  1. Also, take time to inspect the cable exit to the bell crank. An angle like this will eventually fray the cable: Angle the bracket for a straight shot:
  2. Early and later differ slightly. At one time, the Moto Guzzi parts system had the part number wrong for the early (1999-2001) V11 and you would receive the later (bent tube) cable. Its adjuster is obvious: On earlier V11, the connection is straight and you pull back the rubber boot to expose the cable adjuster/ lock ring. Mine shows alot of slack taken up. I like my throttle tight. Like the shortcut thru Nayook to Noojee . . .
  3. I'll draw the line at my sharing this reply with my wife. Two slaps are enough!
  4. Has anyone rented the second cottage, yet, for the spring Kentucky SpineRaid ?
  5. Pretty sure my preparation/installation of the Speedhut took up four or five pages of that "Installing . . ." thread. Far from Plug&Play. Worth it? I hope. I just could not bring myself to buy a fourth Veglia speedo and still pain over the fussy angle drives and all the little plastic gears. Looks like I put a couple years into "being interested", six weeks with order/design/delivery, and about five weeks on the actual installation. Big improvement over what my Sport had gotten to . . . Yep, learn your fuel range and how that is reflected on whatever odometer you are using. "Fuel Level Warning Light" is for entertainment purposes only . Expect an early "short/ chin-pad" tank to deliver maybe 5.1 US gallons before requiring the roadside "tip-slosh" . . . Sputter-out sooner in a downhill right-hander.
  6. I told my wife about taking that "short-cut thru Nayook to Noojee ." She had a good laugh. Then slapped me and told her dad. Again!
  7. I have 26,000 miles on these now. Soon to find out if they will last longer than the average Veglia . . .
  8. I posted this elsewhere, in a reply about the V11 clutch rattle. I think it deserves a place here for the guitar mastery of Richard Thompson . . .
  9. The racket differs. Dual disc rattles disengaged (lever pulled in) and the single rattles engaged (lever released). Either way, there is "The Rattle Within " . . .
  10. Harper in the US shows one for the early silver Sport on their website, but a call to Curtis often results in, "No." https://www.harpermoto.com/gear-box-housing-01200230.html And I see this complete, used gearbox from Germany on ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/384510693185?hash=item59869f8f41:g:2iwAAOSwi7JhmKDN&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAABAGSdgr44N%2FXxqRzaHpAMFq4K7VMHbvZnMeQIvodFekE7Y1OCiO0RudEWQUK8swt7M%2FzcO9Vow0BwJf5PE5FH0HCrzCoW12JOHwLzp%2FI4lGnoLrPTZC%2FsCpCMpoklP%2F7Ik0lP3y5NQDSCxnqeSQ4EA2%2BN3t6pnSmZXF%2B%2Fx4jXq05Qfe9YRdPLtogorCAbtXxsuvo%2BnY44eD8Tpb6yRaz7aXYTO0p%2F%2BEPrmoarUFsQX2h2JrjrKFahmlPgVyCkLtl7J6dNNVIdoPMn19n5lGjIFGYWShMGZj91OoKLiryjpPPg3M7IYFzun5fi5SUjuNNJxQBU6ADjZM%2BiwaTHD4SCF2k%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR7LCnuyiYQ
  11. This "soft spring, too much preload" is exactly what happened when I tried to set my fork preload with the original springs. The downside (lowside?) is that the forks ran out of "reach" (topped out) while leaned maximally over in a corner and the camber of the road changed to negative. The forks extended all they had, but it wasn't enough to hold the road. (One contributor in an other wise perfect storm.)
  12. It will be interesting to note the actual build date on the metal tag. As hard as it is to see on the Sport, it may be rather elusive under the LeMans fairing . . .
  13. So a 2002 build (probably late production?) built to the 2003 specification. Seems you have landed what is, arguably, the best of the breed!
  14. Well, I say, again: You are in the right place, here. As the old adage goes, "Expect some owner involvement " . . . . Anybody that stays up to 3am to post on some random internet forum is already putting skin in the game . . .
  15. The actual build date (month-year) is inscribed on the metal plate on the left side of the headstock (requires close inspection and pushing wiring etc out of the way). Black face gauges (ITI/hUR)? The tenth/eleventh digits of the VIN may be a clue as well . . . "ZM, YM, 1M, 2M, 3M . . .) This beautiful lady?
  16. Bravo, Mick! And a grand welcome! You are in the very best place in the entire Universe for the care&feeding of a MotoGuzzi V11 ! What "year" is your Le Mans?
  17. Good point about this being a "For Sale" topic. Posted by a new member with no history here. The new member @Impala has not been back to visit his listing in the last ten days. Yet, the question of the risk of the aluminum flywheel that is coupled to the "single plate clutch" is fair discussion. Has any Rosso Mandello suffered a flywheel failure? Perhaps our member @Tinus89 could contribute . . .
  18. Some early axles thread into the left fork leg, others are "nutted" on the left fork. Yours?
  19. Approximately equal to acceleration due to gravity (dropped off a cliff face) . . . Good to see you on, @Baldini! We joined here within two months of one another. Twenty years ago, brother!
  20. Time, again, for our brothers below to set forth from Drouin without the single digits and freezing fog to regale us with tales of the road and fascinating place-names!
  21. Or simply not perfectly vertical. I recall those things being very finicky about positioning.
  22. The tank should be at atmosphere. The in-line valve, or the vent tube routing is usually the source of the blockage.
  23. I try to remember to take the sticker off my WIX, but have often forgotten. At 5,000 miles, it had never been a problem. Not sure what might happen with another brand or going longer. Far more important to make sure the old filter gasket comes out with the old filter!
  24. I thought those were all the same job!
