Figured I'd give you the good news first . . .

That O-ring under the head bolt is an often overlooked leak source that makes it look like it is leaking from the head gasket.

Have you installed correct spring rates (front and rear) for your weight (in gear) and riding style? That would be Priority One.

I tell you what, if anyone can finally figure out exactly WHY the ShortFrame front Zerk is so impossible (compared to the LongFrame), that is worth ten points and the championship . . .

A far more likely oil leak source than either a head gasket or (especially) a base gasket, IMO . . . Otherwise, perhaps simply a valve cover gasket.

What OSPHO says it is: OSPHO is a balanced formula of Phosphoric acid, Sodium Dichromate, Surfactants, and Extenders.

Note that each U-joint of the V11, front and rear, gets the special 45º low profile Zerk fitted to the center of the U-joint body (shown filled with a black moly grease here): An image of the 45º Zerk in the rear U-joit:

(Visible off the left side of the rear driveshaft part standing vertical in this image): Shaft splines Zerk also visible below (this is the third driveshaft grease point in addition to the two U-joint Zerks. Too much grease in the shaft connection can obstruct it's movement.) . . .

Seems to me that if the Zerk is not angled, the needle will have to be.

If I were looking at a 2003 V11 (Sport? LeMans? Ballabio?), I would want to sure if it is a true 2003 or a "Carryover" of the 2002 configuration: That you say there are service records/ receipts is encouraging. V11 that have belonged to members of V11LeMans.com tend to have the known issues seen to. As for the motor, " . . . the least of your worries ", as Pete has said.

There should be a Zerk where the two parts of the driveshaft slide together.

That sounds like good method, regardless. My last shot at greasing that %#@$& front UNI only served to waterproof the general area . . .

Hey, @Scud, @Tom in Virginia is asking if springs are still available?

I heard gstallons say to never pump a Zerk before cleaning it to avoid pushing grit and contaminants into the grease fitting.

So, one U-joint Zerk at the back of the driveshaft. Another "Zerk" /grease fitting at the junction of the front and back "halves" of the driveshaft. Then the nefarious "front UNI" that has proved so impossible to grease on the early V11 RedFrames . . .

It seems there is minimal difference (for our V11 purposes) between a V-rated (149mph/240km/h) rating versus a Z-rated (149+mph/240+km/h) tire. Even an H-rated tire is probably fine (130mph/210km/h) unless you intend to ride flat-out across The Salisbury Plain for hours. FWIW, I've never seen mySport over 135mph. For the record, I didn't say I rode it with the Veglia pegged, just "never over" . . .
