  1. .....and yes mine failed a long time ago. My WOF testing station are telling me I really should get it fixed, so,..off it went to the speedo repairer who took out the remaining chunk of plastic that once was a gear and said "nope can't do it". Not really surprised.... However, before I bore you,..I have another enquiry regarding fixing it. I was looking at a 1997 Ducati 900SS which has a white -faced Veglia Borletti speedo. It looks very similar. The same dimensions, the same 30, 60, 90 km/h graduations, the same two-screw mounting wholes for the plate, the same cable type..the only difference is the markings that the Guzzi one has to say it's a Guzzi. How compatible are they? Can I use the guts of that and get the plate of the Guzzi one put in on it's place of the Duc one? Or is the internal gearing different, seeing as the Duc cable is wheel-driven and the Guzzi is gearbox-driven?
  2. Awesome information !!! Thank you so much and I will try all of this. Cheers Chris
  3. Shall do, thanks
  4. Greetings, Having issues with my 80K old '02 V11 Sport. The gel battery which was 2 years old was going flat so I replaced it thinking it was knackered with one of these new glass-mat batterys. Unfort it's still not holding it's charge, so I've checked all of the connection etc to no avail. Took it to the shop and they reckon and they checked everyuthing and have guessed that it's the regulator/rectifier. Now I've read all of the relevant threads here regarding r/r's and they don't seem to be some thing which readily fails. Anything else readily apparent that I could look for? Any help is appreciated
  5. After a wash and CRC..
  6. Actually after reading all this, I do have a question regarding the noise my '02 V11 makes. Around 2200rpm to 2800rpm it makes a noise akin to a couple of marbles rattling in a tin can, not that loud but only seems to happen under gentle or no load. Goes away after 3K rpm. Is this normal gearbox rattle that is being discussed?
  7. Well........ This certainly rocked me out of my rocking chair...some like, some don't. But as one person said, when it's your own bike.... I personally like it. However, if (I say if) I was to sell it, I would think about repainting it back to burgundy/ dark grey to keep it original.
  8. Fair enough,..each to their own. Unfortunately, my average photos don't do it justice.
  9. Too much red then. The light grey breaks it up nicely. You have to see it the flesh
  10. Heya from downunder New Zealand,.. Decided recently to give the 'Sport a new paint job as the tank paint was starting to rub away at the leg scallops. I thought a new colour (color) scheme might be the order of the day. A friend of mine who's a bike painter just finished painting his 916 and said he had some Ducati red left over. So,...here she is.. Have received some very positive feedback, people have said it's improved it dramatically. I personally love it !!!! and an old one for comparison Whatcha think?
  11. There's no choke, only a fast-idle. It is supposed to be lovingly controlled by efficient Italian electronics
  12. More of a 105mm Howitzer blast than a backfire !!! It's been running quite rich lately, hence getting the TPS sorted and doing the tappets this Friday. Wonder if the backfire was because of that. When I started it last night after putting the TB back, it started no worries.
  13. That's 'cause us North Islanders are an hour ahead.......
  14. And that's exactly what it was. The RHS TB blew out of the intake boot. So, loosened all the clamps, pushed it back in, retightened and she's a goer !!! I really would not have expected to have to look there,......only Guzzi's ay !!! Thanks for all your help, guys !!!
  15. Thanks for help. It has been running a little rough down low lately and was in need of a tune so I might just give this to the shop as I really don't want to break anything on my pride and joy.
  16. Thanks. Is this a difficult job? (ie anything specific to watch out for)
  17. Got the V11 out this morning. Cranked her over and then an almighty backfire went off !! Then she started on only one cylinder. Had a whistling type noise coming from the engine, but thought that just may be one cylinder not running noise. Thought it may just have been a grubby plug so stopped and started again, No clear, so did this a couple of times without it clearing when then it just wanted to rev it's nuts out. Stopped, started again, one cylinder, then copious revs. This is all I need !!! So checked the cables, they're fine. Checked operation of throttle, all good. I give up !!!!!!!!! So, going to call bike shop to come and get her to fix her. Any ideas before I do this? The only thing I did to her last night was a little more oil in the engine (doing the change on the weekend, well was going to) and did the rear diff oil change. Didn't touch anything else. Thanks for any help,
  18. Found out today I get her back this weekend from the shop.
  19. Well, looked outside on Friday morning, thought what a nice day to take the Guzzi to work. As I was getting it out of the garage, I found a small bit of oil on the floor. Wasn't worried as I thought it must have been from when I was working on the DR250 clutch. Blast down the motorway and got to work. No problem so far. Lunchtime, and thought I'd go an check on it at the bikepark. Hmmm,...a little puddle of oil underneath it. Wipe my hand under the sump...yup...it's coming from mine. Looked around the bike and there was oil spots over the exhausts and on the rear tyre (eeekkk...). Okay, I'll drop into the bike shop and get some plugs for the Guzzi. Got there, looked down and it was worse !! So talked to Pete the salesman who got one of the guys to wheel it out the back and degrease it to see where it's coming from. Start it up and it's peeing out of the timing cover, the gasket has gone. The mechanic says it totally unrideable and I was lucky to have got it this far (either pumping the sump dry or spitting me off 'cause of the "oil-cooled rear tyre"). The Guzzi's now booked into the shop to have the job done. So...it's no Guzzi for a while... The off-shoot of this is that the Mrs normally rides it to work but decided not to that morning. She most likely would not have seen that. Oiled rear tyre or no oil left in the engine.....
  20. That pic of those 2 Guzzi's is truly spectacular, Biesel !!!! Outstanding !!
  21. That RS250 tail piece really suits it. Looks great !!
  22. Why thanks, WCB
  23. This is my beastie in New Zealand. One of only 2 burgundy V11 Sports here.
  24. Greetings, When I purchased my V11 Sport a month ago I decided (after a, ahem, highish speed test-ride) that a bikini fairing of some sort was a necessity. I bought a Givi screen which seems to go with the V11 quite nicely. Works well too.
