  1. Watch out Global Warming thread! Now I have some ammo!!! Thanks Alex!
  2. I think I have ridden a Norton with the ones Jason recommended. They worked really well. I think the rounded shape is a great idea. I also like the Pro Grip GEL 714 They are a little fatter and much softer....and they last along time and resist the weather better than stock. You will have to trim the ends off to go around bar end weights or bar end mirrors, or bar end turn signals... Just about any grips for 7/8inch bars should fit. You will find that the throttle side will have a greater diameter than the non-throttle side. So, don't just go looking for one inch grips, or you may end up with the grips for one inch bars, which won't fit.
  3. So, the primary function of the hand gun is to keep peace and stop anti-social behavior?!? It is a wonderful thing when the holder of the gun gets to be the judge of what constitutes peace and anti-social behavior. Too bad we can't shoot one another on this forum when people get all anti-social and non-peaceful. Maybe we need an emoticon of a double barrelled shot gun
  4. I suspect it is a matter of weighing the cost of preventative measures vs. the risk weighted cost of catastrophy. The preventative cost, I would assume is below $300, while the cost of running to the point of head damage or worse is much higher, but the risk is unknown. But there have been a few posts, mostly relative to Mike Rich, that indicate a major looming problem. The bearings and maybe the cams could have the preventative improvement of a windage plate. Apparently people are lining up for them. Funny, before reading your post I started typing, but edited out: "Maybe I should take it to my guzzi dealer and tell them to change the valves and if necessary K-line the guides, but I'll bet they'll just say, "why?"" And of course Sonny is my dealer.
  5. Where? and what would you specify? Stainless steel valves? 30 or 45 degree cut? multiangle cut? What is best for durability? Would you specify a certain durometer rating for the valve stem hardness? If you get new valve guides would you have them chamfered to reduce wear? Would one chamfer K-lining? Maybe this is not as big a deal as I feared, but I have not known how to proceed, other than sending to Mike Rich...or FBF. I guess I could talk to Sonny Angel. Thanks for any assistance
  6. I have been procrastinating on this inconvenient truth. What will happen if you just wait till doomsday? Will you just get puffs of blue smoke as a warning sign, or will you need new heads? How much do new heads cost? Or maybe the fear is overblown? Perhaps it is Mike Rich's conspiracy to get rich quick But his name is already Rich and he is slow to get work done, so I don't think it is a get rich quick scheme. I think we better get it done... But I don't want to rip off my heads and send them away for weeks But getting him to port the heads could also be a benefit. Maybe we should keep our eyes open for heads on eBay to help reduce down time? Or we could have them done locally, but I don't know who will provide valves that meet Mike Rich's specs. Another concern at 30,000 plus miles is the cam chain. Any thoughts on that?
  7. The only reason I ever shot a gun was for the fun of it All those movies brainwashed me into thinking they are cool But other things are more cool (but more deadly )
  8. Yet somehow I have the courage to standup to your heavy handed insensitivity. You can deal it out, but you can't take it.
  9. If you knew how to read you would have noticed that I did not agree with Rocker. However your ability to be so rude never ceases to amaze me and that is what I am addressing. You repeatedly fail to understand anyone else's TRUTH. Rocker can speak for himself, but I can only assume that his experience with Metzelers and Pirellis on Guzzis on British roads has led him to the point where he believes Metzelers are inferior to Pirellis on Guzzis. The Motorrad test is evidence that backs up why he might arrive at that conclusion. You can go ahead and irresponsibly push Z6s on people riding on wet roads, or you can open your mind to dialog with people who have different views than you and arrive at a purer TRUTH. What is siping? The way the treads displace the water whether due to depth or pattern The amount of silicate in the compound
  10. Here are the alleged test results -- http://forum.motorcycle-usa.com/default.as...24&m=282597
  11. So what is your secret for seducing such a beautiful women?
  12. Al wrote. "These coils are available from TLM, and are a direct bolt-on replacement. As of 2003, these coils were available for about 103 Euro each(2 required), TLM model number 307165000010" In the following DEFINITIVE thread: http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=2355
  13. Never happened to my V65SP But I have pulled away with the kickstand down a couple times. One time I had to pass my buddy on his Guzzi Sport and point down to his kickstand that was still extended at 40MPH(thankfully with no approaching left turn.) I was thinking of rewiring the kickstand kill switch to activate the horn rather than kill the engine. Still it would be nice to know the sidestand was not in danger of touching down on surprise decreasing radius lefts...must be a bigger problem in the UK, Japan, etc.??????
  14. Ahhhhhem I guess great minds are in synch, but not perfect synch http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?...ic=8727&hl=
  15. Now your talkin'! Way to go Cindy!

  18. While I agree that Metzeler radials are perfectly fine on our Guzzis, according to a test that someone posted in another thread the Diablo Strada out performed the Z2, Z4 or Z6 on wet roads. Rocker is from England which is known for wetter roads than San Diego. Pointing out the obvious to rude idiots needs to be done swiftly and with overwhelming malevolence
  19. If you had been using Pirellis, you could have kept the bike on the right side of the road
  20. For the nostalgic Maybe it is old news but it looks like Pirelli brought back the legendary Phantom as a radial tire!!! FWIW I have a Diablo Strada on the rear and am very happy with it so far. It is not the grippiest in the dry, but it is excellent in the wet...too early to tell about durability. While I agree that not matching brands can have disastarous results, their are exceptions. I think it is safe if the front is grippier in both rain and dry. I am using it with a Dunlop on the front and the combo works better than with the Dunlop on the rear. However in the rain the Dunlop on the front is a complete mismatch for the Strada rear....so I must change it before the weather changes.
  21. That porkchop looks delicious!
  22. I have been using the Light since the weight numbers matched Guzzis recommended numbers. I think it is a little too light for Southern California Summers, as it shifts better when the weather is cool. I have been meaning to try the Heavy, since Janusz and Ratchet say their Redline representatives recommend it.... But I also kind of have Kalgard moly on my mind as it is a bit cheaper and may work as well or better. I have mixed it in the past many years ago with Kendall three star and it worked great. I am thinking with synthetic, it will work even better. PS for what it is worth, I found that when I had a gearbox leak the dyno actually leaked more than the redline light....I guess because the redline holds up better to heat...or maybe it was just a false impression as I certainly was not holding a graduated beaker under the gearbox when it leaked. YMMV

  24. 1. I'd agree if he mounted them to the forks, but I can't tell. I assumed he mounted them to the sump. 2. I'd agree if.... 3. I disagree. My experience with driving lights is they don't seem to add as much light as I had hoped, but they always to add more light, especially to the places that the headlight omit, resullting in better balance of illumination. The blue tint will get motorists attention. Being low will get the attention of people not looking for black helicopters and UFOs. The three light pattern helps distinguish you as a motorcycle. 4.Don't listen to the bling-nazi.
