  1. Within four years of protectionism, Harley, who had been losing market share to the Japanese big four, turned around and nearly tripled market share. If it was not protectionism that "saved" Harley, what did?
  2. You want simple? Get the PCIII from Todd Eagan. ~$300+ Get the Stucchi crossover. ~$350 Talk to Todd about which ECU to keep. FWIW, You will probably get more money for for the Ti ECU. The bike will then run great. If it does not, get it tuned to World Spec. US Spec has tight valves and lean idle CO measurement. $$$??? If you still want to run better, get it dyno-tuned on a tuning link dyno.~$200-$400???
  3. It sounds and looks great, but I was too far behind you to know how well it goes....Although there was one moment when I exited a turn at about 40MPH and you blew by me going about 70MPH with passenger that I guess I would have to say it goes well...of course you probably could have blown by me at about 60MPH if you were riding a true rat bike, so it is hard to say how much was the bike and how much was rider. Do you have any dyno-graphs for that bike? We should take some better photos of that bike and put it up for bike of the month The first impression of the bike comes from looking at the raw steel tank,(that might make one think "ratbike", but details on the bike show it to be bling-o-licious, with an emphasis on quality, rather than flash. The bike is bad to the bone and will probably outperform 99% of the V11s on this forum. I wish I had Todd's get it done attitude to get my bike where I want
  4. Some guy who posted that same image was censored on this forum....but years later, he became a moderator (it was not me)
  5. Well said, FrenchBob
  6. You mean this one, right? It sounds even meaner than it looks http://img168.imagevenue.com/img.php?image..._0085_319lo.jpg

  8. I was going to quote "Yesterday", but this one seemed nearly perfectly appropriate (I guess I kind of understand why he said goodbye) For GG:
  9. The resemblence of the sound is uncanny Saudade. saudade = "Saudade (pron. IPA [sɐu'ðað(ɨ)] in European Portuguese and Galician, and [sau'dadʒi] or [sau'daði] in Brazilian Portuguese) is a Portuguese word for a feeling of longing for something that one is fond of, which is gone, but might return in a distant future. It often carries a fatalist tone and a repressed knowledge that the object of longing might really never return." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saudade
  10. As long as there is a reason. Maybe that is why I don't feel as strong a reason to fight
  11. When are you going to get you Guzzi back on the road? Why don't you just buy a Breva or a LeMans or a Norge? The open road is calling you
  12. I am not sure. Something about "failure to lubricate" "bone dry" and "it's a blown motor... haul'n ass w/o due oil changes..."
  13. dlaing

    I'm a hedonist

Too much information!!! But glad things are well
  14. PS your daughter is gorgeous, your wife is gorgeous, but your friend with the big eyes is... Please stay faithful to your wife
  15. That is why I voted BFG for "Funny to the max"
  16. Maybe you just grinned and beared it better when I retaliated. My impression is we would banter, get upset, be a little nasty, and then move on....But Ratchet and I had greater differences, and when GG shared the same view as Ratchet, he got hit by the same grenades I was launching at Ratchet....Or maybe that was another life time, circa WWI...it is all a blur. It is a beautiful day where GG, Ratchet, and I live So we have not excuse GG, I hope to see you at the Lookout Cafe to bury the hatchet. First Coffee is on me
  17. THIS time I get it and can laugh. Heck I a have even forgiven Ratchet to the point where I will ride with him. But if they made TX Redneck or Ratchethack moderator of the banter forum or global forum God Please give Golden Goose a break, as anyone who read the entire global warming thread knows, it got ugly. I thought it only got ugly between Ratchet and myself, but I am sure I said some things that were rude to both of them that I am sorry for. It is difficult to make 4500+++ posts, maintaining open honesty in what I believe in and not get someone pissed off. I am pretty sure Golden Goose did not know how limited my moderator powers are, and how I can only delete Classified ads. He did not know that Jaap had the sense not to give me the global powers that he gave DaBen Come back GG! I am watching you PS Thanks for your civil behavior in the Global Warming thread. Unlike me, you never let it get too personal
  18. Alex and I are too cutting edge to be trusted with Global Power. Or maybe I should only speak for myself
  19. I am only a moderator of Classifieds. Sorry, you felt that way. I would agree that I am not qualified by popular vote to moderate political post in the Banter forum because my bias is far from centered. Also, if you read some recent posts, I have given up arguing politics. My last post in Global Warming was a little close to an argument, but I am not here to make enemies. I have treated you with far more respect than Ratchet has treated me. I hope once you realize that I only moderate Classifieds you will change your mind. Forgive Jaap for letting me help reduce SPAM. I tried to PM you, but I could not...even as a moderator. Trust me, my moderator POWERS are limited to Classifieds. If you start hocking blinker fluid or Elbow Grease there, I might abuse my powers there and delete your post If you wish, I will resign from Classified Moderation.
  20. I prefer my KY jelly blood free, but I'll take what I can get. I was sceptical, but I did what you said to my front tire and got some virgin blood from a willing donor and spent three hundred and thirty six dollars and change on KY jelly. The front now probably weighs about fifteen pounds more than with plain old pump air. I rode around the block and it started squishing out the sides, and then I slid out and broke some asphalt with my face So, I figure I need some air in the bloody ky jelly mix to pressurize the tire bead against the wheel wall to hold in the blood and jelly. I squished in as much bloody jelly as I could and then I pumped it up to 34PSI. Then I cleaned the excess jelly off the tire...good thing it is water soluable. And then I went for a ride, and you know what, you were right, I could not tell the difference. After I do the rear tire, I can brag to all my friends that fill my tires with bloody KY Jelly. KY Jelly, $749, bloody virgin, $3000, bragging right of a P. Roper solution in my bike, PRICELESS.
  21. Also, Moto Guzzi has a FREE hat offer. Pick up coupon from your Guzzi dealer than go to motorcycle show to redeem for free hat http://www.motoguzzi-us.com/servonline/new....asp?indice=235
  22. I will see you guys this Sunday at your place And hopefully the following Sunday here:
  23. I am up for it, but perhaps 56 to Interstate 5 is less cold of a route at that hour ...In any case, I have to buy some warmer gloves
  24. Aller avec Dieu (hope that is phrased right)
  25. With the Piaggio network for R&D they should be able to get close. Or they could stay with two valves and get closer performance to Buell. I would just like to see them become as reliable as they are durable. But I think 100 crank+ HP is a good marketing strategy. 100HP, less weight, and antilock brakes are good selling points. I love naked bikes and as far as I know the R1200R is the first naked bike to offer anti-lock brakes. Too bad the engine is a sewing machine. I wonder how difficult it would be to fit BMW heads on a Guzzi
