  1. That is not how I read it
  2. Yah, but probably half of them were Vespas they were building for Piaggio Just kidding... Congratulations Moto Guzzi!
  3. Please share some horror stories I have only heard of three failures, all fixed under warranty or in my case past warranty for free. If you start having trouble with a PCIII disconnect it I heard probably over a hundred kudos for PCIIIs as always YourMileageMayVary...
  4. In order for you bike to work optimally with the PCIII, it should be tuned to the specifications for which is was mapped. This includes clean air filter, proper valve clearance(set probably to factory world (not US) default), balanced throttle bodies, throttle position sensor to correct millivolts setting(set probably to factory default), ECU trim (set probably to factory default) air bypass screws (set probably to factory world (not US) default) I am not sure why the dealer would have a problem with that He should disconnect the PCIII before tuning it to spec. If it does work properly after PCIII is hooked up, either the dealer tuned the bike wrong or the specs were wrong and you need a different map. I suppose the dealer fears the later problem.
  5. Welcome back Jack! Did you crash your Guzzi? Or did you just sell it. In any case glad you are up and able to ride a Guzzi The new BMW R1200's are very appealing, but I fear they will leave me uninspired because of the sewing machine feel. Plus they are new, and thus expensive so I must stay on the Guzzi path to enlightenment
  6. What is this thead talking about? V11LeMans.com Rally Participants http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=9619
  7. What a weekend! Long Beach was not too bad. I did not test ride anything, but Wallace got to ride the Breva, Griso, and Norge. He came away very impressed with the Griso and Norge. The best part was hitting "Rock Bottom Brewery" for lunch and seeing the place inundated by a Santa UnConvention....http://santarchy.com/ Coming back home could have been a better ride. Lane splitting in the rain was an invite for disaster, so the ride back simply took longer than expected. Cosmos and Tacos in San Clemente helped the moral, and the blast home was a blast....luckily no speeding tickets Slept like a baby, woke up and went on the Toy Drive Ride. For all you charity minded So-Cal people, please consider giving, or partaking in future years. The day started with Cafe Moto Coffee and breakfast munchies and tire kicking. We then headed to the shelter and listened to heart wrenching stories from the grateful women whose lives were changed for the better by the shelter. Then we fired up the bikes and took kids for rides around the parking lot. The smiles were priceless and it was hard to leave as the kids could have ridden around the parking lot all day. We then headed to the Ross's house, diagnosed some Scura electrical problems, then headed over to Rainbow for a fun ride on sloppy post rain roads, followed by a delicious lunch. I hope some of you can make it next year. I missed out on free champagne brunch at the Hotel Del Coronado, just so I could make this....it was well worth it
  8. Maybe not too deep. Checkout the Aprilia V4 http://aprilianews.blogspot.com/
  9. ThanX slug It might look more Xmas like with more toys under it, like maybe a Norge Or you could spray it with synthetic snow. Now to get that song out of my head... On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me, a Moto Guzzi MGS01. On the second day of Christmas my true love gave to me, two deerskin gloves and a Moto Guzzi MGS01. On the third day of Christmas my true love gave to me, three wrench hands two deerskin gloves and a Moto Guzzi MGS01. On the fourth day of Christmas my true love gave to me, four mating Serges, three wrench hands, two deerskin gloves and a Moto Guzzi MGS01. On the fifth day of Christmas my true love gave to me, Five piston rings, four mating Serges, three wrench hands, two deerskin gloves and a Moto Guzzi MGS01. On the sixth day of Christmas my true love gave to me, six geese for riding, Five piston rings, four mating Serges, three wrench hands, two deerskin gloves and a Moto Guzzi MGS01. .... Feel free to add your own cheesy lyrics

