    An everyday story

Keep working on Nogbad. You obviously made a dent in his sensibilities. I just hope he is not running straight 50 weight no name oil that he last changed four years ago. But itza guzzi! And will still last many miles.....as long as one keeps replacing the parts
  2. What is your email application? It seems like you are using some sort of webmail and got properties on the message, rather than on the message header. If you are using Yahoo mail go to where it says something about "headers", and change it to "full headers" Google mail requires selecting "show original" Outlook and Eudora have very different methods.
  3. Good luck with them. If they don't treat you right, I am sure that you can find better dealers to deal with after the warranty work is done. Glad it happened under warranty. I wonder if you might do you better to pay them a little cash to make sure they put in better parts. Has Guzzi recognized the Scura clutch problem and changed the recommended replacement parts? If Guzzi has not changed the recommended parts, take the opportunity to improve your clutch. Even if it costs a couple hundred quid Just my opinionated
  4. right now I am using a gruesome blend of copper piping and split one inch aluminum tubing. It works. It is solid. But it is overkill and not very pretty. My clutch resevoir is hanging on the hose. First my brake resevoir bracket cracked at about 30,000 miles and then the clutch resevoir bracket cracked at about 34,000 miles. Stainless steel is a good material for the vibe-ful location at the handlebars. Stainless spring wire might also work well: http://www.smallparts.com/products/descriptions/swph.cfm
  5. I should get some of these stainless money clips for repairing brake fluid resevoir brackets. Thanks Ratchet!

Yawn....who set the $&%&%( alarm clock! I am going back to bed....ZZzzzzzzzz But it is a beautiful day
  7. Thanks Gary, I figured wrongly the welding would have no trouble with the glue. I really should invest in some welding gear and learn the skill. Lessons would not hurt, as I have not welded since the one time in High School shop class when I made a weather vane Maybe I can make a Quat-D like muffler
  8. I wonder what that makes your moneypit? Material Girl? But let us not get started reminiscing about when she dumped you over that dike... But back to the topic what are the best replacement flywheels and clutches for the Scura? Convert to double plate??? A RAM aftermarket double plate clutch? A Rosso Mandello single plate clutch and flywheel? Or are the Scura's and RM's the same part number?
  9. That looks like a pretty small crack to me. But I guess it could cause back firing I am pretty sure it would not cause backfiring, unless also accompanied by symptoms of popping, especially durring deceleration. I believe a little soft popping is normal.(any opinions on deceleration popping???) Glues might not do anything to keep the crack from growing, but glues are good for testing to see if welding will fix the backfiring. Another test is to spray quick start on the crack while the engine is running to see if it effects the idle. But that is not always a conclusive test. Note quickstart is bad for rubber and plastic and paint, etc. but it is good for cleaning out the crack before gluing
  10. The only incredible endurance I noticed came from the fans watching
  11. Okay, since you bent the rules a little, I think I can stretch to say that in my neighborhood, there is a sport played BETTER by our home team than anywhere else in the UNIVERSE!!!!
  12. The Griso has the facetless face with reflector bits. The Breva has the projector type
  13. Any clicking noise at the relays when activated? When I first hooked up, I got low beam but no high beam. The relays clicked, so I started wiggling wires, and it turned out the 30 terminal in the high beam relay socket was not seated properly, so I reseated, wiggle tested, and all is well. Ratchet, we have to prove to Dan Diego that are Bosch lights are better than his Lucas(or whatever he has on that Triumph) I have faith that you will figure it out
  14. Lets keep it more motorcycle related: (she looks like she MIGHT be over 18 in some of the shots )
  15. Maybe this helps If your relays are diode protected, the exact wiring is critical On a Bosch relay it is numbered 1-5, most other relays use the other corresponding numbers, as illustrated. 1 = 86 Yellow(Green)LowBeam or Red(Brown)HighBeam. Must be Positive if relay is diode protected. If not diode protected, 85 and 86 are interchangeable. 2 = 85 Black wire from factory harnass. Must be Negative if relay is diode protected 3 = 30 White wire from battery 4 = 87a should be vacant 5 = 87 Yellow LowBeam or Red HighBeam leading to bulb I suspect 30 and 87 could be reversed, but I would not. PS just went for first night ride since rewire, and it worked great! Especially High Beam
  16. Staedt! thanks for the gift idea Merry Christmas, everyone!
  17. Thats a great idea! I am sure it is much more visible than 99% of the bulb only replacements.
  18. The Wizards of Aus rule! Her majestical wicked witch of the West's finest service are no match. Click your heels three times, Dorothy! There is no place like home. There is no place like home. There is no place like home.
  19. Jim, you could race your Rosson Mandello in the GST And I could get a Quat-D exhaust and race in the ST competition
  20. firefox has a nice option to erase the following when quitting: browsing history download history saved form cache cookies saved passwords authenticated sessions However if someone is knowledgeable enough and they have access to your computer when you are not there, everything you type and see can be seen by them. What was on your computer and was deleted can be gotten by them. But if you actually need what was deleted, GOOD LUCK In most home situations I think you are safe just deleting your histories, caches, and cookies. Where I work they log all traffic and can capture everything if there is enough demand for it. Encrypting it, makes it much more difficult for them to bother with.
  21. Clicking on this image will take you to Gary Cheeks photo album where there is more on modifying the headlight wiring Also, there is a good how-to by rotorhead here http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?...ic=2984&hl=
  22. I colorized Gary's diagram. Note that on my 2000 V11S the yellow wire is green and the red wire is brown. I suspect later Guzzis also have the green and brown wires.
  23. OK, as promised here are the before and after shots: Both taken at f stop 2.8 at 1/60 of a second with a digital camera. I wish I had done this sooner! Thanks Gary! Before: After
  24. For relays, you can use the kind that are under your seat. They are a good choice because they are compact. The larger the gauge, the thinner the wire. From a conversion chart, 16 gauge is between 1.0 and 1.5mm. 14 gauge is between 1.5 and 2.5mm No riding for me this weekend
