from. And what wiring configuration you have. And . . .
  5. Welcome, @standingtree ! Lets' see what we can come up with. What year is the Le Mans?
  6. A bit tricky to post existing Gallery images to a new post: "Right click" the thumbnail in the album and select "Copy Image Link" and the image will paste and display. Attempting this from the image, itself, is not an option.
  7. Thanks, @VeeEleven! The KS designation remains a mystery . . .
  8. Well, sir, you are in the right place to get to the bottom of all things V11 ! And you are correct that the potentially fragile [aluminium] flywheel, used only with the single plate clutch, is found only in the 2001 Rosso Mandello, and 2002 Scura and Tenni. All other V11 1999-2005 (let us know if you find a verified 2006!) have twin plate clutches over a steel (bombproof) flywheel. There is still no final consensus if the aluminum flywheel failures are only from a batch/production run, or whether the problem may not have affected 2001 models (Rosso Mandello). a work in progress! Looking forward to your introduction and hearing your V11 experiences. Welcome, @Icenian!
  9. My impression has always been that the original V11 steel flywheel (twin plate clutch) was an OEM "lightened" version. Is the standard V11 flywheel actually lighter than previous 5 speeder flywheels?
  10. Just pondering this "low inertia" clutch plate looks to have, maybe 1/3 the surface area of a single OEM clutch plate. And that my twin plate has two; making six times the mass/area (roughly) of this "low inertia" plate. Might they only last 1/6 as long?
  11. It just can get confusing talking between the OEM aluminum flywheel, the replacement (steel flywheel) RAM, and the "twin plate" OEM . . .
  12. This is the original V11 single plate/aluminum flywheel (RAM- made) assembly used in the V11 Rosso Mandello, Scura, and Tenni ?
  13. There are some solid threads here on this "Startus Interuptus " issue that affects V11 after 1999-2001. We'll get it sorted. This certainly sounds like the best advice for @audiomick . . .
  14. I tried clipping that to restore the links, but without success.
  15. I tried to fix that, but couldn't . . .
  16. Glad to see new member @Impala drop in to check on this offering.
  17. We are all so anticipating views of the actual flywheel connection to the crankshaft as well as whether that funky-looking inspection hole "flaw" can be identified (and where it actually is . . . )
  18. Good news! "Yes" and "yes" to your questions . . .
  19. The twin plate toothed crown wheel looks different. Seems when I unbolted mine the clutch internals/springs came out easily. Seems the single plate is different in this regard?
  20. Not for the timing, but the balance, I reckon: White marks: Crankshaft scribed plus white mark:
  21. The redish colour is not so much of a concern as the odd wrinkle/gap in the Crown. This oddity will soon be revealed . . .
  22. Getting closer and closer to getting eyes on the actual flywheel . . . Here is a view of mine (left / actual flywheel is upper right):

That is not the actual flywheel (it is the "toothed crown' toothed wheel" that captures/crowns the clutch against the flywheel, and is engaged/turned by the starter motor). Are those cracks around the circumference?
  24. The actual flywheel (#7) bolts are seen, below, as #9 and obscured beneath the "Toothed Crown"/ #10. The Toothed Crown fasteners (#12) "Allen head type" are not the concern . . .