  11. With the built in GPS, he can map it in seconds Interesting comparison photos of the Breva/Norge frame and the Griso Frame, here: http://socal-guzzi.com/PHPBB/viewtopic.php...19&start=15 Photos by RacerX
  12. But where can I get a sticker like that?
  13. Headed to Long Beach tomorrow for the Cycle World Motorcycle Expo, and then Sunday going on a Toy Drive Ride....See events forum Hope to see some of you all this weekend If I get some time away from the keyboard, I should get my headlight set up relays for direct wiring.
  14. In an effort to de-personalize my abhorred persona, I tried using no avatar for a week, but it is sooo boring, so as a tribute to my old pal GG, I will use the Silver Goose avatar till he returns, or until I get bored of it, or until the copyright police stop me... From: http://www.jltimelessjewelry.com/coro-silv...e-pin-1393.html (It is only fair they get some credit for the fine art)
  15. In 1985 I narrowed my shopping list to 1984 model BMW R65, Cagiva 650, and Moto Guzzi V65SP. I bought the goose But after years of lousy reliability, I wish I had bought the Beemer, or maybe the Lemans that was $4500 instead of $3000 for the V65. Was the price difference between the LeMans and the V65 due partially to the tariff????? #$^$@#&$@@!!! maybe I could have afforded a LeMans if it weren't for that tariff Greg said something about no tariff for first limited number of bikes imported. The lemans was nearly 50% more money than the V65. A Breva 1100 is nearly 50% more money than a Breva 750, so I guess it was not the tariff. I was also, looking at the interceptor 500 at that time. Glad I did not as those were not reliable either. Harley was out of the question for me back then.
  16. Ooops, you are right. I forgot about that huge federal debt he left. But it sure did spawn some glorious years on Wall Street. True masterminds can increase jobs, make wall street go bully, and LOWER the debt.
  17. No way dude, it was all the mastermind work of Ronald Wilson Reagan and his sidekick:
  18. 1986 vfr700 was about $4500 1986 vfr750 was about $5200 I am pretty sure Honda's best selling bikes before, the tariff were 750cc. It cost Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha and Kawasaki money to downgrade from 750s to 700s. They also lost sales and profits on large touring bikes and large cruisers, unless they were building them in the USA. The Japanese Four were not killed by the tariff, but it made them less capable of maintaining dominance. I suspect the reason Harley ended the tariff may have been the realization that the tariff was bad for motorcycling. If it weren't for the tariff we might have thousands more people buying motorcycles today. 1983 Honda introduced the 750 shadow and 1985 the 1100 Shadow. (imagine how much of a success they would have been without a tariff. All the xenophobe that would rather die than buy Japanese, weren't buying them, but somebody was) I think the 700 Shadow was introduced in 1984 There were many people sitting on the fence of whether to buy a Shadow 750 or a Sportster. When the tariff hit, and the cc droped to 700, it helped those buyers make up their minds.

    I'm baack...

Welcome back, SlowPoke! I hope you can make the Toy drive ride this weekend. If interested, check out the events section of the forum for details. If not this weekend, you should try to make a first Sunday of the month ride....two hundred miles in one day will do your bike good .
  20. I am pretty sure y9ou can ignore the contents or lack of content in the v11 manual directory. Just grab v11cd.zip under v11root, unzip, and reassemble as illustrated in the tree.gif I find that it requires internet exploder to function properly. EDIT Paul is correct, just get all that is under v11root....you have to hunt through to get it all, but it is worth the effort. Also you may need to install software to unzip the files.
  21. Inconsequential?!? I guess your book sells better if it is contrarian to common sense. Thanks for posting the other reasons. I guess I have to buy the book
  22. If you get the PCIII through http://www.guzzitech.com you will get great support. His email is todd guzzitech .com (replace the with an @) There certainly are cheaper places like eBay or this place http://www.hardracing.com/PowerCommand.htm But drop Todd Guzzitech an email and maybe he can knock off the shipping or something, in the spirit of Christmas. The extra cost of buying through him will give you tech support that may partially replace the need for dyno work, and even after dyno work, he can help you make it work better.
  23. I have been trying to research if it really does only use 35Watts. The only evidence I found was from the ever so credible eBay advertisers. Apparently the bulb uses 35Watts, but the ballast may use more additional power. One sight said 10A!!!!! Another said 15Watts, so a total of 50W, which is only 5Watts saved from low beam. WTF
  24. Merry Christmas!!!! You have been a goooooood boy I made the mistake of riding my bike home 300 miles over two days. I should have taken an extra day to do the motoman break-in method while in the town of the dealership rather than babying it home for 300 miles. After 30,000 miles I think she finally broke in (no more oil consumption, but it could be because I switched from French to Argentinian oil) Or maybe MPH could do the MotoMan Method for you??? Or not. I have certainly not seen lab quality evidence of the value of the technique.
